Have a blessed, safe, and happy 2025 Rosh Hashanah to all who celebrate this upcoming week. 🇮🇱🌴🍎🍯✡️

Thank you so much. Shana Tova! We usually have our big meal when we get home from services. One day it is a salad followed by brisket with kugel and cake or cookies for dessert and of course apples and honey. The other day it is turkey with the same things but also cranberry sauce. For dinner we have matzah ball soup and gefilte fish and lemon meringue pie. Nothing really homemade. My DH cooked the meat but kugel, soup, and baked goods are from store and bakery.

We are having apples, honey, and challah bread in addition to our planned dinner. It's a special week for Catholics this week as well with today being Ember Saturday, tomorrow being Catechetical Sunday, and the Feast of St. Matthew. So I get to celebrate great food and religious heritage from both sides of my family. 😋

My DH is Catholic so we observe each other’s major and some minor holidays. I am not aware of the ones you mention I will have to ask him. Enjoy your celebrations!

These are considered minor Catholic celebrations. Ember Saturday is rarely known anymore (it has to do with the changing of the season), Catechetical Sunday celebrates those who teach CCD, and the Feast of Saint Matthew remembers one of the Apostles that was a tax collector and wrote one of the 4 Gospels Catholics recognize. We eat pancakes on his feast day. 😋 I have more information on my thread on the controversial board.
