News Live from BC:

Arrived back at the hotel this afternoon to find 2 letters from BC management.

#1 says that the Stone Harbor Club will be closed for refurbishment beginning tomorrow, August 27th. No end date is given. While the refurbishment is being done guests will use the Presidential Suite as the club lounge.

#2 says that they will be replacing carpets throughout the resort from 10am-5pm beginning Monday.

So add these to the closures of Hurricane Hanna's and the gym and you've got a hotel that's missing a lot of its amenities... It's interesting to me that they would plan all of this at once.

:(

We're staying YC in a few weeks, and reading this makes me nervous for my trip--like maybe they are starting the BC refurbs now, and then will move on to YC, and will be doing them when we are there...

Have you checked out the "Presidential Suite" version of the club lounge yet? Does it seem ok?

We returned yesterday from a FANTASTIC six-day stay at the Beach Club....so sad to be home, reading all of these reports! I didn't have much time or access to post or read the thread while we were there, and it's been fun catching up and reading everyone's recent comments and reviews.

Here's a "not-so-brief" trip report!

-First off, we walked into the lobby and Teena was there to greet us! It was so great that she was the first person we saw. It was busy, so after chatting for a bit, she took us right up to the Club Level herself where Neil checked us in. We booked a lagoon view room. On our reservation, I requested to be over the back entrance as SAB was pretty noisy during our last stay. Also asked for a full balcony (hey, a girl can dream, right?). Well...we got both! Our room was perfect, exactly what I wanted, directly over the back entrance with a full balcony and this view:

Yay!

Everyone we encountered on the Club Level floor was great. We found the CM's to be super friendly and accommodating, particularly Hyacinth and Laurie. We never had to wait if we needed to speak with them, and they handled all of our questions right away. The lounge never seemed very full at the times we were there, we always got a seat (there were four of us), although the serving area is definitely cramped. Even though we didn't have an issure, I want to know WHY don't they add more chairs?? I don't get it. Each table can seat four people comfortably, there should be four chairs for each one. Doesn't make sense! Also, what is the proper line etiquette? People lined up to get their plates, forming one line. If I only want, say, a coffee, do I need to stay in the line, or can I just jump in? Curious what those of you who have been there think....

The room itself was exactly what I expected. The balcony served as an extra room for us....love hanging out there! The toilet/shower area is TINY...but we found the sink area to be very spacious and it make it easy for all of us to get ready in the wee hours every morning. Our room was spotless when we checked in. Everything was in fine working order. Mousekeeping was great! So nice! They cleaned most days between 10 and 12. Not one towel animal...:sad2:

Here is a video I took from our balcony. It's nothing special.....Note the flag just off our balcony. Pretty, right? Well...every time the wind blew it squeaked like crazy. Maintenance needs to get some WD40 on that baby, stat!

Edited: Ooops, sorry. Trying to figure out how to post it!

I need to log off right now...but have lots to report on SAB, crowds, restaurants, etc..!!

Continuing on.....

This was our fourth time staying at BC. We just love it. And each time we stay, we love it that much more. I guess I am just waiting for something to happen for me to decide to give another resort a try, but each stay just gets more and more magical for us. My kids, 19 and 21, absolutely love the place. Each time we come back, they are at different ages and so they are discovering more things to do that they never tried before. For my newly "legal" son, this included drinking his way around World Showcase, and hanging out with his new best friend, Rocky the pool waitress!!! Every afternoon he planted himself on a chair at SAB, and sampled the best that Hurricane Hannah's had to offer.

So, speaking of SAB....We are "rope-droppers". Every morning, we are the first one's in the park, and probably some of the first one's to leave. We either grab a sandwich in the park, or head out and eat at the pool, so we can relax all afternoon and go back out at night. In the heat of the day, we like to sit and relax and nap or whatever, and not be anywhere near crowds or lines. This means that we don't get to the pool until around 1:00 everyday.

We did not have one problem finding chairs at SAB during our stay. We did see TONS of chairs covered in towels.....with no one sitting in them for HOURS. One afternoon, we asked someone sitting near a couple of towel-covered chairs if anyone was sitting there. She said that they left an hour before, so we simply removed their towels. No one ever came back. There was a gentleman going around with a cart a couple of times, collecting towels that were lying around without any other belongings. NICE!! I honestly think some people just leave their towels without realizing there is a place to drop them.

We bought pool noodles for the lazy river, and it was a blast floating around on them. Before we left, I had every intention of adding them to the existing noodle families, but time was running out, so the CL staff said they would give them to a family with kids who were checking in!

We never had a problem getting drinks. If Rocky wasn't around, there were two other waitresses taking orders. The bartenders seemed very excited about the HH rehab, saying it was going to be "amazing". Here is a picture of the rehab notice they have at the bar:

The slide was working, and the kids were loving it!!
One afternoon was particularly hot so we strolled over to check out the YC and had a drink in the Crew's Cup lounge....loved this place!

We could definitely see ourselves staying here if our beloved BC wasn't available....

All in all, we just love the whole experience of walking around the Boardwalk, the promenade near the Y&B, etc. The proximity to Epcot is so incredibly EASY!!

OK....to be continued.....

Parties of 5 may only book SV at both YC & BC. Only 4 are allowed in GV & WV/LV. If you really want one of the other views you would need to book two rooms.

There must be at least one GV room for 5 people at the YC, because that's what I'm booked into for December!
Edit: Nevermind, I just read where you added another post about the restriction being for CL. That's why we didn't get CL.:sad1: But we're just happy to be there, anyway!

I was just reading a dining report on Flying Fish and I'm so excited that it's our arrival night dinner.

We LOVE FF!!! It is DH' s favorite! He always gets the signature dish- potato wrapped red snapper. He says it's awesome. The side dish of au gratin potatoes is to die for!! We share that!! Hope you love it too.

Hi all! This thread really gets me so excited for our trip in November 2013. It really does make the days until our trip go by quicker. I did read recently the posts (not sure if it was specifically on this thread, but was a BC thread) about the bus situation. I am a little nervous about it but I will not worry about it to the point of changing resorts. But could someone please let me know the specific order of the bus pick up and drop off from MK and AK? I'm more concerned with MK as we probably will only be at AK one day. Thanks!

Keep going with all the trip reports people! THANK YOU for taking the time and doing this!

You are NOT being too wordy. Every little thing you include is bound to help some one that will read it. As for the rest of us, we will just sit on the sidelines and salivate at your every drop of detail.

I wonder if, after they rehab Hurricane Hanna's, will they put the "Sunken Treasure" drink back on the main menu and in the place of honor it deserves. They next time you see Rocky the server, tell her there's a hunger strike in the works if they aren't considering it. Tens of people will die of a broken heart if this is not so! ;)

Also, don't forget to bring your refillable mugs down to the pool with you. You can dump your poolside beverages in them to keep them frosty and then fill them up in the Marketplace with soda on the way back to your room to help hydrate you and prevent a hangover from all those drinks Rocky is bringing you. I have a feeling that poor woman is going to need retreads on her sneakers with all the running around she is going to do!

Chug, Chug, CHUG! :drinking1

I'm chiming in too to say that I am loving all the live reports. Down to 98 days until our first stay at the BC! I'm glad to know they are sprucing the place up for me. :rotfl2:

A few updates:

Although the health club is now in the Solarium, there is hardly any equipment. My husband overheard a guest flipping out to a CM that there was hardly any equipment for him to use.

We had a very enjoyable meal at YS tonight, and our server told us that the reason they are closing is to redo the floors.

Someone posted on this thread about the balcony lights. At 8:08 tonight I was sitting outside, and noticed all of the balcony lights turn on automatically, although there were quite a few with burnt out bulbs. Hopefully that answers some questions about that!

Thanks for this info. Very helpful!

Is there still seating in the Solarium or is it all taken over by equipment? Trying to think how all that meshes together.

Just got back from BC today...MK, we only shared a bus with YC, YC pick up and drop off 1st...AK, can't remember but I believe it was just BC, YC and it stops at Blizzard Beach before AK! Downtown Disney was a nightmare, we shared with BC, YC, BW and Swan and Dolphin! Bus service was really pretty good!

Is the gym closed? Are they allowing guests to use the gym at other resorts?
We're set to leave this Saturday and I'm nervous. No HH, I really don't want to see (or hear) any construction, the CL lounge is moving to the Pres suite (where is this in location to the normal lounge?), Yachstmen is closed. My DH must work out or he becomes a beast, this could be a problem.

So happy to have discovered this thread!
We have never stayed at the YC/BC before, but my sis & her family just returned from the BC and she said it was the BEST vacation they have ever had. We're going to the YC in December.

Looking forward to all the tips & reports. :goodvibes
