6/13/2009 Western on Magic- Our Cruise Chat Continues!

Diane are you really getting up to go see the shuttle? I am hoping to see if from WDW. Is that too far away

Beth - Some people may think I am crazy but - YES - I am planning on getting as close as I can get so Larry can view the Space Shuttle as best as he can. This is a once in a lifetime chance - something he could possibly never have to opportunity to see again so I have to act on the opportunity :thumbsup2

I guess we will just meet there. We are planning on staying on board to eat lunch then head over. DH grew up in FL and is just not interested in Key West. From past navigators too there seems to be a lot going on in the kids club too that morning. We def cruise for the ship and all Disney has to offer vs the ports themselves. They could spend all 7 nights at sea and I would probably be happier! :lmao:
Sounds good to me! I'm getting more and more excited everyday!!!!

for some reason I thought the delivery charge was higher the last time we got something-because of a chrge DCL had added on--but I might be mistaken.

Diane are you renting a van to go see the launch? Are you worried there will be an area blocked off

I don't know what we will rent yet.

No I plan to follow the suggestions from KSC to view the launch and go where they suggested.

Ours is at 12:00.

After breakfast we are heading over to the National Park (since admission is included) to enjoy the beach...before the Dolphin swim and then again after the swim.

I know at some point on the threads there was like 10 people going to meet on the ship and head over together. We can organize a meet if you want too (not sure how but...) and have people let us know if they want to meet and come up with a spot.... What time do you think is a good time to meet? 9:30?

I think 9:30 sounds good- do you want to do a roll call? LOL We want to head over and enjoy the National park- the pictures look really nice.

everyone's FE looks great!

Has anyone checked to see if many cabins are left at this point. Hopefully there will be and those wanting to upgrade at the port will be able to.

Don't know how full the ship is but my travel agent has category 12 for June 13 for $1857 for 3 people... I'm thinking, what a great price, I need to book that.. oh I'm already on that ship!:rotfl:

2 years ago I saw the shuttle while walking int Animal kingdom. We had taken a day off to go see the launch, then they delayed it a day and we didn't want to miss another park day. On the way into the turnstiles everyone was pointing at the sky and you could see it the shuttle and the while smoke going up. Probably more impressive in Cape Canveral, but you could still see for wdw.

That is a good price! I'm guessing the ship isn't full, then??

just be careful not to get caught in the 4 hour traffic out of there that another DISer said that had! :scared1:

I think TA's have the 12's on hold but DCL is not offering 12's anymore. It does look like the ship is starting ot get pretty full with the inventory left online.

The DCL site is misleading. I put in 2A2C and only three room Categories came up. I changed it to 1A2C and all room categories came up. Not sure what that means though.

I did that the other day, too. Only I put 2A & 2C, then 2A & 1C. The same thing happened.

It is bc it is 4 vs 3. Not all rooms on the ship have the upper bunk and sleep 4. For instance...all of Deck 1 sleeps 4 but Deck 2 is split about half sleep 3 and half sleep 4.

There will always be different inventory for 4 then 3. It will always be more limited for 4. Right now 9-11 are all GTY. Since there is limited avail in those they will most likely not let someone book those with 4 or they would face the possibility of having to upgrade them to possibly a CAT 4-8.

I'd take that upgrade! :)

Hey, everyone! HAPPY FRIDAY(finally)!!! I am SO ready for school to get out for the year...it seems that all the teachers are trying to cram in as much as they can before the end of the year (in addition to the spring concerts, awards/sports banquets, parades, etc!). I am beginning to feel like a lurker on this thread these days....... :rotfl:

We booked through Fury directly:

Schwetje Party of 4
Guessfeld Party of 2
Lutz Party of 2
Richardson Party of 3
I called Fury this week and added my brother-in-law to our group.

We might do the Paradise Beach in Mexico..alot of 'toys' for the kids. Going to get a cab & do it on our own.
We are still planning to get off the ship in Cozumel and do Paradise Beach, too.

I am trying to buy DD a gown for formal night and was on ebay looking for "formal gown + nwt + size 0" (hello?!) and DD said that she would never wear anything I bought over the internet or that may have been touched by other human hands... I tried to explain that I'd find a new one that no one wore or would have said dress cleaned but she refused. (She and DEX have a case of the "Monks" I like to call it -- everything must be antiseptically clean. Must avoid all drinking fountains, public restrooms, you get the picture...
I have bought my gowns for both this cruise and our last one off ebay. Both were designer gowns and I saved big $$$!!! I figured I could get over the "not knowing where it's been" phobia when I wear a $450 gown that I got for $50!!!! I also just bought a suit for my DS(9) off ebay...no sense in spending too much when he will probably only wear it 2-3 times before he outgrows it!

DH is taking me for my 40th birthday in a few years!! They are building the new DVC resort- and we want to stay there.:thumbsup2
Hey, Nikki! I want to do this for my 40th, too! Do you know when the expected opening is?

Hi,

I sent you a pm! :)

Randi

I called Fury this week and added my brother-in-law to our group.

I guess we are still OK cause I talked to Deb over at the Fury and she said Deb & Jayde can go in the same boat with us :thumbsup2

I hope so! Does that make it 14 in our group now? At least we will have plenty of time for everyone to parasail since the ship's all-aboard is 7:30! :rotfl:

Diane or anyone, do you know how close the fury office is to the ship?

The Fury office is literally steps from the ship (at least that is what they emailed me). We are also doing this excursion, but I am going to wait till we get there to book. DS 12 wants to go up solo, and it will be dependent on wind conditions because of his weight (he's 95 lb). I read that its easy to book a walk up, and we want to visit the state park there too (Ft Zacchary) and do a short private cab tour. So we are going to try to do it right after we get off the ship, or right before boarding if possible.

The Cat 12 price for 3 for $1857 is for 2A1C, just in case anyone goes "WHOA!" and the child must be before the 13th birthday..

I wanted to add a BFF for DD but since the BFF turned 13 last week and the price would have been $350 more than listed above.

Oh, great! Thanks! We could only book palo brunch on this day @ 10:00.. the girls need to be there half hour before the sail. I wanted to make sure we will have enough time to get there!

Speaking of Brunch, is there any more information on a group brunch? When I booked the cruise all brunches were sold out.
