I JUST HEARD ON THE LOCAL NEWS THAT I-95 and the BEACHLINE (Rt. 528) WILL BE CLOSED DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE FOR THE NEXT MONTH!!!! DUE TO WILDFIRES AND THE HEAVY SMOKE!!! SO all those folks flying into Orlando or staying in Orlando you may need to find an ALTERNATE ROUTE to get to the PORT!!!!! I WILL KEEP MY EARS OPEN AND KEEP PEOPLE POSTED ON THE STATUS OF THE OPENINGS AND CLOSINGS OF THOSE ROADS HEADING TO THE PORT!!! START YOUR PLANNING NOW!!!!!!

A Downtown Disney Question for those of you in the know - never having visited without Disney resort transportation - what is the parking situation like at DTD? is there a charge? Any parking suggestions?

We arrive at MCO around noon on Friday and would probably spend a few hours at DTD until the meet at JBs.

We have had better luck on the West end (other side of Pleasure Island) bigger parking lot. The East side can get pretty crowded. However, there is no charge for parking at either end.

Depends on the time of day. Just go and cruise for awhile, you'll find one! Better luck further out.

Ohhhgosh! I am afraid to look! She is trying, bless her little heart...I think some of the older kids are getting a bit impatient with her...but at this point in the game I just have her able to find the tween thread without any assistance, and trying to get her to switch to the tag along thread, well....I am to darn lazy!

Speaking of gicing things out, I read a thread on the main board about DISers giving stuff out to fellow DISers once onboard...the only time we did something like this was at halloween time....some of the ideas on the thread were really neat, but please tell me I am not going to feel like a shameel (sp? real word? whoknows) LOL for not having thought to bring anything to give out to yall?!?!? I like yall and all that, but I dont think about stuff like that! LOL

DON'T worry about it. Believe me!! There have been lots of cruises where someone has given us something and I thought "wow, that was nice, wish I would have thought about it." But don't let it worry you. Believe me....the gift giver did NOT give it out expecting something in return.

I will have a little something for ya'll but ONLY b/c the person who did it on my last cruise cancelled going on this cruise and so I "stole" her idea....of course, asking permission and all. It's really NOTHING, but I hope you like NOTHING! hee hee

Its not so much the clothes its the shoes that I gotta get out of!!! I swear I dont know how women can work 8 hours + a day in heels EVERY day !! Well I sppse it could be the undergarments that one must wear when getting snazzied up that are bothersome as well!

Well, I'm glad SOMEONE liked it. ohiomickey came home and told me he was embarrassed for me b/c I originally posted about scootching across the atrium....

but let it be know....I HAVE NEVER ACTUALLY DONE THAT! but I can IMAGINE it would be bad. Thus, I am prepared.

On the Member cruise one family gave out pens with the cruise date on them, another family gave out bookmarks they made for everyone, and two of the girls gave out pedicure kits so a select group of the regulars after we had a day long discussion on pedicures.

Yeah, but one of these ideas is already taken....or so I hear.


COOL. I went away and had dinner and came back to find a U TOP shared with the person I'm stalking.

my suggestion....drive around VERY VERY SLOWLY until you see someone backing out. Or "stalk" a family as they walk to their car. Parking is tough, but doable if you aren't flying through the parking lot missing the spots just as they are opening up.

Funny, I have never had a problem with parking at the marketplace side during the day. No matter when we went. Only at night time can it get into the stlaker mode! LOL If all else fails just valet it!

The Marketplace on a Friday shouldn't be too bad during the day. Weekends you get lots of locals and it is much harder to find a spot. Every night is hard but Friday and Saturday are the worst.

That post was made in in response to my replying on another thread to a first time cruiser who was asking, among other questions, can they bring a 50-something can cooler onboard, and all I said was that it has to be able to fit thru an airport scanner, no ice, and there is a free drink station on Deck 9 that serves Coke products and water, if that helps as an option.

It's just an open public lot, and honestly it can reach capacity pretty early on Friday nights. Plan on parking more toward West Side.
