Sigh many of you have so wonderfully inquired as to what is going on with the wedding plans so I thought I would share our most recent situation - http://130.94.75.33/showthread.php?t=1176727 - we're booked for MK photos on 10/31/06 at 6 am and I cannot even explain how disappointed we are at this point as from what I hear screamscape is pretty accurate.

Oh Julie, I'll keep reading. Maybe it's worked its self out by now.

Hi Gail... I'll put your name on the list, assuming Johnny's fingers are still nimble by October.

David :earsboy:

David, if you have a list going, add my name as well.

In fact, I'm not picky, I'll take either Johnny or Orlando

We have AC here at work too..........of ocurse it isnt working right 84 degrees inside right now! Oh well better than the 102 outside!
I hope you all are staying safe out there!

Gail I hope your party went well!

Squid

Yikes! It was 102 degrees here? :faint: :faint: :faint:

That's hotter than Hilton Head was just about any day. Being we were by the beach and the pools, it sure didn't feel that hot unless we were sitting in a corner without a breeze. I'm thinking the pet sitter must have watered my flowers or they would have all been dead with that heat.

Welcome back, Cindy! We missed you around here!

Your story about the crab reminded me of something that happened to Ken and me while we were in Asheville. We had been out bike riding and decided to come in to eat lunch. We knew we would be eating a big meal that night (it was our anniversary), so we decided to get a sandwich and share it. There was a soft shell crab sandwich on the menu, so that's what we ordered. We took it up to our room to eat, and were we in for a surprise! I thought it would be crab salad, Ken thought it would be a crab cake, but no! I was the whole crab! :scared1: And as Ken put it, guts and all!! He called the restaurant and complained, and the hostess said "Sir, that's considered a delicacy here." And Ken said "Not for me, it's not!" Then the hostess asked if we would like a Black Angus burger instead, and Ken said "I'll be right down!"

Between two slices of bread? As in, a sandwich? :rotfl: I would have been just as surprised!

Good thing you didn't bite into it. Imagine the dental bill from that mistake.

Lily, I just bought the Athen crocs recently. They are like flip flops, however, they don't hurt my feet the way normal flip flops would. Usually I can't stand the feel of the thingy between my toes but this one doesn't bother me. And, my feet don't hurt after wearing them all day. I wore them most of the time at HH, except when bike riding, and not once did I feel like I needed a break. I've had a heel spur in the past and certainly don't want to go down that route again, so if they bothered me in the least, I would have gone back to my Easy Spirit gym shoes in a heartbeat.

So, I'm happy to report, no support issues for me. And, being they are open, no sweaty feet either. :thumbsup2
OK, maybe I just might try a pair. I don't mind the "thingy between my toes."
:sunny:

This turned into a really long post--so if you aren't into scrapbooking, just skip over, move along--nothing to see here! ;)

OMG! I learned some of the coolest things!! All this time scrapbooking, I've seen a bunch of stuff in stores that I wouldn't even begin to understand what it was--and now they are some of my favorite things to use!!

Let's see, I took 6 classes while I was there. The first bump in the road happened when we arrived at the Convention Center at 8am Friday morning. No power. Thankfully, we didn't stay on site because they lost power at 1am and didn't get it back until 10:30am. We're talking pregnant women walking down 13 flights in the dark and 90 degree heat here. It was terrible. Not anybody's fault but mother nature. We had a terrible thunder storm that knocked out the grid the center was on. So my 8:30 Disney class was postponed until 6pm. They made it well worth our while by giving us this awesome Wedding scrapbook kit for going to the class. Lisa Bearnson (she's a "famous" scrapbooking lady) was great and walked around, talking to everyone, taking pics. They made a crappy situation good.

My first class was a Bazzill/Basic Grey class where we made an accordian album and a 2 page BG layout using Gypsy I think it is. It was really cute. I had never used chipboard and did in this class. I really like it now, so much I had to buy a big pack of it!

Then was a Down and Dirty Class. This used alcohol inks, paints and fabrics to make 3 tags. It was very messy. All I can say is my new favorite thing is the alcohol ink. I hadn't even heard of it before and I just had to buy it.

Then the Disney Board Book. Basically, you take a board book and cover it with paper. Super easy, and super cheap if you just grab an old kids book to alter.

Friday morning we did an Embellishment class that I didn't like. The paper we used was Hot off the Press paper and it was "cheap", like flimsy. I wasn't impressed.

Then came a Little Black Dress Embellishment class that rocked! We used Prima Chipboard Book Covers and an accordian album. The coolest thing in this class was this ribbon they sell. It's really stiff and cracks but if you wet it, it gets softer and eventually turns into yarn. I went to their website when I got home and there's pictures of a dress they made using this ribbon! Of course, I came home with this ribbon!

My last class was my favorite. It was a Quick Quotes class called My Daughter's Hand, based on the poem by the same name. I'll have to take pictures of the book we made, because I can't even begin to describe it. It came out so cool!! Of course, I bought stuff to make more books that way!

I'll take pics of everything and load them into photobucket for you to check out. I had a great time and learned so much.
Wow, Diana, sounds like you had a blast!!! Don't ya just love those alcohol inks!! They are really cool. I took a class with Tim Holtz at a previous CKU and he used them. I'm glad that you had a lot of fun!!!

Sorry everyone for my ignorance....DVC Cruise 'newbie' here.......

Is there going to be a pre-cruise meet for DVC members prior to our cruise (ie. night before party??).

Can anyone please advise??

Twelve weeks can't come fast enough!!

Welcome to these boards, Northerngirl! There hasn't been any annoucement from DVC yet as to a pre-cruise meet, and believe me, we're as anxious as you are to know what's going on! However, many of the posters on this thread are going to have a mini-meet the Saturday before the cruise at the BCV. Check out Mark and Mary's website for more info. You can find it at:http://monorailgreen.info/member2006/index.htm

Feel free to post here again! We're a fun group!

Welcome northerngirl!

Mary pretty much said it all. No news from DVC yet. :sad2: We're all anxiously awaiting any info from them, so feel free to hang here and chat with us, getting to know each other while we wait. It definitely helps pass the time. Many of us have cruise before on the 2003 and 2005 Member Cruise, but there are lots of "newbies" too! Be sure to check out the website MaryJ posted, it will bring you pretty much up to date with all the official "unofficial" goings on! :lmao:

Welcome northerngirl! :) So glad you posted and looking forward to meeting you on the cruise!

We were newbies last year on DCL and the DVC Member cruise and learned so much from hanging out here with the crew.

Thanks so much Diana Lyn and Chipscinderelly,

Everyone sounds so terrific. My DH & I look forward to meeting everyone on the cruise (okay, maybe not everyone, but we'll sure give it a shot!)

We live in Canada's Arctic (think Polar Bears!!) so the Bahamas are really looking good to us!!

Welcome back Cindy, sounds like you guys had a fun relaxing time! We really need to find some time (and points too) and take a trip to Hilton Head.
