I take that "crazy cancer drug;" it's been almost three years, and despite the hot flashes, I feel GRATEFUL that there is a "crazy drug" that is helping to prevent my cancer from returning elsewhere in my body....

On that note, let me say congrats to Teena--grade 0 is fab.

Carry on...

Teena--Thank you for updating us. I'm sorry it's not 100% great news. I conitnue to pray to your doctors' wisdom and your strength through it all.

I can't wait to finally meet you in June. You are one special lady!

I didn't mean any disrespect to that drug. I personally was more scared about that drug than the surgery or anything else. Going through menopause, I actually passed out once while driving. I felt the hot flash coming on strong and pulled over and don't remember a thing for about 15 minutes. I also went down a few times on the streets in Harrisburg - very scary time in my life. Plus I have a thyroid that doesn't work and gained so much weight with that, so the side effect some people have of weight gain too scared me. The thyroid weight problem is hard enough. Then my father died of a stroke and that's a side effect and my mother had uterus cancer (another side effect). So, I was hoping they could use one of those other drugs that have come out recently ... their side effects were better suited for me with my history. Honestly, I was so scared I'd kill somebody while driving to work with the hot flashes ... those months while trying different drugs on me to help with the hot flashes while going through menopause were the scariest time I can remember. So learning I didn't need to take it was a huge weight off my shoulders. I'm certainly glad they have that drug and the newer ones too. A friend of mine in Pennsylvania was on it for five years and had no side effects at all. Of course, during menopause she never had hot flashes either. I could just picture me going down right in the middle of the lobby at the BC while pin trading with some kids.

My surgeon did say I would have lots of monitoring in lieu of the drug too. I guess there will be frequent visits to the Mayo for mammos.

Congrats on making it three years! Hearing success stories sure help!!!

Yikes! Passing out is not good! I completely understand what you are saying. I am only defending the drug (sounds silly to defend a pharmaceutical, no. LOL?) because I know it does a lot of good. Menopause is tough, that's for sure. As a young woman it was devastating to go through it so early. I was 40 when diagnosed with BC and after my surgery I started taking the drug. I made a conscious decision to take it at night as I had heard about the sweats and hot flashes. I figured I would suffer through it in bed and not during the day when I needed to be places and take care of DS. Believe me, I was not a happy camper! However, the sweats diminshed after the first year and now it is a rarity that I have to pull off the covers and shed my jammies, LOL!

I also have a thyroid condition and take my Armour thyroid every morning. I understand your concerns about weight gain. Amazingly, I have managed to lose over 60 pounds in the last 2 years (thank you WW), even with the meds! Yes, every person is different and has different reactions to drugs, etc.

I am VERY happy that you are not at an advanced stage and wish you didn't have to go through any more surgery. Not taking the crazy drug is definitely good too. You know, I may just refer to it as "my crazy cancer drug" from now on. LOL!

Thanks for the congratulations, April 30th is always a big day around here. Looking forward to meeting you at YC in August when this will be behind you...

Is one of the side effects PMS, besides the hot flashes? I also was not allowed to take it because of all my other health considerations.

We are headed to BC in less than 3 weeks! We are celebrrating our dd 5th birthday while we are there. I was hoping to surprise or do something special for her in the room. I wanted to call the BC to see what our options are for something like balloons, chocolate strawberries, etc.

Would it be o.k. to call the main number? I am not looking to use Disney Florist just look for what I can order through the BC.

Teena, please know that you are in our prayers. You are such an asset and a great person and I have not even met you! I am happy to hear you did receive some good news today. Thank you for your help!

PMS? No. There is no M for most of us on this drug....

General crabbiness? Yes. Plenty of it. ;o)

TeenaS - Thanks for the update on your journey to being cancer free! Glad to hear that things are "fixable." I am praying for you.

Thanks for the Pizza update too! Thanks for always keeping us up to date despite all that you're going through personally like now. That cancer better watch out. Doesn't know who its dealing with!!!

You should ask to speak to one of the managers at the Marketplace in the BC. You can ask them to make up a gift basket or gift bucket for you with stuff from the Marketplace ... little gifts, stuffed characters, Disney pins, autograph book & pen, anything in the store. Or you could wait and have them help you with it when you get there ... you could pick out what you want in it. They are great at making stuff up like this and then you can have them deliver it to the room later.

Or you can call private dining at the BC and order strawberries, a special cake, etc. Ask them to include balloons.

Also, you can ask the front desk to arrange to have some birthday balloons sent to the room.

Hi Teena- just getting in from rehearsal-soft opening of our show.

I am sorry to hear that you will be having another surgery, but it sounds like the rest of the news is positive. I am so glad the doctors confirmed that the cancer is non-invasive and can be brought under control. I'm sure you have been anxious about the possibility of being on the drug and the side effects that you may have experienced. I'm glad you don't have to worry about that any longer!

Love ya! Get a good nights sleep (you better be in bed already)!!!

Check out the post on the front page of this forum about the Beach Club Marketplace. There is a link to photos that pixarmom took in February of a lot of the goodies available for purchase in the shop. This may help you decide what you want to get for surprise gifts.

Nothing is confirmed yet however it's a 99% chance that this coming August my family and I will be staying a few nights at Beach Club in one of their Club Level rooms after our stay at the Boardwalk Inn. Anyway I was wondering from the Beach Club how do get to Stormalong Bay? I know that it's close to where Beaches & Cream is, however when going there I don't recall seeing any signs that say where the entrance for Stormalong Bay.

Also I know that anyone staying at the Yacht Club and Beach Club needs wristbands when you are at Stormalong Bay, so can I assume those are given to us at check-in and are we given one set for our whole stay or different ones for each day of the week?

Yeah! Glad to hear you will probably have a visit to the Beach Club! You will be able to find the pool. We go out the back door of the lobby, head in the direction away from EPCOT and you will find a path that takes you to one of the blocked entrances. When you show your room key at the entry point to the pool, you will be given a wrist band.

Different colors every day folks?

Is there an entrance to SAB accessible from the area near Beaches and Cream, too?

Teena:
You are in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. My best friend/co worker Janet just went through this with two surgeries. She was also grade 0. She is now doing great and is cancer free. She also does mammos every 6 months. I think it was even harder on her husband. Her positive attitude is amazing. I am looking forward to meeting you at the BC in May.

Thank you for that information.

About 20 minutes ago we made our Lagoon View - Club Level reservation and are very much looking forward to our 1st stay at the Beach Club. We are going to be there from August 31st - September 4th.

I forgot to add we also got 35% room only discount for the Deluxe Resorts which is the exact same deal we are getting at the Boardwalk Inn.
