2008 DDP discussion, questions, rants and vents

Now you are mconfusing me:confused3 I have ddp and when I present my card the cost of my entree, drink( non alcoholic) and dessert will be covered on the ddp right!! Then I choose how much tip I leave. As I am solo I think that's how it works ! A party of 6 + gets 18%added/ included on the bill of course they could add more if they wanted . Now does that sound right or am I stll confused:confused3 :rotfl2:

I think what you were confused about was the phrase "the tip is automatically added, but not included", am I right? What they are saying is that there will be a tip already figured for you at both the 18% and 20% rates so that you don't have to do the math. If you plan on tipping at either of those rates, it is figured for you, but not automatically added. You have to tip OOP, they just tell you how much it will be if you choose to tip at either of those rates.

No, if you have a group of 6 or more they will automatically add the 18% to your bill, but the DDP will not cover the tip. You will pay the tip OOP. The point I was making was the fact the DDP no longer includes gratuity as it has in past years. You will have to pay extra for tips no matter how large or small your group may be.

You are correct about them including the various figures on the bottom of receipts to help you do the math. This is only printed for groups smaller than 6.

:thumbsup2

I do not have a problem with them eliminating the appetizer as it was a lot of food and my family are big eaters. But why elin=minate the dessert with lunch, I am a chocoholic and even I got sick of the chocolate cake. I would rather they do thaT, add a few $$ and include the tip. It would cut down on confusion and carry cash.

I think I am geting a headache.

Here is the siutation:
IF free Dining comes back in Sept of this year, we plan to have the following in our party
me, DH DD 13, GDM, GDD, DD7 and DD 2
So it would be 5 adults and I child for 6 nights and 7 days.
We plan on two rooms AT CSR. And we are paying for all of it.

Now the questions are:
If we all eat together and therefore a party of 6 18% with be added, how can I pay for the tip without GDM and GDD dealing with it?

If we plan on doing Hoop de Doo, Aloha, and CRT at least. Should we just go for the Deluxe Plan? ( I have seen bounceback people be able to upgrade for a premium - so I am assuming it can happen for us)

Also I see that the Goofy make your own snacks are still available - can anyone confirm?

Thanks
Reeddi

We are doing the Deluxe plan next month. If you spend at least $20 per meal (3) per day and spend at least $2 per snack(2).....anything over is a savings. We are doing a lot of character meals and 2 credit TS, so this makes sense for us.

As far as the tip goes, it will be presented on a separate check and you can opt to pay it.

Still can`t make our minds up over the DDP!
What do you get for a TS breakfast - not a buffet????

Thanks :goodvibes

The participating breakfast buffets do indeed count as TS.

I have not read the entire thread, so sorry if this has already been asked.

For those of you who have used the DDP this year or are planning to, how are you doing your tip? Are you trying to estimate what you think your tip amount will be and take a big extra tip envelope with you? Are you charging the tip or can you even do that? Please advise. I want it to be simple and to make sure they don't confuse my tip with the price of the meal (like charging me for dinner on my room or cc instead of DDP).

Also, I got charged for HDR and am on the DDP (we eat there 1 week from Tuesday). I have called Disney Dining and told them to reimburse me for HDR, but it still hasn't shown up on my credit card. It is supposed to be 2 TS credits, not charge to my card. They were supposed to reimburse me 2 months ago.

I've had the same issue come up for CRT. I have been told different things. I was told that I would be reimbursed when we arrived at WDW.....the other that I would be given a gift card in that amount. I decided to handle it at check-in since I have gotten two different remedies.

about being charged for HDR.. we planned on using 2 credits for HDR being on the DDP. I was wondering how this works being on the plan and how they require it to be paid in full when booking.

????

makes me not want to go through the hassle. we are a party of 8..thats alot of money..

I have a party of 5. which means no tip of 18% added to bill. I know the tip is not included in the DDP, you have to pay oop. I wanted to know if you have to tip 18% or could it be 15%?princess:

You can tip 15% if you would like.

Is the appetizer still included at CRT, since it is a one flat price meal? If not, I am dang sure not wasting two table service credits on it.

There is an appetizer included at CRT, although the menu is limited....with dinner having a better selection. The gratuity is also included in the price at CRT.

Do you think I made the right decision?

I changed today from the DxDP to the regular DDP. It was a hard decision, but I think the best for us.

I have two boys ages 12 and 10. So for me four adults on the DxDP is about $280.00 a day. Then I have two other children and theirs together would be about $40.00 a day. Together that is $320.00.

I added up the cost several ways. Like 1 TS and 2 CS. It never came up to $320.00 for a day of eating. Even adding in the tip. We don't do any 2 TS credit restaurants so maybe that would make a difference. We don't ever eat 2 TS meals a day either. (there was one day last year out of 10 days we ate at 2 TS restaurants.) But even when I added up the cost of 2 TS meals and 1 CS in a day it still didn't come up to $320.00. My four year olds don't need a refillable mug either, so I don't really need the DxDP for the mugs.

So am I correct in my numbers and changing to regular DDP??

If you went through the menus and don't spend that much per day, you are 100% right in changing.

I went through the numbers myself for our family and eating like we normally would, we couldn't even justify the cost of the DDP. We will save well over $400 over a 7 night trip not doing the plan.

The DDP and DxDDP do work for some, but they don't work for others. It's a numbers game.

I couldn't eat enough to justify the DDP plus or whatever you call it, but i love the convenience of ddp and not having to order the cheapest thing on the menu as I would if paying oop ( OK I'm cheap) I liked the tip being included but I guess I have to deal with the new ddp, I still wish they had given the choice of appie or dessert!!

Sounds like the right choice!!! I think the DxDP is probably only a good value for families that either like to do a lot of 2 credit TS meals and/or eat 2 TS meals per day at least on several of their days.
