In honor of Friday and the new cruisers joining us I think it is time for another round of GTKYKFC (or Getting To Know Your Krazy Fellow Cruisers).

1) What is your packing strategy? (do you pack a week ahead, the night before, the day you leave, etc.)

2) Do you have any pre-vacation rituals?

3) What deck are you on for this cruise and what do you like best about that location?

4) What category are you in and what made that your choice?

5) Where are you staying the night before and why did you choose that location?

1) What is your packing strategy? (do you pack a week ahead, the night before, the day you leave, etc.) I actually started packing yesterday!! We're pretty much done with shorts here, so instead of packing them away in the closet, I put them in a suitcase in the guest room! :cool1: I have really bad OCD, so I'll be 99% packed about 3 days before we leave with a small post it on each suitcase of exactly what needs to go in.

2) Do you have any pre-vacation rituals? I always go and get a pedicure the day before we leave. I also need to clean my house like it's never been cleaned before because if I die or the house burns down I need for anyone who comes in to know I kept a clean house. :confused3

3) What deck are you on for this cruise and what do you like best about that location? We're on deck 7 midship, I read on the SSMC03 thread we were on deck 7 then but I don't really have a preference.

4) What category are you in and what made that your choice? We're in an 11 because if I have a window in my cabin and see the ocean whizzing by, I get seasick. That happened on my first cruise and we've been inside ever since.

5) Where are you staying the night before and why did you choose that location? BWV I love BWV!! And last year we were at POR and I felt like the red headed stepchild since everyone else was staying at BC or BW.

Here are my answers:

1) What is your packing strategy? (do you pack a week ahead, the night before, the day you leave, etc.) The dining room is our packing headquarters. Leading up to vacation we start putting things on the table that need to be packed. Right now we have our SSMC06 shirts, some shorts, disposable cameras and Cindy's CJ on the table. As we get closer to the vacation (maybe 1-2 weeks out) I'll bring up a rolling clothes rack and put all the hanging stuff on that. Then we usually try to pack the weekend before we leave. I don't like packing the night before as I always feel too rushed.

2) Do you have any pre-vacation rituals? We'll clean up the house and the day before Mark will take any garbage we have and dump it at work. So we don't make any more garbage we always go out to dinner the night before we leave. A nice way to get vacation started a little early.

3) What deck are you on for this cruise and what do you like best about that location? For this cruise we are deck 7 aft - my favorite part of the ship. Just a quick trip up or down the "secret" back stairs and we're in Beach Blanket. Great for grabbing breakfast to have on the verandah. Also very easy to get down to the movies, resturants, and internet cafe or up to the drink station.

4) What category are you in and what made that your choice? We are in a Cat 7 which has been our stateroom of choice for about 5 cruises now. It is a navigator verandah which means the verandah is enclosed on the bottom and has a very large opening (but not full opening) on the top. They are a little more private than a regular verandah (no one can poke their head around the corner) and also have a padded bench and chair.

5) Where are you staying the night before and why did you choose that location? The two nights before the cruise we are staying in a one bedroom at Boardwalk. First and foremost Boardwalk is our home. Plus since it is food and wine festival time we wanted to be in walking distance for that. We picked a one bedroom so I could do some laundry both before and after the cruise since we're doing a road trip. We did studios last year and I really missed my one bedroom!

1) What is your packing strategy? (do you pack a week ahead, the night before, the day you leave, etc.) I actually have my list ready the week before and pack during the week - usually overpacking.

2) Do you have any pre-vacation rituals? Getting the car checked out as I usually drive for my trips and packing it up til the day I leave.

3) What deck are you on for this cruise and what do you like best about that location? Deck 6 - it works for me.

4) What category are you in and what made that your choice? Deck 11 - a sideways room is always a nice size and seems so much bigger with the entryway.

5) Where are you staying the night before and why did you choose that location? OKW - checking in on the 19th after driving to VA and picking up Karen - what a fun trip this will be!

My turn!!

What is your packing strategy? (do you pack a week ahead, the night before, the day you leave, etc.) I start packing a few days before. I have a list saved on my computer from last year, so I'll probably use that to make sure I don't forget anything. I use our spare bedroom (which has turned into an office/exercise room) to put the suitcases in. The treadmill may not see much use that week because there may be a suitcase on it!

2) Do you have any pre-vacation rituals?Pedicure baby!! I keep looking at my toes and thinking about how I can't wait. Last year I splurged and got a manicure too, since the salon had a special going on a combo.

3) What deck are you on for this cruise and what do you like best about that location?Deck 6 midship. We were on Deck 2 midship last year and I like the midship location. Less rocking of the boat and you're in the middle of everything!

4) What category are you in and what made that your choice?Category 6. Since we're celebrating our anniversary with this cruise, DH said "Go ahead and get a balcony room. I know you've always wanted one." So, this will be the first time we've EVER had a balcony room on ANY cruiseline!

5) Where are you staying the night before and why did you choose that location? We are staying at OKW the night before the cruise because it's the only DVC resort on property that we've never stayed at and I wanted to give it a try. We just recently decided to go down a few days earlier than that (arrive on Wednesday) but we will probably find a place off property closer to DD's apartment for those nights.

1) What is your packing strategy?
We will be packed as early as we can. We will be packing on the 21st in the morning.

2) Do you have any pre-vacation rituals? Not really

3) What deck are you on for this cruise and what do you like best about that location? Deck 6 aft. I love aft because it helps from getting seasick.

4) What category are you in and what made that your choice? cat 11, its cheap and I tend to get seasick.

5) Where are you staying the night before and why did you choose that location? Staying at BCV until the 21st. We are staying at home the night of the 21st.

I'm up to my elbows in seating this afternoon. Who said this was going to be easy? :faint:

There are 89 of us who have contacted me to be linked. I'd say that's a pretty good group. party: :disrocks: party:

Another busy day here. I'm excited because finally my favorite exercise class is being offered again. They change the schedule several times in the summer to see what's popular and try new things....so BoSU hasn't happened since early June. I'll be jumping around in another hour!! :tigger: And tomorrow--kickboxing!!! My ultimate favorite!!

Diana,
You got to talk to Karen about the kickboxing - she's always wanted to try that...
