OK guys, I'm in need of some serious pixie dust here. (and some prayers won't hurt either!) Bruce was getting Julia ready for bed on the changing table when she flipped around and head butted the corner of the table. She got the biggest blackest bruise on her head almost instantanously, it is so raised it gave me chills to touch her head. We've gone through the head injury route before with her, and didn't want to take any chances, so he's on his way to the ER with her. Of course, I'm here with Emma completely helpless and a nervous wreck. The general rule is if they cry for more than 10 minutes to go to the hospital, I think they were in the car within 5 minutes and she was still crying. I'm a nervous wreck.

Oh course pixie dust and prayers by the truckload are coming your way.
A similar incident happened with Nick when he was little but everything turned out fine. Julia will be fine I know it in my heart.
:grouphug:

If you need anything I'm a hop skip and a jump away just pick up the phone.

Oh Diana - I sure hope all your fears are put to rest soon and that Julia is doing okay - I was always a wreck when mine were young and got hurt - :grouphug:

Sorry to hear that Diana. I hope they are back home safe and sound very soon.

Its hard to keep them from not getting hurt. So far we have been to the ER with 3 out of 4 boys.

I hope that your little one is OK....

I am preparing for my first of two cruises that I am doing that I will be leaving for in 9 days... I am soooo excited, but at the same time worried as I had the misfortune of breaking the second toe on my left foot last night.. It is all black and blue and in the DR. words I mangled it.... Please send Pixie Dust my way so that I will be mended enough in a week and a half to be able to enjoy the cruise to the fullest extent.... I have been soo excited, but I guess no marathons or high heeled shoes for little old me.... :rotfl:

Thanks everyone! In the quickest ER visit on record (an hour and a half from door to door), she's fine and home. She looks like she got in a fight though. I learned something new today, if it bulges out it's good, if it caves in, it's bad and more likely to be a skull fracture. :confused3 Emma did a great job keeping me company with lots of hugs and telling me it's ok, Mommy. But the dr checked her ears and she talked and walked fine for him and he said all is well. It's terrible just sitting and waiting though, my nerves are shot. You guys are great for "being there" though. Thanks! :wizard:

Great news she is okay and I have to just WOW....now thats an great ER visit time.

Diana - glad to hear that she's okay - now go and rest momma - you need it - being a mom can be quite exhausting! :grouphug:

:wizard: I'm sure you'll feel better by then. It's a good thing you went to the doctor's though. Unlike a certain other person on this thread who shall remain nameless. :rolleyes1

Ouch!!!
That just sounds like it hurts. Pixie dust and good wishes coming your way! :wizard:

It's funny, while you were posting your message I was online checking out hotels around Raleigh. We'll be in NC in June for my nieces high school graduation (They live in Clayton) So I'm checking out rates for everything plane/hotel/car. I might have to pick your brain some day and get some recommendations.

I hope your toe feels better soon. :wizard:

I broke my big toe the middle of November and it still has days when it hurts like the dickens. I never realized how much work toes get until I did  but I feel like I've been limping along for months now (actually I have :guilty: ). I hope it's not the same for you.

And, I want to get a pedicure but until my toe feels better, the idea of someone actually touching it :scared1:

Good to know it was nothing major. Scary, I know. Probably harder on Mom than on Jula.

Walker dove off the top of Cameron's bunk bed when he was 2. Straight down. Gary caught him by the ankle, which prevented him from hitting his head full force on our concrete slab floor. On the way down, he hit the ladder with his face. It looked terrible. Off to the ER we went.

Turned out he broke the bone above the eye. They wanted to do a cat scan on him to see the extent of the break. But, after I talked to the pediatrician and he spoke to a pediatric optamologist, they decided there wasn't any need to put Walker through that because unless it was broken to the extent of changing his facial features, they would not do surgery to repair it. So, eventually it did heal, but in the meantime, Walker looked like he had been severely beaten. :earseek: Quite a sight!

Would that be the person who should have gone to the doctor but didn't? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I was coming here last night to post but the DIS must have been down. I couldn't get in. Anyway, I have a pharmacy story to share.

Walker has been complaining of his ear hurting for weeks now as well as his stomach bothering him. We've been to the doctor a couple of times and since they can't see in his left ear because of gunk in there, they keep prescribing antibiotic drops, in the hopes of getting through the gunk. Well, my Mom instints told me that Walker was not right and I'm betting he has an infection in that ear and they just can't see it. We were at the pediatrician last Thursday and then yesterday, Gary took Walker in again.

Finally, the doctor prescribed an oral antibiotic. Walker's allergic to amoxicillian so they have to use other drugs for him. I don't know if that's part of the reasoning or not but Gary went to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription last night.

The pharmacist told Gary that the total for 21 days of the 1 dose medication was $300. :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: That's like $15 a dose.

Then the pharmacist goes on to offer Gary a deal. Because they can't mix the medication all at once, Gary had two choices. Either come back 1 x a week to get the refills and it would be the total of $300 OR the pharmacist could give us all 3 weeks of medication and a separate bottle of water so that when we need the refill, we can mix it ourselves. If Gary chose that option, the medication was only $75 for the 21 days.  Very big difference!

Guess which option Gary chose? Smart man I married.

Can you believe that -- $225 difference for mixing medication??? Something doesn't seem right to me in that calculation.

Good morning everyone!

Diana - good to hear that Julia is ok.

Cindy - sorry to hear that Walker's ear has been acting up. Smart man you have there.

Eeyore - hope you toe feels better soon!

::yes:: That is the same person I was talking about!

Thanks again to everyone. Julia isn't awake yet, but I can imagine she has a terrible headache. I didn't sleep much, I was going into her room every 2 seconds to make sure she was still breathing. Paranoid Mom. The nurse told Bruce don't be surprised if when all the swelling goes down the bruis moves down into her nose/eye area. Oh great. At least now you can't see the bruise under all her bangs. The doctor had also told Bruce that some kids when they get hit in the head, it looks like a cartoon how fast and how high it swells. I guess Julia is one of those kids. :confused3

Pixie Dust to All the need it! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Just remember, kids are more resilliant that MOM!

Diana, just be prepared for those "LOOKS" when you take her out!

Welcome back Janet - can't wait to hear about your trip. Were you in the Grand Californian the night of the fire? I hope not!

I owe you an e-mail about your picture. Will do that now.

Diana, I would have done the same thing. Sometimes I still poke/jiggle my children when they are sleeping, just to see them move so I know they are okay. I would have slept with her if it was me -- wouldn't that be a sight as I'm pretty sure Julia is still in a crib. :rotfl2:

It must be time for pictures. When my kids were little, everytime I planned to have pictures done, something happened to their faces -- a bump, a scratch, a broken eyebrow. It never failed. I think Walker's 18 month old picture is more like a 20 month old picture just because of all the dings. I eventually gave up and sure enough, he has a nice bruise on his forehead in the picture. At least it's truly a reflection of that day.
