Thanks Terri!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3: :yay: :dance3: I booked my room last August when it just reopened for remodeling!!! I thought I was getting a good rate since DCL wanted $189 a night. I looked on some internet site this morning and saw $199. I then linked on the Marriott site and saw the senior rate was the same but when I looked for regular rate and I saw the non-refundable $99 rate. I booked the non-refundablerate. I just called to cancel my old reservation. You saved me over $20 dollars. Who would think something actyally went down in price a year later.:rolleyes1

If you pm. me we can exchange cell number.:thumbsup2 We will be arriving at 10:30 am. ::yes::

We are very fortunate to have such a great bunch of PEEPS!!!

Haha that's great :thumbsup2 Glad I could save ya $20! I can't believe the 'best rate' is cheaper than the senior rate! I'll PM you.

Yep this does seem like a great bunch of peeps! I think we're gonna have a great time on the cruise!

I am trying to get caught up - but needed to post to request prayers for my family. I just got a call from my cousin - my 20 year old 2nd cousin was just killed tonight in a car accident. Don't have details beyond that, but everyone is in shock. She was a really smart girl who had many high level goals she wanted to achieve. Ironically her grandfather on her dad's side just passed away last week. Thanks in advance for the prayers.
Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

it looks really cute...although, can't see too much of the detail. I will look at more closely when I drop off my gift ;)
If you click on the picture it shows a larger image. I spent many hours hand embroidering the characters. Pleased with the results.

Honestly counter service at DL in the middle of the summer will not save you time. Maybe a little money but not time. The lines can take up to 45 minutes just to get a burger and fries. You'd be better off leaving the park and going to IHOP, Mimi's Cafe or McDonald's right outside the park. There's a Denny's there too, but it's extremely slow. A good choice would also be White Water Snacks by the Grand Californian pool. I've never seen it crowded and for a resort counter service, the prices are very reasonable.

Thanks for the tip. Does it help to eat lunch at 11:00 - 11:30 and dinner at 5:00 to avoid long lines? That seems to work at WDW. We're east coasters, the time difference is on our side.

Regarding White Water Snacks at the GC, is it reasonable to leave DCA to go there? The hotel connects to the park - seems like it would work...

If the outside restaurants are really that close, they may be a good dinner option.

Hey folks - just wanted to say I'm back. Had a good time in Vegas but a great time hanging with Todd and his family. DS says that was his favorite part of the trip.

Very eventful day today. Dad had surgery, was in and out before noon. Everything went okay. Only thing is he's going to be crankier than usual for a few days. I turned in all my stuff at work and got my final paycheck. Well, not final, I don't get my severance check until next month. Finally told DS about the job situation a few days ago but it finally hit him today when I was talking about my final day. He says I'm not allowed to work some junky job like McDonald's or Albertsons (sorry Todd, he got that from Dylan's job). With all that going on, I totally forgot about a Dr appt. Hope I can get us back in before my medical runs out.

I'm actually going to try to catch up now....get prepared for Groundhogs.

Glad your Dad's surgery went well.

I hang the kids artwork on the garage walls. People have walked by and stopped to look and tell me what a great idea that is. We like seeing what one child makes and then the other children make the same thing when they get to that grade. It's really cool. We even brought the artwork from our KC house to our new house here in Denver.

That's a great idea! :thumbsup2 I only wish I had a garage! That's one of the reason's my house always looks like carp. I have no where to put anything. My basement gets wet so no storage there! Plus my kid's coats, shoes, backpacks, etc. end up thrown by my front door!

I've been quoted the 90 minute rule at WDW too. However, I have never been kicked out of Goofy's. That's the character meal we do most often. I will stay until I've seen all the characters (there's usually 6-9 of them).

My only thought on your ressies. I don't think Goofy's is worth 2 dinners. In fact I'll never do dinner again at Goofy's, we always do brunch. It just didn't do it for me. Another good choice for dinner would be Steakhouse55 (haven't been there since they changed over though, went when it was Granville's), Wine Country Trattoria or Storytellers.

The menu at Steakhouse 55 looks yummy especially since they serve Grand Marnier Souffle' (my absolute fav), but it's not cheap to begin with & then everything looks like it is a la carte! If you want a potato &/or vegetable do you need to add $12 to every entree listed? Looks like I'll be having my souffle on board! :worried:

Disney Visa, AAA, or DVC club

Hmmmm I have them all but keeping track of who discounts where is going to be confusing. Should I just ask each time we eat?

:rotfl2:

DAY TWO: I don't think anyone has noticed the money missing from the office petty cash fund.

:lmao:

Happy Anniversary Pamela & Dan!!!

:welcome: :welcome:
It has been since before Xmas time that I regularly lurked / posted on the DIS. I have been keeing up by joining many of the chats.

I was sort of abstaining from DIS until I got my air to LAX settled... and will oil rising all winter... and my never pulling the trigger...it was looking like $300pp for the 4 of us.... It got to the point where my brother who works for UAL was going to try and get a friends and family thing to fly standby.

But today Virgin Atlantic had a sale $149pp. And I am all booked and ready to go!

SO I AM OFFICALLY BACK ON THE BOARDS!
Welcome back.

Maybe this is something new because they have been in suites before on the magic and never received a call. I did read on the boards here that the dining for the 7nt Mexico cruises were repeating some in the middle as you stated but I also read that the WB cruisers had the regular 3 restaurants, repeat same 3 restaurants, etc. So maybe only the 7nt ones changes for the summer. Anyway my friend emailed me the information after they got off the phone with concierge because we are linked for dinner seating and they wanted to let me know which time they requested.

Sorry, I know I don't post much here I was just trying to be helpful and post information I thought everyone would like to know :duck:

I am quoting myself here but I asked a question on the trip report thread for those that were on the WB and they said that the dining rotation repeated every 3 nights, no being in the same restaurant two nights in a row in the middle of it

Better hurry, she's getting antsy.

New Tipping Guidelines

As of July 13, the suggested gratuities are changing. Anyone adding pre-paid gratuities after this date will be charged the new amount:

3 night $36 per person
4 night $48 per person
5 night $60 per person
7 night $84 per person
15 night $180 per person

Okay, I guess I am officially confused!!! Probably not too hard to do!

So....

Do some people call Disney and ask to prepay their gratuities?

And then charge them to their credit card?

Does Disney simply do the suggested amount?

Would it behoove us to do this ahead of time?

Then, if we did do this, should't we make up the difference on the cruise if the suggested amount goes up?

Do you still get the little tip things at the end of the cruise to give to your server and room host etc?

Typically we tip more than suggested, so would we go to the desk and have more added?

Okay, I think those are all the questions I have...anyone?

Yes I have added a lot of meals in, basically DL is said to fill up on ADR's fast at this time of year, and it will be difficult to wing it.

If you have ADR's you have the option to go for a burger instead, but if you havent ADR's it will be a long wait, or no option.

MK at WDW has far more options to book, I like Tonys town sq, the Plaza and Libert tree, there is also Cindys but a bit expensive, its a pity DL has only two.

I did notice how few options DL has to actually eat in the parks if you choose a sit down meal! I don't think that we will have many sit down meals before my Dh gets there, so I am not all that worried about it. I do plan on changing most of my ADR's today though...oh well!

Happy Anniversary Pamela & Dan!!!

Happy Anniversary!!! I love this cake!

Don't rely on that. The dining rotations for the westbound cruise are different than what was reported for our cruise. On the westbound, the rotations were 5:30/8:00 PLA, 5:45/8:15 LAP, and 6:00/8:30 APL.

Happy Birthday Eric (DS tiggrbaby)!!!

I did it so it was part of the 0% interest on my Disney Visa. Also I don't have to worry about it on the cruise
Then, if we did do this, should't we make up the difference on the cruise if the suggested amount goes up?
It did for me and I'm trying to decide if I should make it up on the ship or charge the extra now. You can do either if you agree with the suggested amount.
Do you still get the little tip things at the end of the cruise to give to your server and room host etc?
Yes

You can. We just added cash for the difference last time. You can also go to Guest Services and request the amount be less if service is not acceptable.
Okay, I think those are all the questions I have...anyone?

:)

I had to cancel my DCL transfers from the port to MCO and I'm now looking to rent a car.
Anybody have a recommendation of where to try ?
We paid about $35 for a one way rental in 2006 and now it looks to be almost double that.
What is considered a good car rental rate for going from the port to MCO :confused3

Check mousesavers and just hunt/peck with the codes.

Kristina (thank you) had a great code for a $29 suv at Thrifty, but its sold out...

Good Morning everyone! TGIF!

Hope everyone is doing well this morning.

Wristband Update!

I finally finalized the wristband order! So here is the good news and the semi-not so good news.

First the wristbands will be under 40 cents each (just waiting for my cc to go through)! To get the cheaper price, I ordered 1,000 wristbands, so if anyone didn't put in an order and still wants them, I can do it. I ordered more of the red/black ones, since they were the most popular and some extra lime green large ones.

Now for the not so good news, that really will only effect the pirates that want the wristbands mailed before the cruise. I was quoted a production time of 14-21 business days, which would mean I would receive them mid July. the rep told me around July 18 or 21st.That's not to say I might get them sooner. Fingers crossed!

I will start PM'ing everyone who wants them mailed the first week in July, with amounts and my addy. Next week I need to work on wrapping up the PTO Treasurers job I've had this past year, so the books can go to the school board office for the audit. Plus get this weekend over, cause I'm working overtime tomorrow!

That isn't what I was saying - what I was referring to was the actual repeating of the restaurants that a previous poster was questioning.

Someone was questioning if the restaurants would actually repeat themselves every 3 nights because on the 7nt Mexican sailings they are repeating one restaurant two nights in a row. On the 7nt sailing they said that the rotations went something like this "The 6:15 and 8:15 rotation was LAAPLAP". I was just noting that for the WB cruisers their rotation was repeated every 3 nights and not repeating a restaurant twice in a row

I do understand that the actual order of the restaurant was different on the WB vs the information we were given for the EB

So if I charge it today then it's due with the rest of the trip in like November, right? Or is that a new 6mo no interest?
