2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

I believe tips are included in this one, except for Palo's- but the experts her can confirm this.;)

yep, that's correct.

OK - folks, like my life isn't exciting enough. Been in the ER w/DD - was taken by ambulance and she called me and I rushed out. Am back home now and have to get some shut eye - left her in the ER and she is going to call me shortly. We think she has a kidney stone.

what in the world will happen next??????????????

Good morning everyone!

Kelly - tips are included for this trip (for the main positions of server, asst. server, head server, and room steward). You will get small slips in your room at the end of the cruise along with the tip envelopes. You put the slip in and give it to the person. If you want to increase over the base tip then you can just add cash or charge an additional amount at guest services.

As Joanne noted Palo's tips aren't included. There is a service fee for Palo which part of goes to the tip but many like to tip additional. Anytime you order drinks the tip is already included and it is up to you if you want to tip higher. The only time we tip higher is when on Castaway Cay as those people do a lot of walking over sand etc. to get us our drinks.

Kay - sorry to hear about your DD being in the hospital. I had a kidney stone a few years ago. Not fun at all but the good news is as soon as it is flushed out you feel better immediately. Hope she clears it soon.

am up again and off to the hospital, ASA I get dressed. They admitted DD and going to try and break up the stones at 8 am. They are 5 cm and too large to pass.

Oh my, what else can happen.

Good morning,

I have also been lurking about on the site, just barely enought time to read all the wonderful information that everyone is offering, which is helpful. My family and I are so excited about this cruise, it is just our family, DH, DD so we are ready to fun and relaxation ( if there will be such a thing.

Was wondering how many folks get dressed for the pirate night? I did not want to buy a full costume, but also wanted to fit in for the evening?

Also is anyone picking up the DCL shuttle from the SWAN resort on 21st? We will be picking it up there and thought we could meet some disers.

Hope everyone has a great day and I am very excited to meet all of you, you have such a repoire with oneanother and I hope to join in on that soon!

Thanks!

Hey jnmdisnuts,

Dawn and I will be in full Pirate Costume. So there are at least 2 of us.pirate:

I have seen pictures/read that people wear anything from full costumes to even just a Hawaiin shirt.

I am sure the veterans will give you more feedback tho.

Stacey

not everyone gets dressed in pirates gear - myself included.

But while in the dining room they give you cherifhs and make hats out of them for you. To see the different ones are great.

If you don't dress up, you for sure will not be "out of place". You will fit in however you are dressed.

Good Morning
Yes all are taken care of except if you are in a Club or bar you pay the tips. Of course you can give extra to your wait staff or your Cabin Maid if you wish. Nancy and I did in 2005. Our dining group gave extra and also Nanc and I gave extra to your cabin staff.

Ok, I know this is the cruise thread, and I have found myself only reading this thread lately (cause I love it soo much and can't wait to meet everyone)...so today I decided to poke around the threads.

You have got to read this thread (if you like happy stories and confirmation on how wonderful Disney and Disney Fans are) but I will warn you to have tissues nearby and don't read it at work like I did.

Of course, I am dressing up! And, for all you pirates out there, if you want to be in the DisBoard group photo it will be in the atrium at 7:50 p.m. pirate night and will be taken by Shutters. I will list in the mini navigator to remind you!

I was talking to my mom yesterday and my dad has been trying to pass a Kidney Stone for the last week. The drugs didn't work to get rid of it either, so today he is having outpatient surgery at 1:45 p.m. so they can take it out cuz its' too large.

I sent some pixie dust his way, I'll send some your way too Kay. Which daughter?

My husband is ill. If my husband and I have to cancel our cabin at the last minute will my daughter, non DVC member in another cabin, still be able to go on the cruise? I don't want to disappoint her, she has been looking forward to this for a year. I hope this doesn't happen, but just in case, what's the consensus on this? Will she be able to cruise on the member cruise without us?

Hope you don't have to cancel. Did you get insurance for yourself and your hubby. Hope so.

It is worth a call to DVC and ask them about your DD.

You know......if DCL would put the luggage tags online so when I fill out the forms I could print out myself on the big labels, then they could save the postage and not send me anything pony express. Think of the resources they could save by not printing all that worthless stuff.

Or maybe, just send it for first time cruisers only and CC members print out online since they are already familiar with the "non-package" they spend all that money on!

I should work for DCL. I could save them a ton of money! :hippie:

Ugh! I had kidney stones a few years ago. I can't believe how painful it was! Here's hoping she feels better.

I don't know if we will dress up much for Pirate Night either. With a formal ball, and having to bring the extra clothes for that, I am not sure it is worth hauling a pirate costume too this time...
