2008 DDP discussion, questions, rants and vents

I also got the 5x reward, however ours is slightly different. I am not sure as to why. We don't need to spend $450 first. Our bonus is....For every eligible dollare spent above $100 each month in any of these combined categories (Gas, Dining, Drug Stores, and Groceries), you'll earn 5x Disney Dream Reward Dollars. This applies for the months of January, February and March and goes back to the beginning of the month. Just thought I would add this to the discussion.

I think it may have to do with how often you regularly use the card. I don't use it very often unless there is a special running. I had rather get the 2x on my Amex for airline miles. The more faithful customers would get a better deal than I would.

Can somebody please verify for me the basic plan for 2008 is 37.99 adult & 9.99 age 3-9?
Also, I am assuming Victoria & Alberts is not any part of the dining plan, regardless of # of credits charged?!

Victoria and Alberts is not part of the Dining Plan. If you are thinking about going there ~~ Do it !!! It's amazing.

thanks for that! For the chefs table, if you are a party of 4 do they pair you w/ another party to make 10? Just curious for anyones experience. Also is the wine pairing worth it if anyone knows? Thanks again!

I book thru AAA and get DDP so I asume I'm getting AAA room discount. I have asked others who book thru Disney and they have said there is no real difference in price.

To book a package with AAA discount (the discount is on the room portion only) - you have to book through AAA. You can book room-only through Disney and get an AAA discount, but the packages have to be booked through AAA.

We also book through AAA. We have compared prices through Disney and AAA with room/tickets/DDP and the AAA rate always saves us about 10% over booking through Disney. Our agent tells us the tickets can't be discounted, but rooms are........that is what we have been told by AAA agents.

If it's a package, then yes ! Apparently AAA's across the US are different. We always use AAA and save at least 17-18%.

WOW!!!! Give me your AAA agent's contact info. We have used different offices over three states when getting quotes and the best we ever got was about 14% (averages 10% or so)......guess you have a little more influence than me!

Nope - it's all yours. You could dine alone at the V&A Chef's Table if you chose; but it's one party per night.

Thanks everyone for all the info on V&A and the AAA discount. Chefs table sounds great! DH booked through Disney & got the AAA room discount, I'm sure he'll want to leave it at that as he's not too keen to deal w/ the DDP though it seems it will save another $120 on food expenses....

I checked Disney prices for a ten-day package, with PH and WP and the DDP, then got a quote on the same package from AAA and the AAA price was about $300. cheaper. Both packages were identical.

Glad to hear that. I did get a code for an upgrade on my tickets . My TA is amazed at all the info I get. Thanks Dissers.

I usually book as a FL resident or FL passholder(which ever is available), but I was spending A LOT on food. I was debating whether or not to do a dpp. This thread helped me decide that altough a dpp would be very conveinient, I still would be spending less money w/a room only ressie. Thanks for everyone's help! I LOVE THIS DICUSSION BOARD!!!!!!!

The only part that bothers me is the gratuity, since Disney now adds 18% gratuity to the bill. You don't get to pick your own amount. I have no problem with that if the service is good, but do if it isn't. Most likely I will get the card that gives you 20% off. I think you have to be a Florida resident or annual passholder to get it. So lol I will save 2%.
