So, now that I'm staying SL CL, I'm doing some research on rooms. I went back and looked at Trishadono's floor plan sketch and put in my room request as my main request is a king bed. I then added my next preference would be the 4th floor (to avoid CL noise and footsteps above us), marina view, with a balcony. I know these are all just requests but it doesn't hurt to ask right?! I don't know how many king rooms there are in the building, much less on the 4th floor with a balcony facing the marina, but we shall see!

I do have another question though that I don't think I've heard mentioned on here, unless this person is talking about the dormer rooms (?), but I was reading a review on TripAdvisor from 2012 that said: "The concierge desk is staffed until 10:00 PM. We requested and received a lodge tower room. These rooms are the standard GF room with an additional area that includes a couch, chair and another TV. There are only 3 lodge tower rooms in the building and must be requested. Two of these rooms have a balcony."

Are these the dormer rooms people have mentioned? Does anyone know if the dormer rooms have a king bed and, if so, which ones have the king and the balcony? Or is this referencing a different type of room?

I'm really asking some specific questions here - LOL! So TIA!!

Lodge tower refers to the rooms that are in the turrets. This photo is not SL but same concept. The rooms have the octagonal windows in the sitting area. None of them offer a king bed(this I know for sure). I am not sure there are any kings in standard room in SL, I really don't think so but hopefully someone else knows for sure. The lodge tower room numbers are 6220,6320,6420. 6420 does not have a balcony and the others have a long narrow balcony. We have stayed in 6320 twice and the extra space makes for a very nice room. However, there are only 3 and they are one of the most requested rooms, and you might have to deal with no balcony.

Edited to add: Touringplans shows all SL rooms(other than suites)featuring 2 queen beds and daybed.

Thanks so much Baler! I thought maybe the "lodge tower" was the "dormer rooms" but wanted to make sure. I appreciate the confirmation.

Although, I'm really nervous about there being no king rooms in SL! Of all my requests the only thing I really, really want is a king bed. Most hotels let you book a king room. It's just my husband and myself and that second queen bed just takes up room and isn't used...plus, we always sleep on a king and like our space. For 6 nights on a queen we may get grumpy with each other! Can I call the main Disney number and ask?

I just went back and checked the Disney website and it says:
Outer Bldg - Standard Room - Club Level Access
Views of Courtyard Pool or Marina
2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed or 2 Queen Beds or 1 King Bed and 1 Day Bed or 1 King Bed and 1 Double-Size Sleeper Sofa

Would your guess be that the Disney website is wrong or that TPs is? Or that maybe they put some people in another building besides the SL building??

Again, thanks so much!

The only rooms that I am aware of that have a king bed ( if I remember correctly???..lol) are rooms 6122, 6222,6322 and 6422....The 4th floor room is definitely a dormer room..meaning it has the cathedral ceiling..and the enclosed balcony.... Be aware tho that many of the puter building king rooms are HA also..which may mean no bath tub but rather a roll in shower....as Baler correctly stated the lodge tower rooms (which have had a few different designations over the years aka deluxe tower..and a few others...lol..) are rooms 6220 ( enclosed balcony due to the portico roof line), 6320 and also 6420 (no balcony) BTW..6122 is tucked right in the corner right next to the closed area where there is laundry/trash collection..and has a wall right in front of the balcony....:headache: so def not a good view! HTH...and didn't confuse you :upsidedow .... I have a friend who has stayed in these rooms ..I will text her just to verify the info....

While different in lounge ambiance...we very much have enjoyed our stays in SL...its a great building..has terrific CL CMs...and couldn't be more centrally located on the property...Not to mention the great convenience of having the lounge located right in the lobby of the building...so easy to grab a beverage or a bite when coming and going...I know that you are going to have a grand trip!!! :cloud9:

The balcony areas of room 62, 63 and 6422 in SL...the lodge towers rooms are rooms that you 2015-07-22 17.43.59.jpg see just to the left...that small bump out is the seating area in those rooms...

I have no idea, other than I rarely trust Disney's website on anything. It is notoriously wrong and has outdated info. But, I have no personal experience with kings in SL. Just don't remember anyone mentioning having one before. I did look at 6122 after Blueskies posted the number and double checked and TP shows that as 2 queens. They could certainly be wrong.

Honestly, I would call IPO and ask them and find out it they are HA. I can tell you that I do not like the HA rooms for a family. May be different in your situation. Usually, one sink, enclosed bathrooms, others cannot be getting ready while someone is showering. Automatic door that stays open forever, for everyone walking by to see your room and to me a security risk if you don't wait for it to close when you leave. So, I would ask IPO and make a choice based on that.

Just saw your response, sorry. Don't call the main number, they really have no idea. IPO can actually check a room chart for you and tell you what you want to know. Let them know you realize that it is a request but wanted to know about kings in SL and if they are all are HA. If the options are off the lobby, I would not take those rooms if you paid ME.

Thanks Baler and Blue!! Soooooo helpful!!

I wish you all knew me in real life so you could believe me when I say that I am not one prone to dramatics (over exaggerations - maybe), so please excuse me the drama for which I am about to indulge!!

I finally had my heart (insert the sound of the pitter patter of my heart for effect) set on staying in an outer building! After all, SL looks amazing and the property does look gorgeous, and it's convenient to all the plans I already made with ADRs. And honestly, I'll be staying at the GF so I realize I'm still a lucky, lucky gal! I could sleep at night.

Now my heart is in palpitations at the thought of a room with two queens in front of the noisy lobby (swoon)!

Haha - OK...thanks for indulging that dramatic flair! I would rather pay the rack rate for a standard club if I can get a better chance at a king in a relatively quiet location that's not HA. I wish I could just book a king room outside of the $1,000 a night king deluxe with no discount (although admittedly I did look to see if it's still available and it's gone - haha). I'll take your advice Baler and email IPO!! Hopefully I get a CM who's willing to help me with my conundrum!

Again, I can't say it enough, but thank you!!

Honestly, I would call IPO. There will be less back and forth, you can easily ask follow ups. They are usually very helpful and will go get someone who knows the answer if necessary.

Nashville is a great city and the Opryland Gaylord is gorgeous and at Christmas it's fantastic! We're not sure about the MCMVP yet. I think I'd like the Halloween party more than the Christmas party but we've not done either...I'm still on the fence. I think the party would be fun but when I was telling my DH about the Christmas parades he looked at me like he thought it was pretty lame! Maybe if we ever have kids I can get him excited for parades and Disney parties :rotfl:
We're not into parades. They make it snow on main street, and they have hot cocoa and snicker doodle stations set up all over the park! Everybody is in such a gloriously festive mood too. I remember people in line for Thunder Mountain RR singing and clapping along to Jingle Bell Rock while dancing their way through the very fast moving line! That's the great thing about the parties too...short lines. There are no FP because you don't need them! We only waited 20 minutes for Mine Train last October:) and you can get into the park at 4pm, so if you don't have AP, you don't even buy a regular park ticket for that day...you just hang out at the pool!

how do input in a room request for SL CL? Do I call, email or fax?Or do I just online check in.. We are about 50 days out.

I love scoring decent priced upgrades at the gate!! Although that seems rare for me these days!!
Yes, they seem to be getting rarer for sure. I sometimes luck out at 24 hr online check out! Once at gate. I asked gate agent and she said no, then a man swapped his first class for coach (apparently wife was mad he upgraded to coach but not her lol) so gate agent waved me to come over & I the first class seat lol!!

Take off and descent is the most common usage. One of my children and myself have to wear them the entire duration of flights. However, we have severe and chronic eustachian tube dysfunction. We also add Afrin(unless you have a contraindication, and don't use for more than 2-3days)seems to work better than sudafed for this problem(for us anyway).

not to beat a dead horse but this is the method my dh has always used and it is the ONLY way he can fly. he used to have horrendous ear problems for the whole duration of every trip just from the flight down. out whole honeymoon he was in so much pain. a flight steward told him to use claritin and afrin before every flight. that helped but only somewhat. it wasn't until he found the ear planes and combined them with the afrin that he has been problem-free. and by the way, i am cracking up because every time i have typed afrin it has autocorrected to farina!

Haha - that's funny that the wife got mad! I used to travel more and would regularly get upgraded. If my DH was with me I would take the upgrade one way and give him the upgrade on the way back...someone should take advantage of the free drinks and snacks!!

Lol, did you have to sit next to the mad wife?

We only got an upgrade once and that was only an hour flight. I barely had enough time to finish one drink.

My DH jokes about this happening all the time because he's platinum level with Delta and usually gets upgraded. I totally understand the woman's frustration, because in my case, DH gets to fly First Class all the time... So now if he gets upgraded and I don't get upgraded with him, he gives the seat to me:) If the kids are with us, I just let him have it. We always get economy comfort at least anyway, and I think they just started giving free drinks to those in that level too...although it may be just one drink??

They are far more rigid and have grooves. They are not very comfortable, but better than the alternative if you have severe eustachian tube problems. I have one that prefers the Flight Mate brand they don't have grooves but a flared end. One seems to work better and be more comfortable for most people. They are not dreadfully expensive so you may want to try both. I have found the best price on Amazon.
I just wanted to say thanks again for the earplanes recommendation! I saw them at Walgreen's yesterday -they only had that one brand. I am still trying to figure out why DD's pediatrician didn't know about them since a few other people on this thread knew about them too! I feel like DD11 has been suffering needlessly for years:(
