Heading to the BC August 8th - 22nd. My wife and I have been before separately but the kids 15,9,6 have never been. We will be 5 in a room so will be a bit cramped but we are all looking forward to it immensely. We are flying from the UK to Dallas for a week before, then the 2 weeks at the BC, and finally a week in Miami. None of us have ever had a months holiday before - will be hard to head back to work!

We have lots of ADRs arranged and the kids are reading up on the whole place already.

I've been lurking for awhile, but since we just booked our trip, I decided to join!
My fiance and I will be coming down June 4-8th at staying at the YC. We are so excited!! We were just there in October, but just for a quick overnight since we were looking at having our wedding in Disney. Things didn't work out for the wedding, so we wanted to make sure we were still able to come enjoy Disney as we had originally planned. This will be our 5th time together going to Disney and we are really looking for the most relaxing stay (where else would be go to relax, right?).
Right now we are booked in a garden view room, but I wanted to ask what everyone thought about upgrading to club level? This is a special trip for us, so we have been debating whether to upgrade. My only concern is that the standard club level is a view of parking lot or rooftops, so we would be giving up our view, which I know is only garden view, but we have had some pretty views from a garden view room in the past. Any opinions?

We LOVE CL at YC. Stayed there last year and back again this year. I know what you mean about the view and yes standard is a roof top...If you ever looked at a bc/yc room map you will see that there are few garden view rooms on CL. I think there are 9....It is a just a weird shaped 5th floor that isn't near as big as the other floors hence less rooms. That being said, we love CL. Dedicated floor requiring card access...nice food. You will so appreciate it in the summer months. I won't go to WDW in the summer unless it is club level. You can hope/pray for some pixie dust upgrade you never know with it being a honeymoon...and people cancel change plans all the time...so keep checking back to see if a room opens facing garden. What about lagoon view? Is that open?

Hi Niki- choosing between club level vs. garden view is a very personal decision which depends on what is most important to YOU! For me, hands down, it is food over view! I don't care what I'm looking at, but I really really like the convenience and variety of breakfast in the club lounge. If you haven't looked at the pictures of the food offerings in the link on the first page, please check it out. We had a standard view CL room in July and we really liked it. Even though we overlooked the parking lot and rooftops, at night we had a glimpse of Illuminations and a spectacular view of the Magic Kingdon fireworks, so I enjoyed watching that accompanied by decadent desserts from the lounge.

Your mileage may vary- not all standard rooms offer the view perk, but even without that, for me, food still wins.

From what I have read about the Beach Club some of their rooms have balconies, while others have smaller ones and I think others don't have any of them. So I was wondering where do their Lagoon View - Club Level rooms fit into that category?

You are so sweet ... just address it to "Teena the Greeter" at the BC address and send it ONLY by U.S. Mail and it will get to me. Thanks and I'm really bummed I won't get to meet that family of yours. But hopefully I'll see you in December!

Thanks so much! Will get myself to the post office this weekend!!

Jay

I adore that line, food over view! My husband and I had that exact conversation when we booked our stay at the YC for this coming September. We both agreed that being able to grab a quick bite for breakfast and take it back to our rooms or on the way to the rope drop made it worth the extra bucks.

I'm just hoping our Lagoon View room will also be able to view the Epcot light show....

If you are not doing the dining plan then club level might be worth it for the free breakfast, snacks AND LIQUOR!! If you are doing just a table service and a counter service meal then the club level might be worth it for the free breakfast. Keep in mind that if you are an eggs and meat type of breakfast person then the continental breakfast provided by club level might not fit the bill.

Now onto the room. Oh to be young and in love again WITHOUT CHILDREN!! How much time do you plan on spending in the room? Let's say you were coming back to the hotel mid day for a break from the heat. You are either going to be napping (or "napping" for the honeymooners) or at the pool. The hotels also have rooms off the beaten path where you can chill with a book, like the solarium in Beach Club and what ever there is at the Yacht Club.

So it comes down to how important the view is versus the food benefits on club level.
Only you know what your preferences are and what dining options you have chosen so far, so you will have to decide.

This is basically the thought process that I went through when considering club level. We opted to go full monty on the dining plan with 3 table service meals so that we could experience as many restaurants as we liked for table service meals. One of the misconceptions about this plan is that you HAVE to eat an Appetizer, Entree AND dessert at each meal. Personally I would order each, but more to try each one than to completely devour each one.

The benefit of having a relatively quiet place to sit, mid day when we are wiped out from the heat was worth it's weight in gold (and around my waist!). This was the determining factor in how we chose our dining plan versus club level consideration.

Of course you can trek back to the hotel and eat in the club level lounge, but I have a 12 year old boy who can amaze me with his NEED for FOOD, MASS quantities of FOOD! at any given moment.

When he was almost 5 we took him to Disney World for the first time. It was in September and it was HOT so we did the "back at the hotel for a nap and then out again at night" plan. The only trouble was that this boy of mine DID NOT NAP! I knew he HAD to NAP (and so did I) so here's what I did.
I closed all the drapes, turned off every light and the TV, and for 45 minutes I listened to "I'm not tired, I don't want to go to sleep". 45 minutes of this mind you. I played dead so I could keep an eye on him. My husband wasn't playing, he was really dead (tired) and was passed out cold! Then finally it happened! The boy had fallen asleep!

About an hour and a half later it was time to get him up. It was like SATAN had inhabited the body of my dear little boy. He was beyond crabby and he did not want to get up. We quickly figured out to lob cupcakes and donuts at him, like grenades, because his blood sugar was low and that's what was making him crabby. We couldn't get too close and hand him a donut because my husband almost lost a finger when he got to close to his mouth! ;)

OK so now this dear sweet boy is 12 and growing like a weed. I was eating a Philly cheese steak one day and this thing is about 15 inches long. I had only gotten through a quarter of mine when DS said to me "Mom, just so you know, I'm STILL HUNGRY!!!!!" I turned around and he had finished his and he was eyeing mine! I lobbed the other half at him like a grenade and I ran out of the room so that I could keep my other half.

So you see the dining plan was our primary consideration versus club level.
When they get cranky lob food at them. You can diet when you're DEAD!

I hope this helps,
Marlton Mom

I know that when it comes to the buses usually the Boardwalk shares with the Swan & Dolphin, where as the Yacht Club & Beach Club share together and usually all five resorts share the bus for Downtown Disney. Now this is not a big issue but I was wondering between the Yacht Club & Beach Club which resort gets picked up 1st and is dropped off 1st when returning from the Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom? As for Downtown Disney we always drive there since we have a car and is the one location we hate using the Disney buses for getting to.

:lmao:
AMEN! You may have just convinced me to upgrade our dining plan...
:woohoo:

I've read before that Epcot is a nice stroll from the BC -- which was one of the reasons we decided to go for a split-stay in the first place. :goodvibes Being able to actually WALK to a park is such a bonus, I'm thrilled.

So, is HS a walk-able distance as well or should one just stick to taking the boat? (We'd probably be pushing a potentially empty stroller with a 4 year old tagging along.)

Well from the Beach Club to Hollywood Studios via the walkway you will either need to go past the Boardwalk or the Yacht Club, so I think in terms of distance the Beach Club is the farthest resort when it comes to walking there. If you take the boat after it leaves the Yacht Club/Beach Club dock it will then stop at the Swan/Dolphin before it arrives at Hollywood Studios.

Cheers. Sounds like it might be a tad too far for the kiddo then. Don't want to wear her out before we even get to the park! We might try it on the way back though, when she's too pooped to walk.

Hello! We just got back from the BC CL, and for buses, we were always second, after the Yacht Club, being dropped off on the way back from the parks. Hope this helps!

On the days when we don't visit the parks right away we usually like to be out by the pool around 11:00 AM, which would be after we finish breakfast or maybe a bit earlier. So I was wondering how fast does Stormalong Bay get busy in terms of getting pool chairs?

Thanks everyone for the replies! We are on the dining plan, so that is something to consider. We have a decision to make ... although these are great decisions to have to make!
