???

Wed-Fri. When I was in school it was just TH and Fri, but the classrooms were fairly empty on Wednesday.

children are off wed, thurs, fri. just five days off including sat and sun.

DS is off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.....very happy about that as he is going to help with the baking on Wednesday!:goodvibes

For the Thanksgiving holiday?

DGD has no school Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.. I don't ever recall getting the day before Thanksgiving off from school - do you?

Same here; even the preschools are closed on Wednesday.

I don't recall having that either, but I think it's fair. The teachers need to shop and have travel time too.

We get this whole week. However, today & tomorrow are Parent/Teacher conferences.

This only started a couple years ago. In prior years, our P/T conferences were beginning of November. We only got the Thursday/Friday off for Thanksgiving.

I think they probably had too many parents pulling kids out for the week, so they just decided it made more sense to just take the random 1 1/2 days in November we had off for P/T and move them to Thanksgiving week.

Today is a full day for conferences and tomorrow they only have 1/2 day scheduled for it.

Ouch!!!

I can't believe the number of kids who have so many days off from school - yet often times I have seen where the kids have school on Christmas Eve Day - which to me would seem like a better day to have off..:confused3

Our school district has all week off. Monday and Tuesday are Fall Conference exchange days (teachers do after school conferences for 2 weeks earlier this month and in exchange get the two days off at Thanksgiving that would have been taken off for conferences). Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are Thanksgiving vacation.

Then they go back to school for 3 weeks and have another 2 and a half weeks off. (12/20 - 1/7:scared1: )

:rotfl2: Sounds like ours! We do go back a wee bit earlier in Jan. I think the 5th? Anyway -- DD was just telling me "MOM...we only have 15 days of school & then we get another 2 weeks off". :lmao: Only took her to Freshman year to figure that one out. I told her that's why come January, school just drags on & on & on. After these 2 breaks so close to each other, there is NOTHING. An occassional day here & there but until Spring break, it feels really long comparing the two.

Kids here were supposed to have the entire week off but now it is just Wednesday, Thursday and Friday due to Fay make up days.

We have the whole week off. Why??? This is the second year our system has done this and next year as well. There are no teacher conferences either. Monday and Tuesday are actually built in as make-up days in case there are shut down days for hurricanes.

Before last year we have always had Wednesday-Friday off...even back in the dark ages when I was in school.

Gee and this year dear Cooper Tire has given my DH the whole week off as well...UNPAID. Wish we had some money to go somewhere. DH has only worked 2 or 3 days a week ever since Hurrican Ike. So now with a week unpaid this week and TWO weeks unpaid at Christmas and not knowing if his plant will be the one announced in January as the closing plant.... we have lots of time to stare at each other.

Oh heavens, our district wouldn't want our babies to be so stressed out!

Between now and the end of the school year, our kids will never go more than a 3 1/2 week stretch without a day off. We have Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Professional days, a week off for spring break, a 5 day weekend in April for conference exchange days, etc, etc.

What is amazing is that this district is one of the best in the state. Guess all those professional development days really work.

my kids have gotten the Wednesday the past couple of years too (this year included). The teachers vote on when they want to take their compensatory day(s), which make up for conference evenings according to dh. The past couple of years, they've chosen the day before Thanksgiving. They used to put it around Christmas break, I think.

Now THAT I have never, ever seen. My family does a reunion every year on Xmas Eve (my whole life, it's been that day). Kids from districts all over are there. Sometimes some of them have had school on 12/23, but NEVER 12/24. I would HOPE schools wouldn't do that!!

Half day Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday.. Just like when I was in school.

:thumbsup2 same here..only exception is my 4yo is in afternoon preschool and no afternoon class on Wednesday.

Wed, Thu, Fri here, too.

My neice and nephew in Maine get the whole week off.

I'm sure the schools with longer fall breaks just rearrange the rest of their calendar. I'm willing to bet they have the same 185 (or whatever) required instructional days.

My daughter's out all week. I'm paying through the nose for her to do drop in daycare.

Isn't that crazy? I thought my neighbor was full of bull when she said her kids had the whole week off, but I saw the marquee outside of the jr & high schools says the T'giving holiday is the 24 - 28. Another neighbor, who teaches in the next county over, has school today & tomorrow, I believe.

Gee, when I was a kid in Florida (Broward County, circa mid-1980s) we only got Thursday and Friday. In VA, we got a half day Wednesday and Th & F.

One only Thurs/Fri
One Wed-Fri
One FROM LAST FRIDAY TO THE TUESDAY FOLLOWING THANKSGIVING! Wow.

I just counted - our district is scheduled for exactly 170 days in school.

Just checked DGD's school calendar and this year her Christmas vacation starts on December 24th (yay!!) and she returns to school on January 5th..

Gosh - that's like a whole winter vacation! :thumbsup2
