Paradise to the Treasure-A Polynesian/Eastern Caribbean/Spring Adventure 2025...Updated 7/9

the view from our table...not half bad 🥰
Not bad at all!
Now y'all know that I'm a bad food reviewer and of course I didn't take notes so I don't even remember exactly what this was! I think Gnocchi?
Sure! Gnocchi it is!
The bread...
There. You see? You're not a bad food reviewer... you got that one right.

;)
The bread was good, well because, bread.
Allie had been craving a Caprese salad all week.
mmmmmm.... love a caprese salad
This one was gorgeous and she loved it.
It looks amazing.
We both had the filet which was also delicious (sensing a theme here?)...
That you were served food on round dishes?
Yes! Got it!

:rolleyes1
And dessert was, of course, the famous Chocolate Soufflé...
Not the Grand Marnier soufflé?

But! Thanks so much for that video. I had no idea that happened!
Our server brought these as an after dinner refresher too.
I think it was liquor infused sherbet? No idea, but also delicious.
Sounds good!
It was an incredible meal from the service to the atmosphere to the food and dessert.
:goodvibes
We ended up skipping trivia this night
Wait... What?
Who even are you?!?!?
Late?? Me?? Never! Seriously, you wouldn't know this about me but if I'm not 30 minutes early, to me I'm late! My coworkers laugh when I show up at 6:30-6:40am for my 7am shift.
You sound just like me.
I know! Now that I know better I would choose different (longer) excursions. Especially for the Jost Van Dyke Beach day in Tortola.
Or go on your own? Or was the beach too far to cab/walk to?

I’m joining in, Kelly, and am really enjoying your report! (And I certainly remember you!) :goodvibes

The new Poly Tower looks beautiful. I must admit that I’d probably defer to the OG Poly Villas (I LOVED them and their split bathroom on our trip last year) but would love to visit the tower. I’d also love to try Wailulu Grill - that burger looks amazing!

I’m enjoying reading about your cruise! I’m trying to convince my husband to try a Disney Cruise next year. He suffers from motion sickness and is nervous about Norovirus - needless to say, it’s a tough sell. We’d be limited to a three-day cruise (he said point-blank that he would only agree to the shortest cruise possible) but I still think it would be fun. I’m eyeing a Bahamas Cruise on the Fantasy that stops in Nassau and Castaway Cay. We’ll see what I can do!

I’m sorry you missed out on brunch at Palo but your dinner looked amazing. I’m surprised you didn’t go to any of the nightly shows (although maybe you do on other nights?) as I’ve nothing but great things about The Tale of Moana. I would love the trivia, though!

It is odd they don’t leave the quick service places open for dinner on the ship - I would think it would appeal to families with young kids if they’ve had a rough day. At least room service is still an option!

Or go on your own? Or was the beach too far to cab/walk to?
There probably is a beach somewhere near the port but I like doing the DCL excursions. They feel safer to me and I know I won't get stuck somewhere and left behind when the ship leaves!

Why, hello! And thank you!

I'll be in the OG Villas in a couple weeks for a few nights. It's been a couple years since I've been there so I'll have to see how it compares now having stayed in the tower.

I’d also love to try Wailulu Grill - that burger looks amazing!
I will definitely be getting this again!

Oof, that is a tough sell. Personally, I'm a germophobe and I don't really worry about Noro on DCL. They are always cleaning everything, they make people wash their hands walking into the dining rooms, and most of the food at Marceline's is not self-service anymore. I think with all that they have mitigated the chances of Noro to pretty low...never zero. Probably more likely to get Covid or a cold since it's airborne though!

As far as the motion sickness, I know people get prescription patches they wear behind their ears and have had good luck with those! I never get motion sick but my Allie gets car sick but never gets sick on DCL...I think it's a different type of motion?

I’m surprised you didn’t go to any of the nightly shows (although maybe you do on other nights?) as I’ve nothing but great things about The Tale of Moana.
Just wait! Haha! They didn't show Moana until the last night of the cruise for some reason. This was slightly annoying because it was our Castaway Day and the day we needed to pack up to leave. I'm getting to it soon! As far as the other shows, some of them are the same as the other ships and we've seen them so we didn't feel the need to go again!

It is odd they don’t leave the quick service places open for dinner on the ship - I would think it would appeal to families with young kids if they’ve had a rough day. At least room service is still an option!
Yes! Big drawback! They should at least stay open until 8pm or so!

Definitely safer. ::yes::

WOW, this is one of my favorite salads ever!
MMMMM!!!! I didn't they that one. Love me a good soufflé though!

WASH, RINSE, REPEAT...

Our final sea day was basically a replica of our other sea days.

Breakfast at Marceline's,

our favorite dessert,

and a fruity boat drink 🥂

It was a perfect, relaxing day after the previous two days of being in ports.
Before dinner we took some pictures in the gorgeous atrium and some from deck of the sunset.

We were heading back to Marvel for our worst meal of the trip. That's next!

ANYTHING BUT MARVELOUS

Tonight's dinner was at my least favorite of the three main dining rooms. In hindsight we should have just skipped it and I know we definitely considered that, but Allie loves Caprese Salads and there was one on the menu tonight so we decided to go.
IMG_4108.jpeg

After looking at the menu Allie decided she didn't like any of the choices and asked if she could just order off the kid's menu...
IMG_4116.jpeg

but she did get the Caprese salad that had brought us to this restaurant.
IMG_4117.jpeg

I got the wedge salad...
IMG_4118.jpeg

Allie was happy with her kid's burger. They even gave her Mickey shaped ketchup :rotfl2:
IMG_4121.jpeg

I made the mistake of ordering the Beef Wellington...
IMG_4123.jpeg
it was sooooo rare and just so gross I couldn't even really look at it. I ate the veggies and kind of left it alone on the plate but our server was really concerned for some reason that I didn't eat it so even after insisting I was fine, I don't need to send it back and that I was happy eating veggies he went and got me another one 🤮

I truly had no interest in eating it but I forced myself to take a couple bites from the edge
and then we just skipped out of there.

We headed back to the room and started packing up since the next day would be busy.

Hello little elephant friend :-)

Castaway Cay is next!

WASH, RINSE, REPEAT...

I was trying to see what Allie was reading. (No luck)
What books do you (both) like?
Our favorite lunch,

I'm seeing a trend here.
We were heading back to Marvel for our worst meal of the trip. That's next!
Ah, yes. I believe you mentioned this earlier.
Allie loves Caprese Salads
Me too! Yum!
After looking at the menu Allie decided she didn't like any of the choices and asked if she could just order off the kid's menu...
Not exactly off to a great start.
Um... did she like this? It looks kinda... drowned?
And I suspect it's the lighting, but... that does not look appetizing. Was it okay?
They even gave her Mickey shaped ketchup :rotfl2:

:(
Not okay. I'm curious if they asked how you wanted it cooked?
our server was really concerned for some reason that I didn't eat it
Well... in his/her defense... they should be.
he went and got me another one 🤮
But... if you insist it's fine, then why bring another? Rather, if you'd said "It's too rare" then either don't bring another or bring one that's more cooked.
Cute. :)

Hah! I know! That's why I just flew through this day!

I was trying to see what Allie was reading. (No luck)
What books do you (both) like?
I think she was reading The Summer I Turned Pretty. I read a lot...I can't recall what I read on the cruise but I've already read 16 books this year so far. My favorite was 11-22-63 which I HIGHLY recommend! Stephen King is an amazing writer and one of my all-time favorite books ever is The Stand, but this one will be up there. My other favorite so far this year was Roots by Alex Haley. I remember my mom watching the miniseries way back in the day when I was little. I have since read that there was some controversy surrounding the authenticity of his account but the book was riveting and powerful and so, so sad. And lest you think I only read these huge serious novels, I also read fluff and am currently reading The Comeback Summer which is cute but I'm sure will be forgettable the moment I finish.

Um... did she like this? It looks kinda... drowned?
Well she had just had the amazing caprese at PALO the night before so she couldn't help but compare the two. There was a clear winner and this wasn't it!

And I suspect it's the lighting, but... that does not look appetizing. Was it okay?
Eh...it was okay. Yes, that's a good way to describe it.

Not okay. I'm curious if they asked how you wanted it cooked?
No because if they had I would have said medium well with a light pink center. Maybe this is how Beef Wellington is supposed to be?

I'm really enjoying your report! We had our first DCL cruise in January, and we have booked another for this coming January ☺️. The Treasure looks amazing!

I think she was reading The Summer I Turned Pretty.
I've heard of it, but don't know it.
I've already read 16 books this year so far.
Impressive! I used to do that (maybe even more?) but my reading has declined enormously. I doubt now I read more than 4 books a year. :sad2:

I never got into The Stand (should give it another go), but 11-22-63 is one of my favourites! I've read it at least three times. :)
My other favorite so far this year was Roots by Alex Haley.
I've read it... but a long, long, long time ago.
I remember my mom watching the miniseries way back in the day when I was little.
I don't recall if I watched all of it (probably not), but I do remember watching.
I have since read that there was some controversy surrounding the authenticity of his account
I heard that too.
I didn't care. If it was fact or fiction or somewhere in between, it was still very powerful for its time.
And lest you think I only read these huge serious novels, I also read fluff and am currently reading The Comeback Summer which is cute but I'm sure will be forgettable the moment I finish.
Okay. Fluff is okay. :)

It is not supposed to be raw!

That Wellie looks absolutely disgusting. Gross. I'll make a note of that restaurant in case I'm ever on that ship. But... sea days, sigh.... LOVE me a good, relaxing sea day.

I just binged this whole TR! I don't know where my quotes have all gone...this keeps happening to me, darn DIS!!! Love the mom-daughter time. My mom and I just sailed on the Wish in May, and it was so wonderful to have that time just the two of us. (PS We agreed on your opinion of Marvel. We didn't love the look of the menu and neither of us are Marvel fans, so last minute, we decided to skip it altogether and eat at the Cantina on deck instead. I see based on your experience, we made the best decision ever!)

I never got into The Stand (should give it another go), but 11-22-63 is one of my favourites! I've read it at least three times. :)
Stop! You've read it three times? That's awesome! I don't know if I said this but Mike and I are driving down to WDW in October and he expressed an interest in it so we will listen to it on the way down. Oddly, that audio book would take a round trip WDW to complete since it's 30 hours long!

You should definitely try The Stand again...it's been many years but I remember loving it at the time!

Maybe that's what it's supposed to look like? I wouldn't normally order it but there was nothing else on that menu that appealed to me!
