Enchanting Extras: Caring for Giants vs. Up Close with Rhinos

For anyone that’s done either, what was the experience like? For anyone that’s done both, how do they compare? Which would you recommend? We would like to do one on an upcoming trip but aren’t sure which.

Both are great! But you do get to touch a rhino and just see the elephants. To me, that gives Up Close the edge if you have to pick.

I did Caring for Giants on my birthday back at the end of May and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Granted our tour was extremely unusual so I’m not sure you could expect the same experience. Weather had made the roads that go to the normal site on the savannah impassible and many May tours were cancelled leading up to ours, so they modified it and actually took us backstage up to the second floor of the elephant barn to observe them! It was crazy cool, we were the first guests to ever do that. I’ll never forget it (on the way there, we even saw where the safari trucks are parked). I have to assume it’s back to normal now though.

I can’t speak to the rhino tour. Regardless, I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I would go with whichever animals you’re more interested in.

Wow for Kylenne's tour. I've done both, and our Caring for Giants was okay, but I didn't love it. We were pretty far from the elephants...no where near the barn. It was interesting, but I wouldn't do it again. The Up Close with Rhino's, we did go to the rhino barn, and touch a rhino. That was pretty awesome.
