We stay YC as first choice. Love YC. But will happily stay BC if that is what is available. Can't speak for others.
On view, we do not care what view, but we are lucky to go often, so it has become less an issue. But, If you have never had lagoon view, do it at least once!

On the Magical Express

I'm glad to see your daughter didn't get those shoes confiscated by TSA. I'm sure there was one or two on the security force who thought they were sending a subversive message! Hope you have a great trip and stay dry.

I have finally had the chance to post a couple of pictures from Teena's trip out to Vegas to help Jeanne set up her classroom.

They have NOT sent or posted any recent pictures of Lily, but fortunately, I had a couple I don't think I have posted previously, so I added those, too.

Click on the link for Lily Goes Live in my signature.

By the way- has it been awhile since you have stopped by MY trip report? Are the horrors of travelling with 145 Middle Schoolers too scary to experience and you haven't even dared to start reading???

Don't worry, there are handy-dandy links to catch up if you are behind. Days 1 and 2 are in the hopper and Day 3 is about to begin.

;)

Catching up - love your TR reports Dee.

We just stayed GV CL at BC - I think that if you are not seeing it - it is sold out during your dates - from what I understand there are not a lot of rooms in this category. Try adjusting your dates if they're flexible.

Thanks barbliny for the info. Could you tell me how many you had in your room? When I minipulate a reservation info - garden view CL comes up with 4 but not when we have 5. We have 5 and had 5 last year. I am wondering if they switched things around a bit.

The room information that is on the site before you get into the reservation area has the following information:
Club Level with Concierge Service, Standard Room-View of a parking area or rooftop, sleeps 5
Club Level with Concierge Service - Standard Room with Standard View-Expansive views of Disney's Beach Club Resort gardens or parking lot, sleeps 4

There is no other Club Level Pricing on the room information page except the deluxe.

I remember the price being just a small bit more for the garden view and that is what the pricing reflects now but the sleeps 4 thing is what is not making sense.

I am a creature of habit and just want to go back to what we had and not have to think too much about it this trip.

Stayed Garden View CL in 2011. I no longer see that category in accomodations description area on the Disney website. Does anyone know if this room category still exists?

My understanding is that:

1) Yes, there are BC CL GV room
2) There are not many (maybe 8)
3) None, or maybe only 1 have a daybed, so the room is usually not bookable for parties of 5 (all over age 3)

We had 4 in our room.

Others can jump in here to verify, but I remember reading in a few places on these BC/YC threads that in the past year they did a lot of reclassifying views. The GV on CL now just applies to a small number of rooms and only 1 of them has a daybed. Therefore, they do not allow a family of 5 to book the GV CL - it will not show as an option. The room we had did not have a daybed, and it had no place to fit a rollaway bed.

And yes, there was a very small upcharge for GV from SV.

I think based on your party of 5, you will be relegated to one of the other views on CL.

From what I keep reading is most people on here stay at BC and not YC. Why is that? We are in YC CL SV but I am thinking of changing it to LV since with our discount it isn't that much.

Thoughts? We are going for 6 nights in October and it is in 45 DAYS!!!:cool1:

The lagoon views at YC are wonderful!! I would definitely change from SV if it isn't an issue for you!!!

Parties of 5 may only book SV at both YC & BC. Only 4 are allowed in GV & WV/LV. If you really want one of the other views you would need to book two rooms.

Yes, unfortunately families of 5 can only book SV CL or a deluxe room CL.

We were very fortunate to get two great sv cl rooms but I really wish we could book either gv or lv. Loved the deluxe cl room!

The above just applies to Club Level rooms, not the regular rooms, right???

I wasn't aware that parties of 5 could not book WV club level rooms.

Yes. Sorry, should have.added CL to that. They actually stopped the LV booking for 5 on CL several years ago.

We are officially headed home from our wonderful trip! Although, we had a few bumps the first few days, we had an amazing time. I am so glad that we decided to stay at the YC. It was wonderful being able to walk to and from EPCOT. My husband even made me walk to HS one morning since the boat line was really long and we just missed one. It was such a pretty walk and am glad that he made me do it, but was happy to take the boat back home.

Things that I loved about the YC
Quiet. This was fantastic since my boys needed to have a chance to be less stimulated. I took the boys for a walk each morning and noticed that the bc lobby was always so busy, so I was really glad to be staying at YC
- Love being so close to the boats
- easy walk over to the boardwalk
- our hallway/room area was so quiet. I didn't have to worry about my boys waking others as they had fun running down the hallways to burn off energy
- balcony ..we had a corner room overlooking the quiet pool ,so our balcony was a little bigger, but was so valuable when my boys were napping or sleeping
- provided us with 2 real cribs
- room size (king bed, no daybed) it allowed a lovely a play area for the boys
-SAB.. Although we only swam here once (bad timing and rain messed with our plans) it was so beautiful to look at during our early morning walks

Dislikes
- can only refill mugs at ale & compass until 12 noon (this really stinks after coming off of a long bus ride from AK)
- really slow lunch service at BC marketplace, but great service for breakfast. Also did not like that I was not able to find 2 high chairs for my children to sit and have breakfast. For breakfast you can't break meals up, so if you wanted just a side of eggs or a side or bacon you cant. The kids meal for breakfast was huge and plenty for my boys to share
- bus service from AK (we did not attempt DTD)

We ate at beaches & cream our very last day and they were the only restaurant we went to our whole trip that came out with 2 separate plates for my boys and already split their meal! The service there was the best we had our entire visit. They even brought each of my boys their own Mickey sundae. This allowed my DH and I to share our own sundae!

Captains Grille's buffet for breakfast was delicious. I loved the spinach & feta omelette they had. My boys ate a ton for breakfast that day! We also ate there for dinner one day, but that did not go as smoothly for us, mostly because my boys refused to cooperate. However, the pasta dish I had was yummy. I also had fun making ice cream sundaes for my boys.

Favorite Disney Moments from our trip: Mickey meet and greet at MK....it was so incredible. Mickey really took time to play with my boys and they loved every minute of it. He showed them a magic trick with a disappearing bird and they thought it was the best thing ever. I left there with tears of happiness in my eyes. First haircut was also a wonderful experience. I loved watching their faces in awe while on some of the rides (pooh, small world)

I came back on wednesday after two weeks at the Beach Club. I was supposed to be going to the Wilderness Lodge but after my holiday I will be changing it to the Beach Club again! I even prefer it over the Grand Floridian, i was in room 1532 which was right next to a laundry room and as close as you can get to Epcot.
Hi PAULASB12,
I am planning a stay at the Beach Club with my mom for the Epcot Wine & Food Festival. My mom has Parkinson's and we need a room with a short walk to Epcot where I can rent a wheelchair. I was wondering about the room you stayed in 1532, is there an exit door close to this room and how did you like this room, I'm going to try to request 1532 when booking. Thanks for any info you could provide.

Hello everyone! My DH,DS3,DS5 and myself are booked for the BC for Dec 12-16th. I know I can ask this question elsewhere but everyone here seems really nice so I thought you might help me out. One of the reasons we wanted to go in Dec was because of the Christmas feel at Disney World. However, in all of my planning, I feel like I might be missing something! We decided not to do MVMCP because it seemed like it would be too late for the boys. Next time...
We are going to EPCOT to see the storytellers and meet Santa. We also want to see the tree lighting there. We are going to DHS Thursday am and EPCOT pm, MK all day Friday and then DH wanted to spend the day at the BC all day Sat (fingers crossed to get some SAB time of weather cooperates!) are there any hints from those out there who frequent DW and BC at holiday time? Much thanks!:goodvibes

Hi!

It is slightly less than one month before my trip to YC with my brother! Currently, I have a Stardard view, Club level room booked. I also have a request in for 2 Queen beds (since it is my brother--we don't want to share a King bed!!!) and I know that is NOT guaranteed. I was wondering if anyone happens to know how many of the rooms are 2 Queen, standard view at the YC CL? Just wondering about my chances that my request will not be honored...but of course, that could depend on who else is staying there at the time and what they need/requested as well...

Also, I will probably be arriving sometime around 11 am-noon, coming in on the ME...do people arriving early like that stand a better chance of getting their requests honored, or is the chance about the same as someone arriving at a later time? How far in advance have the CMs already planned which room each party will get? Thanks!

Sounds like a wonderful trip! The best thing about Disney is watching it through your children's eyes - magic:)

Try not to miss the Osbourne Light Show at DHS. It starts at around 6 p.m. and was one of our children's favorite holiday activities.

Osbourne Light Show at DHS is a must!! Also touring the resorts to see the Holiday decorations is really nice.

Thanks for the info- a little bummed. Our room that I was referring to in my original post was #5636. It was the best and it had a full size daybed. It was down the short hall where the Newport/presidential suite was at the end-if you were standing in front of the conierge desk it would be to the right. The concierges told us then there were 8 rooms on that wing that were the GV -they either looked out at the volleyball court or the main entrance. We must have lucked at last year and maybe got the only one with the daybed! I was worried back then about having to get a rollaway as there was alot of discussion about that happening and people complaining it was so cramped - so maybe that is why you can't book as 5 now.

Thanks for everyone's responses!
