Good Evening.
On behalf of Yacht and Beach Club Resorts at Walt Disney World, the place where dreams come true, we welcome all of you to the new FAQ Thread.
We've gathered here tonight around the fire, as people of all lands have gathered for thousands and thousands of years before us, to share the light and to share a story -- an amazing story, as old as time itself, but still being written.
And though each of us has our own individual stories to tell, a true adventure emerges when we bring them all together as one. We hope you enjoy our story tonight

Thanks again, everyone, for making it over and for appreciation!

:grouphug:

And thanks from me too for the thread, Dee!! :thanks: We are still about a month and a half away from trying to book Beach Club (renting points), so this thread is helping me from going completely insane while waiting to book! :rotfl: :hyper:

Fingers crossed that you get the booking you want!!! Be sure to let us know.

:cool1:

Thanks Dee!! Just got home Thursday after a wonderful month in Florida! I think I may take a stab at unpacking tomorrow, lol!! I'm thinking next Aug it's back to YC!! We love BC too, but YC has the full balconies, which is important to me! Even in August :-)

Sounds like a plan!

:)

We have the Contemporary *or* the Beach Club as our next resort early June of next year.

Is it true that that all of the Beach Club rooms are going to be refurbished this fall?

If so, that will greatly influence our decision to stay there.

Thanks in advance!

:welcome:

Teena addressed your question with what we know about the room refurb-wish we had a timetable, but as time goes on, we should know more about the schedule and how long the work is taking.

Are you planning on spending a majority of your time in MK or EPCOT/HS or a mix of all parks? That is a deciding factor for a lot of people about where they choose to stay.

If we can answer any other questions for you, please let us know.

:goodvibes

Because you are such a party animal this banana is for YOU!

~NM

Thanks for those!!! But remember, bunches of dancing bananas always travel in packs of 3!

:thumbsup2

That whole video made me smile. You got the Beast to dance! Your daughter did a great job!

When I ordered my first Sunken Treasure, a woman approached me and asked what I got. I said it wasn't on the menu and I couldn't remember what was in it, but people I knew said it was fabulous. A few minutes later, she passed our table, carrying her own Sunken Treasure, said "cheers!" with a big smile on her face and we clinked glasses.

Love this story of yet another and another ST convert!

:drinking1

Is this thread for October also?

it is for all BC and YC discussion. And it includes October. :)

As mentioned above, this is the thread we should all be using, no matter when your trip is. Due to the activity on this forum, we have to start a new thread every 4-6 months, and it helps me keep track when I list the actual dates the thread is being used.

:thumbsup2

Add us again! So happy just booked the BCV for March 14 to 21. So excited to return again. My parents are going to join me and my dd and ds for two nights also.

Let the planning begin!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

We returned on Thursday from an 11 night stay at YC. I was nervous about the resort before we left, but I definitely should not have been!! It is easily our new favorite resort! :thumbsup2

We had room 4186. It was a standard view. We had a big tree in front of us and were totally fine with that. The room was very clean and didn't seem worn in the least. Our housekeeping was great too! It was nice to be fairly close to the lobby elevators. I don't think we could have asked for a better standard view room! :goodvibes

The pool was awesome! I wish we could have spent longer there, but most of our time was spent in the parks. It truly was like having your own water park right at your resort. The kids absolutely loved it!

We also had great bus service. We rarely had to wait long for a bus to show up. Downtown Disney was always the worst transportation but I think that is the case for every resort so it didn't bother me too much. We loved the walk to Epcot! So close!!! And while the walk to Hollywood Studios was a bit longer, I still enjoyed getting the extra exercise! ;)

All in all it was an absolutely fantastic trip! I really can't think of any complaints at YC. I had some other minor disappointments, but definitely none about the resort!! And boy did I love the lobby smell every time we walked in from the parks! :thumbsup2

I really miss it already! :(

Thank you so much for the report about your trip! I'm glad you had a great time and loved the YC!

:yay:

THIS.

 IT!

After 2 years of planning, we had an 18 day stay at The Yacht Club and my daughter has put this short video together if our stay. I hope you watch and enjoy. http://youtu.be/k2bB9upgAp4
Unbelievable job on the video! It really put a smile on our faces this morning while watching it. Your daughter did a great job of planning the video and executing the plan. Hats (and ears) off to her and your son.

Thanks for all the positive feedback on the video. It was great fun getting the characters to dance, most of them jumped at the chance apart from( obviously) Elsa :-) Special thanks must go to SAB Life Guards, we managed to get them out of their comfort zone which was an achievement.
DD feels very proud of herself today reading all the compliments, thank you xxx

What was the group dance in front of a stage? Is that at Hollywood Studio's?

Yes, the main stage. It was a dance party that popped up in the afternoon with lots of the characters, and after the dance finished they all went over to the entrance of The Great Movie Ride and just mingled, it was amazing. I've never known such random character interaction before, even Green Soldier was just sat on the kerb hiding behind a leaf, LOL people didn't even notice he was there for ages, it was so funny ! HS is my new favourite park :-)

I'm glad that you enjoyed the YC. :) Did your room have a daybed?

This by far is one of the best Disney video I've seen! It really shows how much fun you can make for yourself -- and others! Thank you for sharing!!!

Not the same resort forum but major pixie dust for my daughter's friend who just checked into the Wilderness Lodge today. They got upgraded to the presidential suite.
Awesome! :cool1:

We are very excited to be staying at the YC for the first time in early November. We are only there one night before heading off to our timeshare. Our plan is to enjoy Epcot since its in walking distance and SAB for the kids. What would you all recommend...hitting Epcot early and staying at SAB the rest of the day or save Epcot for the later part of the day? Our boys are young ages 5 & 7. It gets a little overwhelming planning out everything (ADR's & FP+) ahead of time.

My initial thought was to plan on our room not being ready since we are arriving aroun 10 am and just going to Epcot first...but Im worried the kids will see the pool and not want to leave. However I love Epcot in the later part of the day. We plan on hanging out at SAB after the breakfast for awhile before we leave to get more time in at the pool area for the kids.

We have a 10 night stay coming up (9 nts yc and arrival night is tbd) and I am nervous too. We stayed at BC last year and  it, but I am not so sure about YC. Just seems more "serious" over there, and further from BCM, etc. Glad to hear you were pleasantly surprised. It is all that's available, so giving it a try. I am sure it will be great, I just stress about everything being perfect. :rolleyes1

What were you minor disappointments?

Anyone have input on weather for mid November?

I would head into Epcot first and do the fun kid stuff, first, like Nemo, Turtle Talk, and whatever rides they enjoy. Then I would head back for swim time. I'd go back to Epcot in the evening to enjoy the activities in the World Showcase, ending with Illuminations. If you watch it from France then it is an easy walk back to the YC, since the crowd is mostly heading the other way. :) We found a spot next to the frozen slush booth in France to be a pretty good view. And it wasn't crowded.

You can also spend the evening at the pool and watch the high fireworks from the pool area. There is a campfire and movie on the beach for kids, too. The walk into Epcot is so short, 5 to 10 minutes, you can easily do everything you want at the pool and still pop into Epcot for a bit, too. :)

I  evenings in Epcot, so I suggest going that route. Link up your tix so you can get 3 FP+. Your room might be ready, but if not the pool will entertain your kids until it is.

Thank you Dee for the new thread! It's going to be fun to get to follow one from the beginning.:)
