Thanks for sharing and the great reviews and pictures Mike & tontori. Especially the CL food pics.

Mike - how was getting to/from MK? As excited as we are to be able to pop into Epcot, I'm worried that to/from MK is going to be a pain. Will probably suck it up and take a cab. And how was it to AK?

So jealous of the triple ride on EE without a wait. I need to research what to do at HS more because it's a toss up between going there and AK. The draw for AK is EE, but HS we can walk so I'm torn.

You don't want to take a cab to the MK-you'll end up at the TTC with everyone else from the parking lots! Take a cab to the Contemporary and walk over or to the GF and take the monorail to the next stop. We do this a lot because the ride to MK is kind of a pain.

HS is about a mile walk, but you can take the boat. I wouldn't pick the park on walking distance alone.

Ok, I'm sure this question has been asked a billion times before so I apologize. However, I was wondering if the info on the DIS info page is correct that if you pay OOP for a BCV room (not renting points), you will get daily maid service. I want to pre-make mousekeeping envelopes so I'm not scrabbling for cash in the mornings.

TIA!

Staying BCV for the first time 8/19-28!

Yes you get daily service and they even load and run the dishwasher for you!

MK was a breeze. They picked up YC then BC and on to the park. We are accustomed to seeing the bus to our park pulling off as we walk up! It's a tradition.

AK did take us about an hour from walking in line to back to BC. May have been an anomaly but everyone in line was getting tired of waiting (the only long line). Plus as I said before, this was the day after our MK late night and I hadnt fully recovered. We stopped at BB, Swan, Dolphin, and YC before BC. Really felt sorry for those BW folks.

Yes. You are correct. Housekeeping and supplies daily with OOP!

Thanks Dee. And first let me say thanks for answering everyone's endless questions. That's to you, Teena, MM, pixarmom, Robyn, CR fan, Mike (hope I didn't forget anybody) who make this the most responsive and best thread on the board.

What time do you think we'd need to leave BC to make a 9am rope drop at AK? That day will be our short day (MNSSHP tickets that night) so I want to hit the park first thing.

Hello GoGoBeans! We always plan to be at the BC bus stop at 8am for a 9am AK rope drop. Now, I know that's earlier than is probably necessary, but if we plan on 8am, we are sure to get to the bus stop by 8:15am and then we have plenty of time. For MK, we do the same and we've not missed a rope drop yet! (Our oldest watches the clock on the bus very carefully and is not happy if we board the bus any later 8:30am!)

Have fun at MNSSHP! We've never been and would love to try it! :wizard:

In the FAQ at the beginning of this thread it says that packages should be sent USPS in order to avoid having items go through the business center. Well, I've got a problem. I just realized that my daughter neglected to mention that she's almost out of one of her medications and I won't have enough time to get it sent to me at home before we head down so I'm going to have to have it sent to the resort (it's mail order only; not sold in brick & mortar stores). The company uses UPS for their fast shipping. I might be able to call them to get them to ship Express Mail but I don't know for sure.

I guess my questions are as follows.
1. Is there any kind of delay to packages going through the Business Center?
2. Does the Business Center fee ever get waived for medical supplies? The ONLY thing that would be in the package is medication.
3. Do I use the same address in the FAQ whether the package goes USPS or UPS?
4. Is there anything else at all that I need to know about shipping a package?

Thank you!!

I think this may of gotten lost, but I don't know the answer.
I hope someone else does

Thanks for bumping up this question- I don't know the answer either, but my advice is for the OP to call the Yacht Club (407) 934-7000 and ask to speak to someone at the business/convention center. I tried to find a direct number online for the business center, but I didn't find one.

The other option, if the medication is something that would be available at a pharmacy is to have it delivered by Turner Drug. Items are delivered to the front desk and there is a small delivery fee.

Good luck!

Thank you doccoc for the bump and thank you Dee for the response.

Unfortunately this is not something that is sold in regular stores so I can't go through Turner Drug. Great idea though. I really should put their phone number into my cell in case of emergency.

I called the number you posted and asked for the business center. It was nice talking to somebody who sounds like they're actually at the location in question. The CM I spoke with was very helpful and did put my mind a bit more at ease. For anybody else who might end up in a similar situation (G-d forbid), here's what I found out.

The actual address of the convention center is 1750 Epcot Resort Blvd and is in a separate building in betwee the YC and BC though shipping to the addresses in the FAQ will work. As indicated in the FAQ, anything sent USPS will go to the resort front desk and anything sent other methods will go to the convention center. For packages under 4lb it's only a $3.00 fee and no they do not waive that even for necessary medical supplies. $3.00 is nothing when I look at what overnight shipping will cost me so I'm fine with that but I'd hate to be shipping something like dialysis fluids or oxygen or some other heavy stuff that's medically necessary. The CM did assure me that there's no processing delays with packages upon receipt. He said that they'd check to see if we've checked in yet or not when it arrives and that if we haven't then they'll leave a message in my room for me as well as at the front desk for when we check in and that if we have already checked in then they'll just leave a message in my room. He did say that either we have to go pick it up ourselves or be in the room when it is delivered because we'll have to sign for the package.

Now all I have to do is call the company when they open up this morning. The knots in my gut are starting to loosen up a little. I think they'll loosen up some more once I know the package is on its way and I have confirmation of when it'll be delivered. She has enough medication to get her through Thursday so overnighting the medication to the resort should work.

That kid had better never pull this again. If she EVER again doesn't tell me she's grabbing the last bottle she'll be grounded until she moves out on her own.

As usual, I am in complete agreement with pixarmom! We plan (try) to be at the bus stop at 8 am for a 9 am rope drop.

Lots of times though we will walk over to the YC bus stop so that we can make sure we get a seat.

Pixarmom - we did the MNSSHP one time and it was fabuous! That was a "surprise trip" for the kids. They didn't even know we were going until the morning we were leaving. They thought I lost my mind when I "pretended" to be waking them up for school - and as usual they were begging not to have to get up - and I just said - okay then let's just go to Disney! I think they may have been our very best trip! Definitely try it some time if you get the chance.

Additional update: I just called and got the order placed. The medication will arrive tomorrow so when I check in on Wednesday I just need to go get it. Phew!!! $29.41 for shipping though. At least it'll be quick. I feel so much better.

How many of you prefer BC over YC? And for those of you that prefer YC over BC, would you book BC over YC if it saved you $23/night (same room category)? It would be about $90ish savings for our 4-night stay.

I just wanted to mention that in regards to rope drop @ AK, both this summer and last summer we found that rope drop actually occurred about 10 min. before the "official" opening.... we always took the bus from the BC around 8/8:10am and got there by 8:40. Once we were through the turnstiles, the opening show would happen around 8:50 and they did the rope drop right after. Last July they held everyone on the bridge in front of the Tree of Life, but in August of last year and then this recent trip in July (we always do AK 2 mornings of each trip since we love it), they allowed guests to go right into the park instead of being held back....:goodvibes

I haven't been on this thread in a while, does Teena the greeter at the Beach Club still post here? I was hoping to visit with her during our upcoming trip in approximately 45 days.

We did a surprise trip last year & this year we will be doing it again...at the girls request. Now I'm trying to figure out how to surprise them. Last year we woke them up and they were too tired to understand what was going on. Looking for ideas. I was thinking of saying we were dropping my mom(she's driving us to the airport) off at the airport. I'd rather do it at the airport than right when I wake them up since it will be around 4 A.M.
We did MNSSHP last year for the first time & I'm sad I waited this long to do it. We will be doing it again this year. Need to get costume ideas though.

That is great! Not so great about the shipping though & you would think for meds they wouldn't charge you a handling fee at YC...I wonder if you could get it waived? I bet if you talked to a manager and explained the situation you wouldn't have to pay. I know $3 isn't much but I guess on principal they shouldn't charge you. Any other resort doesn't if they are not a convention resort. Have a Magical trip.

We are coming to the end of our 3 week holiday (boo hoo) and are checking in to the BC for the final part on Thursday. We will be driving up from St Pete's on Thurs morning and have to drop the hire car back to the Dolphin. This will be our first club level stay at the BC and I am just wondering whether if we are driving will we still be met and taken up to the 5th floor. If we do get taken up to the 5th floor to check in and our room is not ready will we then have to take our suitcases back down to be stored by bell services?

Just trying to figure out whether to drive straight to the Dolphin to return our car first and then walk around to the BC with our luggage or park at the BC and check in first before returning luggage.

Getting really excited about being back at our favourite resort even though I am a bit sad that it will be the last few days of a holiday I have been planning for the last 18 months.

When you are driving you give your name to the guard at the gate. They will check it off their list and notify CL that a guest is arriving. Someone from CL will then come down and meet you as you are unloading your luggage.

How important is a full balcony to your family? Is a guaranteed full balcony worth $90. That would be the tipping point for me. I have never stayed at the YC. The beachy theme of BC is more in tune with my family than the nautical YC, but I know I would be happy at either.

Hi! I remember your visit to the BC, and meeting with Teena, immortalized in video!

Teena does still work as a greeter at BC and still posts here. Her schedule is currently Sundays and Mondays, when she is not out visiting her daughter, and new granddaughter in Las Vegas (check out page 1 for some photos).

Check back here a couple of weeks before your trip to find out if she will definitely be around during your trip.
