Hi I am subscribing a long time uk reader of this thread. We have just booked 14 nights at beach club free dining august 11th2012. then cruising caribbean for a week. Very excited. Had never considered yacht and beach club til I saw the beach club threads last year. We love the detail and pictures and have dipped in and out over the last year.

Sounds like a FABULOUS vacation! So glad you picked the Beach Club and thank you for the nice words about the thread!

Hi everyone! Now all rested here is my mini trippie/review of YC :)

Thank you for the great review of your trip! Love all of the detailed descriptions!

I am way behind in updating the page 1 Guest Lists! I know we have some new people and I have been keeping a list. Actually several lists... and I know where at least one of the lists is :rolleyes1

Hope to make some updates this weekend.

Everyone have a great one!

Here are the September movies per Build a Better Mousetrip

Wednesdays - Sharpei's Fabulous Adventure
Thursdays - The Fox and the Hound
Fridays - Lemonade Mouth
Saturdays - Tangled

Movies start at 9 PM, following the campfire and marshmallow roast.

I was meant to check out on Monday 29th (morning) and only added 1 night in the end but they did say they would extend it until Thursday 1st, I did have a feeling if I could prove being stuck till Saturday they might make it till then.... Here's the cash cow..... $250 a night.

I'm confused. What would the rack rate have been?

I extended my stay once, years ago, when I couldn't get home due to a blizzard. But it wasn't August, and it wasn't Yacht/Beach Club. It was February (not President's week) at what they now call Port Orleans Riverside.
They gave me a discount for the extra night.

And P.S. While I'm posting, I have to say that Teena's Princess Lily is adorable. Loved the latest photo.

Looks like I have some May 2012 buddies! Now to get Canadian free dining for those dates! LOL Made another payment today. Trying to lessen the sticker shock!!!! My dates are May 1st to 11th, BC CL.

I  this thread. Everyone is so funny, supportive and informative. And nobody thinks that I'm crazy for planning so far in advance. I had a ridiculous moment the other day - we were away at a family member's cabin, and found a beautiful swimming hole with a waterfall. I was sitting in a camp chair, sun streaming down after having a gorgeous swim in pristine waters. What was I doing? Reading Unofficial Guide! :rotfl: Live in the moment much?????

And the fact my ticker starts with a 7 is totally making me

Hi All,

I've been searching and searching, are there any pictures of the Beach Club 1bdrm suites (not the Villas) out there? Or does anyone know for sure that they still currently have the separate sitting area with a daybed and not a pull out sofa?

Thanks!

We are currently booked in YC-Garden-Club. If I understand correctly, all the club rooms are on the 5th floor?
We have a little mobility issue with walking long distances.
How hard or easy is it getting to the bus stops? Walking to Epcot?
I've read other reports of people saying how large and spread out the resort is, with long and winding hallways. Is this also true with 5th floor club rooms?

Thanks so much

ChipnDaleRule, thanks for thew welcome - so with you and Feckless there are already guests going at the same time as me to get all overexcited with!!

We are there fro the 3rd to 17th May = I can't believe I'm this thrilled with 8 months still to go :rotfl:

Just back from 7 days at beach club !! LOVED my first stay there and our room was great !! we were in 1561 with a lake view !! AMAZING our walk to Epcot was 5 min tops !! it was amazing !!

Great trip my daughter and her friends loved the pool !! WE had to leave on Friday ( we were suppose to arrive on Sunday ) Spent Friday , Saturday and Sunday at the pool !! Mon , Tue , Wed and Thurs in the parks and home the following Friday ! PERFECT vacation !

Rented a tube one day and then it poured all day ... we actually went to the front desk and told them we had it only an hour and they gave us the money back !! it was great ...

the only problem with this resort that I found is the BUS system !! Too many people sharring the bus there ... leaving Magic kingdom and Animal Kingdom were just horror shows all around ! They really should have seperate buses for Swan and Dolphin ... only share with boardwalk !

Lots more to tell but have to run for now !!

BTW we were in the Animal Kingdom parade on Monday 8/29 !! it was so much fun and a great treat for my daughter and her friends !! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Add one more. We just booked today!!! And DH booked us for a whole week!:cool1: Usually we only get 4 or 5 nights. I am stoked. Today is my birthday and it made my day. After we booked we realized that we are checking on DS's 8th birthday. So a great birthday for him as well.

We are going Feb.5th thru Feb. 12th. I need to change my ticker because I have the dates wrong on it.

Need to check through this thread for info on the birthday cakes since we will be arriving on his actual birthday. I am so excited!

I'm a little late in posting this, but I think it is a great example of the services that Disney resorts provide. My family, DH, DS and DD took a quick trip to the world August 4th -August 9th. We were supposed to check out on August 10th but our plans changed when DD, age 3, picked up a stomach virus.

We started our trip at the Poly from the 8/4-8/8 and were scheduled to be first time guests at the Yacht Club for 8/8-8/10. The kids were so excited to try a new resort, as the Poly has been our "go to" for our previous on-site stays. We were in a garden view room and our impression was really positive. The room was so bright, open, and airy compared to the Poly! We walked to Epcot and it took us about 8 minutes. We loved it!

We had a dinner ADR at California Grill the night of August 8th. On our way back to the Yacht Club before EMH at DHS, DD got sick in our vehicle. We pulled over and cleaned her up as best as we could. We initially thought it might have been something she ate, but quickly realized it was a stomach virus as she continued to get sick throughout the night and early morning hours. When we got back to the Yacht Club, DH went by the front desk and asked for plastic bags and extra towels and explained we had a sick child.

Within 5 minutes someone from housekeeping had delivered the bags and towels. After a few minutes, there was another knock at the door. A CM was there with two stuffed animals, Simba and Crush, to give to DD and DS(so he wouldn't feel left out) as Mickey had heard my DD was feeling poorly. It was such a nice thing to do and my children loved it.

DS and I did go to EMH at DHS and the boat ride over and back was fantastic. It was so easy!

We decided to check out early as DH and I did not want to risk picking up the bug from our DD and having to drive home sick.

We are headed back to WDW in December for our first ever Christmas season visit. We are doing a triple split stay between the BC/WL/YC.

We were so impressed with the service and great location of the YC!

So envious...We checked in this year May 1st- BC CL. This time last year I was doing the exact same thing as you. I kept up the research and planning all winter long. I thought I would run out of things to research, but I never did. It kept me dreaming of the warmer weather as we were getting snow. I love going in May. I am also planning our 2012 summer vacation - sadly not to Disney, that will be in 2013 before DD turns 10.

All the planning payed off -everything turned out PERFECT and as planned but I felt prepared if a curve ball came and our plan would have needed adjustment. I am a planner - I must confess!

Although I can't walk a mile in your moccasins I can say with certainty that the YC bus stop is closer to the YC lobby than the BC bus stop is to the BC lobby. I really thought the YC bus stop was nice and conveniently close.
When you think about the size and scale of the entire Epcot park, the BC/YC is ridiculously close. A normal person could walk from the YC lobby to the ticket machines at the International Gate entrance to Epcot in under 10 minutes.

I have stayed at The Wilderness Lodge and that resort definitely qualifies as the long and winding turn after turn to get to your room place. I would compare the Yacht Club favorably with POFQ in it's accessibility and intimacy. I have not stayed at club level so I can't speak to those arrangements.

Before our trips we have all this time to worry and obsess about problems that probably won't be a factor during our actual trips. Remember that if you have a problem, you can always talk to a cast member and they will do their best to help you resolve it.

Try to relax and look forward to your trip. No matter how hard you try to solve problems that you are thinking about before you go, when you get there they seem to evaporate and you are swept into a magical experience!

Stay positive and dream of a wonderful trip! :lovestruc

Hi everyone! We're back from our week long stay (8/24-8/31) at the Yacht Club and what a great time we had!
We were warmly greeted at the door (we took a limo from the airport - very fun), and we immediately loved the calm, peaceful lobby. It was so nice after our days at the busy parks to come back to peace and quiet! After a snag at check in - 1) cast member at the check in desk had a very thick accent - I didn't understand much a what she said and I'm not sure she understood my Boston accent very well either - and 2) room wasn't ready until 4pm - and when we finally got in there, we had a chair instead of a daybed (we are a family of 5, and I did ask at check in if there was a day bed) - we got to our room 2009. I admit, I wasn't very nice about it when I got back to the front desk. Sorry to the poor front desk cast member who got the brunt of my travel fatigue.
It was a corner room, with both a wall of windows and a full balcony. (Sorry, no room pics) I was amazed by how much storage space we had - way more than the Polynesian. Beautiful crescent lake view, right across from the boardwalk. We had a great view of the fireworks from our balcony, better than the bridge near the beach club! It was many long winding hallways from the lobby - but right near the bridge to the Boardwalk and the walkway to DHS. We loved it.

We had wonderful housekeeping, met lots of friendly cast members, enjoyed the Captain's Grill and Beaches and Cream. Breakfast offerings are the Ale & Compass were small in variety (Croissants, bagels, toast and muffins) but suited me just fine.
The kids and hubby loved the pool! Hurricane Hanna's was yummy - except for the bees everywhere! I'm amazed I didn't get stung. I know they were trying to fix it - I saw a team of suits in front of it talking about solutions.
Bus transportation was very quick, and the MK bus only shared with the Beach club (Animal Kingdom shared with everyone, however, that was a long ride back). The boat was hot and slow, but better than walking in August heat!
We had great meals at Via Napoli, Le Cellier, Cinderella's Royal Table and Chef Mickey's, but the overall favorite was the ESPN club! My favorite night was a fireworks cruise out of the Contemporary - pricey but worth every minute - it felt like we had a private viewing of Wishes and the EWP.
Weather was hot, hot, hot but only one afternoon was a washout at the pool- otherwise the thunderstorms passed quickly.
Next time I think we'll try the Boardwalk. Although we loved the Yacht Club more than the Polynesian (and we did love the Poly), we kept finding ourselves hanging out on the Boardwalk for one reason or another (usually the pizza window).
Thanks to everyone on this Thread! I couldn't have had such a great trip without you all!
Any questions, ask away!

Glad to hear you made it home!!! Do you know if your place lost power while you were gone?

How bad was the ride home on a scale of 1 to 10?

We didn't loose power at all :). And the drive was no where as bad as I thought. The kids were great if 10 was excellent I would an 8!

Sorry, I was so excited that I forgot to list that part! We are staying at the BC.

Hi everyone! Now all rested here is my mini trippie/review of YC :)
Glad you had a good time, except for the drive home. We drove both ways, but we took it slow with 3 days of driving/2 nights. I did laundry twice on our vacation. The second time I swore I was in Great Britain. EVERYONE at the quiet pool was from there. LOL.

I'm a little late in posting this, but I think it is a great example of the services that Disney resorts provide.

Sorry about your daughter. My daughter too got sick, but in a different way, and I had to take her to urgent care on our first full day. :guilty: But I'm glad I did because she was doubly diagnosed with an ear infection too. We had another incident with throwing up with my daughter later in the week, but our vacation was still magical.

I wonder if any of us "met" up while at the Yacht Club. I thought of that often....
