2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

We've finally settled on April 2009.
We haven't ironed out all the details. We're still waffling on our resort. I can't choose between connecting rooms at either the CBR or CSR, or a family suite at ASMu. Also, DH has agreed to 7 nights, I'm trying to talk him into 10. (We're driving, and I think we're just getting a little too old for road trips. I don't mind driving straight through, but I'd like a couple of extra days to relax :) )
Also, we just realized that the kids spring break in 2009 falls on our anniversary! :lovestruc So maybe we can plan something extra special!

ETA - DH thinks I'm crazy planning this early! :lmao: I just noticed that this thread started last May?!?! :lmao: I think I found my place!

I wish I didn't know how much I weigh.:rotfl:

Well, that's the problem. Sometimes I think I am doing fine, then I step on a scale for the first time in a year and I'm shocked! So I think it's better to stay on top of it! :guilty:

Hi everyone! If you e-mailed me, and have not heard from me, please e-mail me again or PM me. Thanks! Shannon

This should be current and somewhat accurate. If I'm wrong about your name/dates/resort or if you want to change something or if you just want to say hi, either post or PM me!

ETA - DH thinks I'm crazy planning this early! :lmao: I just noticed that this thread started last May?!?! :lmao: I think I found my place!

That's why most of us are here! Although DS and I talk Disney everyday, we have a running joke to talk about it in code around DH who is a non-believer. Poor guy. :sad2:

This is so much fun planning with all you guys. I love seeing the list of everyone who is going. It really makes it feel real. I am getting so anxious for this summer waiting on them to release the packages. As soon as they do I will be contacting my TA and making that reservation.

Me too!! I'll be off to AAA! Hoping it is in early August so I can do it before we leave for Myrtle Beach August 15th. I want to have my Disney trip booked to alleviate any post-trip letdown!!!

I also can't wait to hear more 2009 info! theme, any event info, park hours, etc!

Did anyone watch the Disney shows on the Travel Channel yesterday afternoon? The kids were loving it and reminiscing (sp?) about our trip in December. When DH came home it was still on and the kids were telling him about all the things they want to do "next time we go". He looked at me and rolled his eyes. Sorry DH, it's inevitable, we will be going back! :rotfl:

What is the best way to book? I've seen some saying AAA, a few call WDW direct, and some Travel Agent bookings. Is one way cheaper than the other? Do you get perks going a certain way :confused3 ???

I use a TA just because it is easier for me. They watch for all the discounts and apply them when they come out so it saves me from having to call and change my reservation. I actually would love to call and do it all myself but this just makes it stress free for me. If you use a TA though just make sure they are an authorized Disney agent.

I need to have your DH call my DH! Lucky, LUCKY you!

I am debating the need for hoppers. We've had them the past 2 trips, and did use them ... but very little. I am looking for ways to cut expenses, so this may be the place. We are going in January -- which means closing times are earlier, so I don't know that we would take the time to hop over to another park anyway. That travel time between parks is precious! I know that in the past, if you bought the MYW pkg in Jan/Feb, hoppers were free -- but I may book room only and not do a package. We don't want the DDP this time. SO many decisions!

We're having a Super Bowl party here tomorrow, so I'd better get some work done around the house and figure out the rest of the food, etc.
Have a great weekend!

I was under the impression you could add the park hopper option there if you decided you wanted it. You might want to look into it that way you wouldn't have to decide until you get there, experience the crowds, and see if you really want to hop.

I think you can add Park Hopper at any time.

I use AAA b/c the only way to book a Package with AAA discount (on the room portion) is through AAA. You can book room-only with AAA discount directly through Disney (or any TA, I'd assume), but not a package.

Daisy 77, you changed your photos--they're precious!!!!!!!!!!!

Dang. I hate being at the top of a new page. I feel so pretentious. I know. I'm weird.

Thanks!!:goodvibes
I don't like being last on the page...sometimes no one sees it.

I'll join the weight loss too. You can put me down for 20lbs. Luckily lent starts tomorrow for me and I have decided to give up snacks. Hopefully that will get me motivated, once I'm over the hump of wanting the snacks, I'm fine.

You can do it!!!!:cheer2:

Looks like I'm jumping on the bandwagon a bit late. lol Our plans aren't definite though. One of the hazards of being a single mom with a teenager that turns 18 late this year. lol

We go to Disneyland pretty much every year. We are all set to go again in just over a month. I'm sooo excited! She's never been to WDW though and I've only been once, in 1984. I'd love to take her just after graduation (5/09). Her dad and step mom were supposed to go but they are expecting a baby in May so he'll only be about a year old by the time we go.

Still have no idea how long we'd go for, but I think we'd stay at a value resort. I was kind of waiting to see what deals they offer for our time frame before I got really busy planning. lol I've had enough planning to do with our upcoming DLR trip. lol

Welcome to this corner of the dis! I think that it is great that you want to take your DD to WDW! What a great way to celebrate her graduation.

Gotcha on the list! :thumbsup2 That means you officially have to go. No changing plans, no backing out, no going to Universal Studios. :wizard:

Eh, that is why I don't talk about Disney with my DH. I just tell my 3 year old our plans.:rotfl:

Well, that's the problem. Sometimes I think I am doing fine, then I step on a scale for the first time in a year and I'm shocked! So I think it's better to stay on top of it! :guilty:

I gained almost 60 pounds with DD....joined WW, lost 50, stopped going...gained it all back...plus some.:scared1: Those WW weigh-ins DO keep me in check. I hate it...but it really helps to be accountable.

I am thinking of joining AAA. I have only heard good things about it. There is a big center here that I may have to go check out.

We have em DVRd and DD and I love watching them! :thumbsup2

Good question....I usually book online directly through Disney and then I scour the Dis until I find a code. I then call Disney to add the code to my ressie. There are not always codes available to the public but I have always been lucky.

I use a TA just because it is easier for me. They watch for all the discounts and apply them when they come out so it saves me from having to call and change my reservation. I actually would love to call and do it all myself but this just makes it stress free for me. If you use a TA though just make sure they are an authorized Disney agent.

I enjoy booking myself. But when it comes time to book dining ressie...my palms start to sweat!:scared:

My MIL called me last night and she told me she wanted to do something fun for my BIL's high school graduation in 09. I told her we were going to Florida for my graduation and I think she wants to come with us. I am totally cool with that but I know I will have to do all the planning. She is beating around the bush...just come out and ask! I even asked if she wants to come. :rotfl: Ah, family.:rolleyes1

She is easily confused so I am trying to think of how to explain things like ADR's, ME, EMH...so on and so forth. I have never planned a trip for more than me, DH and DD so I am feeling overwhelmed.. Another thing is, that if they come our trip will be pushed back to June.

Man, I sound like a jerk.:sad2:

I used a TA this past trip and I was very happy with her. I like to do everything myself but I figured why not let someone else do some phone calls for me and get paid for it. She watched for discounts for me and I watched at the same time. Every time I emailed or called her she was already on it! Definitely choose a Disney specialist TA if you decide to go that route. I don't like using AAA TA's because I haven't found one yet that knows as much about Disney as I do! :rotfl: And they usually will not watch for discounts for you.

Psst...my secret ambition is to be a Disney Specialist TA! Not quite sure how I'm gonna do it - but someday...:rolleyes1
For now I just plan my friends' trips for free!

I agree - I definitely know more about Disney than my AAA "TA"! I basically went in and said I want this, this and this. I did all the planning myself, which is how I like to do it, she basically just booked it for us.

I want to be a Disney Specialist TA....Hmmm, I need to go do some research on how to hook myself up!:surfweb:

count me in! I have been dreaming about WDW since last Easter when I took two DDs to Disneyland in Paris. Finally, I am starting to believe that we will actually be able to come in 2009!:yay: We are looking at August 'cause I already booked a three night on the Wonder:woohoo: (I don't think DH realizes that I actually put a deposit, but the girls know:rolleyes1 So, count us in for those plus I need to lose about 8 kilos. :hippie: I've been lurking for a while, but am now ready to let myself believe it! Here's to us and here's to a happy year of planning (and saving!) :dance3:
