Having a wonderful stay here at the Yacht Club. We are quickly becoming lovers of this resort. Cannot wait to stay at the Beach Club in December. My husband wants me to check out 2 bedroom suites for us and one of my children and their families. I know the suites are not on the 5 th floor, but are they close to elevators to get to the 5 th floor?

My other 2 children will be on the 5 th floor. I think my husband is thinking of having a living room for us to gather in. We will be here for my birthday and it will be nice to have the space for us to have cake. This is assuming my wonderful children order me one!

I'll show you the locations of the two bedroom suites tomorrow.

Hi from freezing cold England!!

We are staying at the BC in late August and have booked a garden view room.

We would like a room towards the Epcot end of the hotel, but one feature of the room we definitely require is a full balcony!

Can anyone offer any advice as to what areas / room number requests i need to make, as looking at various plans has made me very confused!!

Many thanks,

Jon

Pretty sure it won't be freezing cold for you in Florida in August!

Sounds like you will wisely be using Teena's recommendation for wording your room request.

:thumbsup2

Hello, we're planning our first YC stay in August and I'm kind of obsessing about room storage. (Some people have that knack of sizing up a room and instantly knowing just where to put everything, but I am sadly not one of them!) I was looking into getting some of the ebag packing cubes for our luggage because everyone says they're so great to just set inside the drawers in your room, but I'm not sure what sizes would be best. (We'll be flying Southwest, so we'll have plenty of luggage room.) Taking that thought a step further... :rolleyes2...I'm wondering if anyone has ever measured all the drawers/cubbies in the room? I thought it might be nice to have our toiletries in bins under the sink, maybe a shoe box type "junk drawer" bin for the cubby in the low dresser and how do people use that liquor cabinet thing beside the fridge? (besides the obvious ;)) Any thoughts or ideas? TIA

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Love love love your question. I plan on taking a tape measure on my trip in July, to measure the dimensions of the safe. Unfortunately, based on reports from others, I think the safes in the rooms may be different sizes.

I have heard the storage may vary in the rooms, also. For our two stays, the storage included a 4 drawer chest and some drawers in the tv storage unit as well as the closet.

I'll check in a minute to see if I have pictures of the drawers and under the sink.

There's even a little storage space next to the fridge

DW and I decided to spend a few days at the YC after we drop off DS at college in Melbourne (Florida Tech). We will be staying at the YC in a GV CL room from August 15 - 18. Got a reasonable price with the GP discount, but I'll try to apply the bounceback discount to the reservation while we're at OKW next month (or maybe a better AP discount will be released).

First vacation (although very short) without DS in over 16 years! What were we thinking?!?!? :confused3

I'll add you to the list!

:woohoo:

My DH and I took our first vacation in 14 years without the kids last April to celebrate our 25th anniversary and it was wonderful!

Is late August really considered a busy time?

:welcome:

Do you have an upcoming stay in August or another time?

This year, especially, I have heard about a lot of really great deals that people have been booking for late August.

Six weeks from today!!! Can't wait.

I know my ticker is wrong - ds did it for me a few years ago and now that he's out on his own I don't know how to change it! It just keeps replaying year after year!!!

To the poster who asked about the patio. Twice at YC and one time when we had a deluxe cl room at BC we had a patio. We really liked it - it definitely takes away the "balcony" stress.

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Do you want me to talk you through fixing your ticker? You need to click on it to bring you to the place where you can change the date (and background and slider if you so choose). Once it looks the way you want it, you copy of the code into your signature (by clicking on the User CP tab in the upper left corner)

:goodvibes

At BC now and it's really lovely! Arrived yesterday with the family and staying Standard Room Club Level. We requested and received a full balcony and the view is really nice. We are facing the courtyard and there is a roof a little below us but we can see the fireworks from MK! Will have to figure out how to post pics at some point but we are close to the elevator/lounge area. It is a tad noisy but the twins seem to be sleeping through it okay. I was bummed to find no daybed though as we are a party of 6 and I thought it was automatic with 5? But we have 3 kids and they are packed so I guess they assumed we'd be okay with cribs and sharing. My sister really wanted her own bed though so they got a trundle for ODS. A little crowded now but it works.

Weather is pretty hot but gorgeous at night. Took a couple walks around the Boardwalk last night first to grab some food at the Boardwalk bakery and then again after we got back to the room and DH ate my gluten free sandwich by mistake. :( ESPN was the only thing open at that point but just a note if you are looking for a meal after 11 they are open but only serving appetizers. I think room service is still an option though.

We had a fabulous day of pixiedust yesterday. Checking in a lovely woman gave the kids gifts of books and Cars toys she told them came from Mickey Mouse. And a pink tiara for me! It was so sweet and what a special way for our kids to start off vacation. The CM said she and her family are regulars. I just thought it was so incredible a guest would do that for another guest. Only at Disney! We are going to pay it forward before we leave as well.

We had a wonderful experience at Crystal Palace for lunch. Chef Paul was great with all the food allergy information for me and the kids and prepared some foods they could eat that were not out on the buffet. He came back to our table a few times to check on us and gave us fast pass tickets for the family for 3 rides! Which was awesome because we were only in the park for a few more hours so we walked right onto Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh and Little Mermaid.

Then my 4 year old came back to the room at the end of the night with a huge bouquet of balloons. He was with my sister on the Boardwalk and someone asked if he'd like them and said they were cleaning up. He was so excited about them. He also really loved the juggling act.

Well sounds like the twins are waking from their nap so I'm off to get them ready to head back to Epcot!

Thanks for the report of your stay so far! Hope the good times continue for you!

:yay:

Are there pictures or descriptions of the kind of flatbreads that are the daily chef creations? For example, would it be like spinach or BBQ chicken? or something more exotic?

Here's a couple of pictures from the Marketplace thread:

Hi there,

Does anyone know when the Epcot area resort Quick Service places begin serving lunch?

Our ME bus will probably pick us up around 11:30 or 11:45, so we'd like to pick something up to take with us to eat at the airport.

Thanks!

:welcome:

Would you like me to add you to the Page 1 Be Our Guest list for late May?

According to the signs hanging in the Beach Club Marketplace, Breakfast is served from 7 am to 11 am and lunch starts at 11.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary at the Yacht Club May 26-30, and then boarding the Disney Dream for a quick cruise. I can't believe I'm finally getting to stay at my dream resort, and club level no less! We have been to WDW several times, and so this trip is one where we will be spending the majority of our time at the resort enjoying the amenities rather than going full speed through the parks. I haven't wanted to post our plans for fear something would happen and we would have to cancel (silly, I know), but I think it's safe now, lol. Just wanted to share my excitement! :hyper:

Congratulations! DH and I are celebrating our 20th at the BCVs in a couple of weeks! Enjoy yourselves!!!

Thank you. That is the kind of info. I need. Yes, you can add us. We'll be at the BCVs from May 29th-June 8th. It will be our 20th anniversary while we are there, too. :-)

Yippee!!! Boy do I need a vaca!!

Congratulations! You will love both destinations! My only problem with Disney Dream was my cruise was too short! Enjoy your travels and anniversary!

Thanks Tiggerish, that makes sense. Do you have any experience with the roll away bed, does it take up a lot of space in the room or is there any other major drawbacks to having a roll away vs. a daybed?

We had a roll away last year at AKL and it was okay to sleep on and folded up easily to tuck into a corner during the day. Bottom line, would prefer a day bed but acceptable.

And, Natebenma, thank you for the flat bread photos. They are exactly what was needed.

Although I've never actually measured the drawers I can tell you that my family can fit 34,000 pairs of Levis button fly jeans in the drawers at the resort.

Hope that helps....

I made some dining reservations this morning. I logged in 180 days before the trip at 6 am and tried to get breakfast at the Garden Grille- it was my 3rd res, and I could not get a res for 3 or 4 people for the 6 nights we have available. How good is the Garden Grille? I was shocked. We will go sometime in the future, it is not that big a deal. On a happier res note, I was able to get Ohana for 3 diff nights (I need to decide when I want to go still, I will cancel 2 of them soon. My DH has never eaten there and is a major carnivore - I cannot wait to take him there. I did not try for be Our Guest as their dinner menu isn't perfect for us right now- I will try to go there for lunch one day.

Does anyone know the location of the BC CL 1 bedroom suites and if they have full balconies?

I'm the same way. Really worried about having enough space for all of our stuff for two weeks. Plus I'm definitely one if those who over packs! We purchased some of those sweater/shoe holders that attach to the rungs in the closet to store our shoes and some clothes. Think I found them in the dollar spot at Target. Also bought an over the door toiletry bag from bed bath and beyond to hang on the back of the bathroom door. :). Can't help with any sizes of drawers since this is our 1st stay. Hope the summer goes by quickly for you and you have a wonderful time!

Thanks, you too! Love the closet organizer idea, so easy to pack also. Let me know if you have any other inspirations, I already planned my park days so now I just have the resort to obsess over :rolleyes1

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Thanks, our trip is 8/25 - 8/31. Thank you for posting those detailed room photos; it really looks like there's quite a bit of storage!

They do not all have full balconies. They are on the first, second, third and fourth floors, scattered pretty much all over. One of them is the room at the very end of the resort, 1501, 2501, etc. Nice and close to Epcot but as far as possible away from the elevators to the fifth floor lounge.

I am not sure I am reading correctly- but if you are trying Garden Grille for breakfast- I don't believe they serve breakfast. But then you mention "6 nights" so maybe you mean dinner but if you are trying to schedule breakfast, double check to see if they offer breakfast.:confused3:confused3

Thank you Teen! We'll be arriving at the Beach Club on 6/28 I'm hoping you'll be there so I could thank you in person for all the helpful information you share on this thread.

Could you possibly be confusing Garden Grille with Garden Grove? Garden Grove is located in the Swan hotel and has a wonderful character breakfast. It's a hidden gem IMO bc it's rarely as chaotic as some of the other character breakfasts. I think Garden Grille is lunch/dinner only. Okay food and the restaurant moves. I think my opinion would definitely be higher if I hadn't been 9 weeks preggo.

Well I guess that makes sense as to why I didn't get the reservation- sheesh. :) I did mean breakfast, and I have no idea why it didn't occur to me that they don't have breakfast.

Quick question! We are putting together a basket for the club level cast members. When would be the best time to give it to them? We were thinking maybe either during the middle if our stay or at the end. TIA

You leave my List husband ALONE!! Get your own man! After all there is still HubbDave, jakeybake and Dan's Dad and let's not forget HuncleMarco!

Yes Mike, have a fantastic trip and leave that man 'stealin' woman alone!

Now now, what kind of talk is that?!!! :sad2: if your nice we may send you a pic!

Darn tooting I do! When you're a fly with a wife who lays hundreds of eggs a day it's larva this and larva that 24-7-30 days or so. And let me tell you that woman can shop. She is constantly finding new places to lay the eggs and I have to be the one that finds them to round them up. Do you know how long it takes to put tiny life jackets on all those kids when we go to Storm Along Bay? Just about as soon as you are finished somebody runs over and tells you they are hungry or have to use the bathroom!!!!!

Signed, your exhausted pal ..... Buzzy the Fly
You poor thing :rotfl: maybe you should go over to Epcot and sample some of those slushies! That will fix you right up!

I agree. We've been there a few times during the third/fourth week of August and it's been pretty busy. A lot of schools (especially up north) start back up right after Labor Day, so you have a lot of last minute vacationers.
I first started going end of August because the parks were empty. There was a sig. difference in crowds between the 3rd & 4th week. Most attractions were walk ons the last week. But the past 2 or 3 yrs I've noticed increased crowds :sad1: still lower then other times I guess. Selfishly I sure enjoyed the low crowds of the past!

Buzzy, there is a special discount at another resort just for you...it is at the Roach Motel on Fly Drive...they have a special scent there, too...Eau -de-raid...or something. And maggots stay free!
