:offtopic: Have a question regarding carriage rides... I'm looking for something different to do on 10/31 and thought about Fort Wilderness haunted carriage ride... does anyone know if they still offer it or has anyone been on it?? I know we have some Fort Wilderness fans here!! Any help is appreciated!! I'll be calling Disney in the morning to find out, but thought you might be able to help me out now.

Thanks

~N
I would be interested to know this too if anyone has any info. I thought I read somewhere that they discontinued the "haunted" carriage rides; however I believe they have the standard carriage ride. Can anyone confirm? :confused3

Hi! Me again....I have another question. :goodvibes

How is the WiFi in BCV? My 180 day dining reservations open when we are there. I am not a fan of MDE on my phone, but I am trying to get BOG and don't want to wait the extra hour to call.

Another option- would a CM in the lobby be able to help me on their computer?

Yea I read it was discontinued as well...I'm pretty sure they still do the standard ride. I'll let you know tomorrow after I call.

If they stopped doing the "Haunted" part of the carriage ride I can hide in the bushes and jump out and yell boo at you.

All that for free too, so don't pay any up charge on the carriage ride that Disney would try to charge you...

I found the wifi to be great at BCV. Actually all throughout disney it worked very well. When we were in AK I was changing all my FP in line because we were moving through stuff so quickly. I think the disney wifi works very well. I never had any problems at BCV. It even worked at SAB.

Thinking about rearranging some plans........does anyone know if there is a bus to Downtown Disney from the MK?
We sometimes catch the bus to Saratoga Springs and just walk over to DTD from there. Stay on until Congress Park section if you decide to do this for the shortest walk though Cab would probbly be the fastest option :)
CO has added MORE standardized testing, so my lovely 10th graders and I have two more weeks of anger/tears/frustration/test-eating/etc. :sad2:

We have 87 days to go, and I need something to help the time go faster until Summer/ my garden view room. What do you all do to prep without packing 3 months in advance?
I have one of those polypocket A4 files that I put all my documents for the trip inside in the order I need to access them. Plus I start buying sunscreen and toiletries for the trip, a little each week with my groceries to lessen the pain of paying until I have everything and then some more sunscreen just "to be sure" we have enough :lmao:
That is so cool! We tried to hold out once but we broke under pressure. :confused3. Enjoy.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE.

Just finishing our first major holiday without my Dad or my Mother in Law.
We are learning to live life while remembering them.

Thanks disboards for giving me a place to talk.

So sorry for your loss. Hope you are finding joy in planning your trip

Hello everyone. :)

My hubby and I (Tom & Patti) have reservations for a garden view room at the Yacht Club, November 9-15. We had originally began our planning looking at POFQ - but after considering how awesome it is to be able to walk to Epcot & MGM, we went ahead and booked YC. We'll be celebrating 30 years of marriage this November - a stay at the YC is a splurge for us. (Hoping to apply a room only discount once they come out - our air is booked - so we're going either way).

Please add us to the list of happy people planning a stay at YC/BC. :cool1::cool1:

Thank you for this informative thread!! Hope you all had a nice Easter. :)

It's a long way to come so it would be rude not to make the most of it.... Funny thing is I think we are still struggling to fit in all the things we want to do!!
I would definitely want to stay extra long taking a journey that long. You'll have a great time, but make sure to enjoy some "down time" at the pool. You'll probably have to do laundry sometime. I know we did when we were there only 8 nights.

Thank you all for the advice. Keeping the trip a secret is SO hard! Think I might cave for Easter:)
We have kept this trip secret from the kids this time too. I was originally going to put their MBs in their Easter baskets in the morning however now DH wants to wake them up next Saturday morning and go straight to the airport. Never done that so that might be fun!:cheer2:

DjdBrit, When are you doing your reveal and how?
It is sooo hard isn't it?!? We surprised my son 2 Easters ago with a trip to Disney. We had an easter egg hunt and the last egg had his surprise to Disney. Now he thinks the Easter bunny is going to bring that every year but little does he know we are going in June ;) We are headed to Miami first and he knows about that, but doesn't know the grand finale of our trip. I'm trying to think of ways to do the big reveal, especially since he thinks we'll be heading back to the airport but we'll be heading to Disney!
Well, we had to cave on our surprise. Hubby said that when I was "feeling the kids out" on vacations, they never mentioned Disney, only the boys wanting to go to Kennedy Space Center. So, I had to flat out ask them. And I should have not second-guessed myself. Of COURSE they wanted to go to Disney World.

Hi Robyn! It's been awhile since I've posted! Lately off and on I have lurked to see what the latest is on my favorite forum!! Hello to Dee, Teena, DM, Ninja, YCFAN, and everyone else!

It sounds like you have a nice trip planned. The best thing at Universal parks is the FOTL when staying onsite. We loved that a few years ago. Of course we are seeing a lot of ads up here for the new Harry Potter land opening up this summer. I'm sure we'll need to get back there!

Hmmmm....DIS meet on Aug 18th?! I would love to be there...my daughter keeps begging for a mother-daughter trip this summer haha.

Next month we are headed to Hawaii. Our last four nights (first week in June) are in Oahu staying at the Aulani (first 10 are in Maui). I have never taken a trip for this long (nor this expensive! That part scares me!).

Anyway enjoy your spring break!!

Kerry

Hi Kerry!!! Wow, Hawaii sounds awesome. I'll be looking forward to all your photos.

Sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate a 30th anniversary. Or any anniversary, if you ask me. :cloud9:

Alright... I called and was informed that they have the Carriage Ride in the system for 10/31 which means that the Haunted Carriage Ride will NOT be happening... they discontinued it 2 years ago, and because the regular Carriage Ride is in the system means they will not be offering the Haunted Ride. I will still book the regular carriage ride because as the cast member said they take you up and down where the campsites are and lots of guests decorate for Halloween so it should be fun! I need to add some different things to my trip anyway and this is one tour I haven't done yet!! I have to call back at 180 days and book it. That is soon!!

If they stopped doing the "Haunted" part of the carriage ride I can hide in the bushes and jump out and yell boo at you.

Ok you are hired!! :scared1:

We did this at Christmas. Takes about 30 minutes. The ride goes through the campsites to see some of the decorations, people really decorate their campsites a lot. Will definitely do this again when we go this year!!!

Hello from the YC! We have been having a great time. On Saturday, we went to MK. The lines were great. They even let us tide some rides 2x in a row. So different from XMAS! Yesterday we did DHS. Once again the lines were great. We barely needed our Fp selections. We r staying in GV room on CL. Our room is fine. We watched a wedding this morning. Mickey and Minnie were there. It was so sweet. Off to EPCOT today.

We told the kids last night! They were super excited and helped me switch out and change a couple of dining reservations :yay:. They are very happy to be staying at the BC, and super grateful as Disney was not on our vacations plans this year.

Feeling happy.

Time to get a countdown!

I can't remember. Is there a charge for the Wi-Fi?

Nope!

IMHExperience I have never had trouble with the WIFI at any Disney RESORT including the BC. As for the hotel Wifi it's always worked great for me at Pop, CBR, POR, and the BC.

The MDE phone APP disaster via your phone in the parks is another story with slow to no functionality.

To help you keep what I am about to tell you straight you need to understand that I am talking about two different things: A) The non functioning PHONE APP for My Disney Experience (MDE) and B) the Disney web site that has a My Disney Experience page that you can use.

Phone APP MDE = BAD/non functioning (for many people)
Web site MDE = mostly works (for most people)

Your best bet is to make changes to FP+ on your device (computer/tablet) in your room ON the Disney Web site portal to the MDE page and NOT on the fly in the parks with your phone trying to access the MDE phone APP.

Again this is my experience with a Verizon/GalaxyS4 phone last March and EVERY other trip with other smart phones versions I have owned. I suspect that ATT subscribers are the few people that the "in park Wifi" actually works correctly for. Since I can never get the Free Disney Wifi to load pages quickly or even at all I never use the free WIFI at the Disney parks and always access the net via Verizon on my Verizon phone.

As an aside, with more and more of your Disney "experience" is becoming dependent on pre-made online reservations, it pays to be able to "prove" that you have that FP+ or Dining reservation in the event that there are problems with Disney's computers. I had an experience where I had a FP+ for Big Thunder Mountain and the Mickey head tap style would not turn green even though I was within my time window.

~I was able to show the CM the reservation on my phone (After it took the MDE APP page an eternity to load I gave up and went to the web site to access the page) and they finally let me through.~

So the moral of this story is to know how to access those pages on your phone, when IN the parks to Prove that you have the FP+/Dining reservation ~~~ either by using the non functioning MDE phone APP or by going to the Disney Web page and logging into the MDE section via the web PAGE and not the APP in the event of a system hang up.

Based upon all the incidental reports of occasional long lines at the FP+ Mickey Head tap styles I'm thinking that more than a few people are having problems with the system not accurately recognizing their legitimate FP+ and it's not tons of people trying to scam the system like you see people on the Dis whining about.

My boys really helped me figure all this out so I thought I would pass this info/experience off to you...

Last summer stayed at YC standard room. We had the rooms right over the main entrance with a giant patio/ balcony which since we had 3 rooms it was great since we could all sit out there in the mornings and have breakfast. This year we are staying at BC standard. What should I request as far as location..I know not all rooms have balconies so that will be one of my request.

Ninja Mom. You have nailed it with this info. Stay away from the App. It lives on the darkside. :crazy2:

So, seeming as I mentioned the darkside in the post above, it's time to admit......I have booked a night on the darkside. Yeah, those pesky FOTL passes got me :lmao:

If you are talking about multiple rooms together, you might want to consider a ground floor request. Then if your rooms are next to one another you should be able to move between the patios. I am assuming this is possible with a standard room ... we were able to with lagoon view rooms.
