hoping i get my settlement soon so i can book
Respectfully. Yes, it does. But I don't want to derail the thread any further, so that will be my last response on it. (Not that there is much to talk about on 2018 itineraries at the moment)
Exactly. I wouldn't float two deposits with one being a cruise I'm no longer taking -- I want to see money in hand LOL. And if someone saves hard to afford a vacation every year or two, but cannot afford an extra deposit out of their budget, that does not mean they need to be judged for taking a cruise! No one has any business judging what someone's else's savings are and whether they are "woefully lacking".![]()
Actually
Well we put every spare penny we can to holidays and dcl and then we are quite skint for the month lol but that's what gets as through a 12 hour shifts looking forward to the holidays
And we are mid 20s with no kids and it is a struggle and if we can't afford it now then we defo be even harder when we have a family, bigger house etc so we just like to do as much as we can while we can. Worry about savings later in life lol
After all you only life once, and u never no how long u will live and what good is savings once it's to late so might as well try enjoy these great holidays while we can even if we don't have savings which we don't lol![]()
My life's mottoI have seen my friends die of cancer and lost both sets of parents, so yes -- life is never guaranteed. My uncle put off taking his wife on a cruise -- the only thing she ever wanted -- until he retired. She died before they could go! We have a kitchen that has needed updating, but I can do that later. As we get older and now close to retirement, we gotta do it while we can both financially and health-wise! Enjoy every minute and make great memories!
Yes I used them to book our most recent cruise. I am pleased with them.I am checking each day for 2018 dates....my first Disney Cruise hoping for May of 2018 - has anyone ever used small world vacations....they claim to be official. I tried to contact them but on their site it stated they are in NYC till Sunday on a big Disney TA conference.....
Took our first cruise in May and we used Ann @Small World. She was great and we will be using her again!I am checking each day for 2018 dates....my first Disney Cruise hoping for May of 2018 - has anyone ever used small world vacations....they claim to be official. Pardon my lack of knowledge but "DU" what acronym is that for? Another agent?https://www.smallworldvacations.com seems to be the next popular one on the boards after DU (which makes sense since they are the sponsor...!). I haven't used them but many people have commented they are happy with them. My recommendation is if you don't seem to gel well with the first agent they assign you to don't hesitate to ask if you can work with another. Sometimes personalities collide.

Thanks so much for the help.https://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com
The owners of this company are also the owners of the DISboards. They are most likely the largest of all the specialized Disney travel agents out there.
If you are waiting for 2018 you don't have to worry that the itineraries would be opened up during the weekend though. I would think the likelihood of that happening is very very small. In the past years it was usually an announcement on a Tuesday, then repeat cruisers with 5 or more cruises will be able to book on the day after and finally on Thursday repeat cruisers with less than 5 cruises as well as new cruisers would be able to book.
Thanks so much for the help.
Last year I thought when they released the first 2017 dates, they went to the end of May....does anyone recall? I have been watching for sometime....almost obsessed!! I am taking my kids and their families on a cruise with Disney...I am very excited. We were trying for 2017 but had to push out to 2018 due to college schedules and so forth. I am so ready to book. This is a big expense for me and the wife, so I want to get it right. Few questions for those of you that are savvy, and that's a compliment.
1- Best to book early for the best price....correct?
2- Using the Dreams Unlimited or Small world is best versus dealing directly with Disney?
3- Travel insurance suggestions? (normally I would not do this but, its in the future and a large amount)
3- Any other advice, will be well received.
Thanks all.
You folks are the best....so your response gave me another question. I have heard this about Costco being a good choice for Disney cruise- whats so great about their deals? Worth buying a membership over? I only have samsclub......1) Yes. Best price is early (except for last minute sales)
2) DU and SW are good if you want some hand holding. Since this seems to be newish to you, might be a good fit. Costco is your best value, but they really just do what you tell them, instead of them telling you what's best. Dealing with Disney is the easiest, IMO, but the travel agents can give you some perks, such as on board credit, so I use a travel agent for that reason. But for these perks, I would prefer to deal with Disney directly.
3) I recommend getting a credit card that provides trip cancellation/interruption (Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve being two good options). Also, remember, unless booking concierge, the cruise itself is completely refundable until 90 days before the cruise. So, yes, the cruise is far away, but the time of financial exposure -- cruise wise -- is short. Travel insurance does have other benefits, of course, that you may desire -- including covering your airfare, which is not generally refundable.
