Hi everyone!

Just popping in to say hello, and that I know I've missed an awful lot here lately, but I'm reading thru all the posts and trying to catch up. So many wonderful stories, so many great people, thoughts and prayers with Missy of course.....

We had a wonderful 12 days in WDW, although it was VERY hot :cool2: We were there during that whole heat wave, "real feel" temp in the 101 to 113 range!! Then overnight it dropped more than 30 degrees and we woke up to a chilly 59.... crazy stuff!

Anyhow, back home now and trying to get back to life after the dream holiday.... makes me wonder if anyone has any good tips for the post-trip blues :sad1: I know for me the best distraction is this group, and of course the ever-hopeful excitement of making it to Round 3. Best of luck to all... only a few more days to go :rolleyes1

Missy, Keeping you in my prayers!

Ang the best cure for post trip blues that I know is to start to plan another trip right away!:goodvibes

Um....I had to share this tweet I saw a few minutes ago (which was shared by several people):

@JoAnneWallace: Today is the day! Narrowing down the applicants from the Disney Moms Panel - so many great applicants.

(JoAnne is, according to her Twitter profile, the Social Media Manager, Public Relations Walt Disney Co. (Parks and Resorts) )

So....I guess this means they start reading our essays today. :goodvibes

I feel a bit woozy right now. OMGosh...they are reading our essays!!!! :yay:

OK...so here's a little pixiedust: for everyone!

Yes! I was so grateful Dough RT'd that because Jo Anne had slipped through the cracks of the "Disney people" I follow! LOL! (I'm sure she's going to have about 100 people add her today!)

Here I was trying not to think about anything and be all calm and distracted...:rotfl:

Luck and Pixie Dust to all! I hope everyone on this thread makes it through to Round 3!!! pixiedust:

MISSY...you are in my thoughts and prayers today.

Also thinking of Missy today - sending you lots of healthy vibes for the best possible outcome!

...

I've missed the last few questions of the day I think, so I'll try to catch up but be brief.

Like many have mentioned, I too collect antenna toppers and change them with the seasons. I have the "Disney Family" sticker people on the back of my car as well (and my Mickey Moms Club magnet too!) My CD player is 4/6 Disney park CD's. Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I press play to hear "Your attention please, the Walt Disney Railroad is now approaching for a scenic trip aroooound the Magic Kingdom.....Boooooooooard!!" (at least I think that's it, I just typed that from memory so forgive any incorrect words!)

Of course living an hour away it's a lot easier to 'get my fix' by driving up to the Parks, however even when I'm not up in Orlando, living in Florida still makes me think of Disney almost daily.

If you walk outside in the early morning, there is a very distinctive "Florida smell". I'm not sure what it is...a combination of morning dew, the trees in blowing in the breeze...I've never figured it out. But that morning smell brings me way back to my family's visits in the 80's when we were staying at the Lake Buena Vista Vacation Club Villas. We'd be up SO early back then, taking our little golf cart to breakfast or leaving in time to open up the parks. It's a similar smell to the dinosaur section of Universe of Energy, which is why we always called it "Disney smell' if we ever smelled it somewhere outside of Disney. Of course we also have orange blossoms a couple of times a year and that reminds me of Horizons and Soarin'. I can't smell someone making smoked bbq without thinking of "Rome burning"!!

I can't wait in a long line without thinking "Oh, Disney would've handled this so much better!" Disney has spoiled me for all special events and hotels - I compare everything to how they do it, and everyone else falls short!

And of course I live Disney every day with ALL the memories I have in my mind and pictures of the many days we spent there. Writing my blog has helped me share some of those with others and always keeps Disney at the forefront of my mind. And when I'm not 'remembering' I'm planning our next visit to cultivate even more memories! :goodvibes

My stomach just got that first drop of the roller coaster ride feeling - excited, scared and slightly nauseous. Here we go!!!!

:hug::hug:pixiedust:pixiedust: For all!

pixiedust: And an extra dose for Missy today. :)

I am so out of the loop with Twitter and blogging. Been looking for Disney Jo's blog and haven't had any luck. I feel like I know no one....LOL. Ok, so I don't...LOL

Good luck everyone! This is it! I will be away from my computer all Monday afternoon, and evening and not on til Tuesday afternoon. My middle daughter has to have a sleep study and we will be in the hospital overnight. So, when we get back I will know what happened. I think we have all been lucky t get this far and I am proud and thrilled to have been included with you all :) No, matter what it has been a blast!

Missy you back yet?

Now I feel nervous for all my friends that are in Round II! Good luck to all! Lots of Pixie Dust coming your way!

Missy - You've obviously got a lot of people thinking and praying for you today! Let us know when you get back.

Question for Waiting Day 5 aka "They are reading your essays" Day:

What is your first memory of Disney? Go back as far as you possibly can on this.

My first memory comes from my first visit to Disneyland in CA. I was with my parents, my brother, and my grandparents. I will never forget the flowers. They were everywhere and the Street of Flowers was incredible! What a fabulous smell and sight. It is certainly ingrained in my memory.

This same trip, in the summer of 1962, also brings back an image of seeing the Osmond Brothers Quartet perform in Disneyland and as we left that show, I was able to see and say hello to Mr. Walt Disney himself.:goodvibes
Here is a clip from the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rp-JAZQJWcc

My first memory of Disney World came years later .,,,... ummmm...obviously!:rotfl:
This memory was checking into the Contemporary Resort in March of 1972. What a magnificent structure. My parents had friends whose daughter was the head buyer for the merchandise at Disney. She got us the room on the top floor of the resort. What a spectacular view from that lovely super modern looking room. This DD of my parents friends promised us a tour of the underground structures but we were so busy seeing the Magic Kingdom and that we decided to delay the tour she offered for another visit. Sad to say but she and her fiancée were killed in a small plane crash before we ever got that tour. It was such a tragedy. I will never forget her for making our fist visit to Disney World so very sweet.:goodvibes
