2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

Just thought I'd pop in and say "HI" to Mary...and the rest of the cruisers here that I've had the pleasure of cruising with before.

Have a blast!!!

Last year they had a dedicated autograph session for Jodi Benson. The year before I know someone who brought two of Art Linkletter's books and while they didn't have an autograph session for him a castmember was able to get them signed for her.

A couple of years ago, we were fortunate to spend time with Art Linkletter. I had a book that I had won called Mouse Tales, A Behind-the-Ears Look at Disneyland, and Mr. Linkletter wrote the foreward in the book. After his presentation I was able to get it autographed (thanks for Tony and Adrienne whom I won this book from for winning Mouse Adventure on the High Seas 1 while onboard the Panama Canal Cruise!) Anyway, the day after he autographed it, our family had been invited to swim with the stingrays even though the excursion was not opened to guests yet. We got to CC that morning and most of the excursions had been cancelled due to high winds. But we were able to go over and feed and swim with the stingrays. When we got there, we ran into Mr. Linkletter and his CM guide, and were able to have a conversation with him for about 5 minutes with NO ONE else around. It was just a amazing to listen to him and he told us about his wife (whom was onboard) and I thanked him for signing my book. It was a blast.

Then just last year on the member cruise, we were at the adult beach and just happened to be eating lunch at the same time as Roy Disney. Thankfully, the guests from the ship were nice enough to let him eat his lunch interrupted! After he ate, there were a couple of guests who wanted pictures, and he was very nice and said of course, and then asked if anyone else wanted pictures, so of course, we did! I was able to get a couple! Afterwards, my sister, mom and I went to the Bahemian shops down by the stingray swim area, and who showed up, Mr. Disney. He was buying some shirts and asked if we liked the ones he was purchasing. It was fun being the only ones in the shops with him. He was very nice. And of course, it was one of the highlights for my mom during the cruise!

Oh, and while I am at it (since I just looked at my pictures), here are a couple of sunrise at Castaway Cay. Captain Henry said he had never seen the ocean so smooth! Just made perfect for us DVC members!

Hey Stacey! Wish you could come along with us! Do you have any cruises planned in the near future (Disney, of course!)

Oops, time up, got to get to the sink and rinse my hair. Working on getting the gray out before the cruise! :wizard:

Doing an 11 night NCL at Christmas, Disney's Mexican Riviera in June, and then the Panama Canal Eastbound in August.
After that, we might wait for DCL to bring us one of the ships over here on OUR SIDE and go wherever they decide to take us. If I can stand to wait that long. Might just have to sneak in a few more out of Florida to hold me over.

I know this information is somewhere but do the Cat 9 rooms have a refrigerator?

If they don't it wouldn't make sense to buy alcohol for the ship. BTW, how does one carry beer and wine on board? Is it okay to show up with a case of beer or a couple of wine bottles or Bailey's or anything else for that matter?

They have what is called a "cooling box". For the size, I would guess that is is about the size of a very small refrigerator in a hotel room. It will fit drinks, and such, but it is not "COLD". There is an ice bucket in the room which your room steward will fill for you in the morning and night. Those that carry beer and wine onboard usually do it in a backpack or carry on type piece luggage with wheels. We used to carry on a case of Diet Coke every cruise with a roll on piece of luggage, but no longer necessary since we can get free soda all cruise on deck 9. You can carry on alcohol, just put it inside a carry on, don't check it with the porters.

Also, we put bottled water in the "cooling box". It is not COLD, but it is not warm either. We usually carry off a insulated small cooler that holds 4 or 6 drinks and we add a little ice to the bottom to keep our drinks cold on shore excursion days.

I wonder why they don't have refrigerators if the space is there already for the cooling thing. Anyway, thanks so much for your informative reply.

Marylyn - we've always found the cooling boxes to do the job nicely for us.

Hi Stacey :wave:what a nice surprise on this thread.

Busy day as we had my in-laws over for dinner. FIL's birthday was yesterday and BIL's birthday is the day after we get back from the cruise. So we took care of all the celebrations tonight.

My DVC back pack will have a 18 pack of beer and a bottle of Captain morgan rum.My wife will carry some blue caraco so she can make Blue hawaiians.

Well, no docs and we leave on Friday. Got our Magical Express tickets though. :confused3

We always carry bottled water on and never have a problem (but Blue Hawaiians sound SO good - I like the way Tiggerguy's wife thinks!) The cabin guy usually does a fabulous job keeping our cooler supplied with ice.

This is going to be a pretty busy week getting all the last minute stuff done and preparing to leave so I probably won't be back on here much. We will see you guys at the 2 meets and most certainly see you guys around the ship! Have a safe journey everybody!:woohoo:

Not sure where in SoCal you are but my aunt in Oceanside got her's today.

No sign of ours up here in NorCal. I am betting Monday we will see ours - don't worry yet :goodvibes

We received our docs via UPS under our front door mat on Friday! Boy, there's nothing more exciting than seeing that DCL return address on a nice, thick envelope?

Fourteen days and counting (tick, tick, tick)!

Good morning Member Cruisers!

I never thought of a back pack. I have a rolling back pack in my basement that I can use. I gave my DVC back packs away. What's a Blue Hawaiian? I think 18 beers will have to be enough beer for DSIL. Can you drink beer on deck or only in your room? Can you bring coolers on board?

New topic:

Does it help to get to the port earlier than 12 pm? I am thinking of changing our flights so that we get in earlier. What time do the busses start to leave for the port from MCO?

Good Morning all,

Spent a vey long day at FSU yesterday. The weather didn't cooperate. We got rained on at the tailgate party and the game. Then the game got delayed by lightning. We left here at 8am and got home at midnight. But it was nice to see the boys ang hang out with them and their friends. They enjoyed the steak dinner and all the goodies. But we were tired. At least it was a good game.

Two weeks......we are so ready. I guess it's time to start getting ready. I am usually more ahead of the game.

Have a great Sunday. I am hoping for some sun and pool time.
