2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006 Part 2

[Stitch#1]

I just received a couple of the small Disney CM albums. I was thinking about using one of those. But, I'm confused Is your album just a album without any pages? What I have is an album with the pages with a snap pack.

And for all of you scrapbook experts participating, please cut us newbies some slack and don't laugh too hard at our pages. Okay.

My album came with pages but depending on the number of people who do the circle journal I may need to add pages to make sure there are enough pages in the book for everyone to do there layout.

I found some great examples of CJ on twopeas web site and saved them to my favorites to give me a little push on what direction I want to go with my CJ. Funniest thing is one that I found was another Dis group CJ, I just thought that was a hoot!

I think I know what snap pack you have. I have the same one and used parts of it for an album I made for MIL and gave to her last Christmas.

Once again, I'm very jealous! Your Disney albums will have like 10-15 pages in it. The snap pack is paper and stickers and stuff to create Disney layouts. The album I won was a 7x7 but it's not Disney. Personally, I think I won it as a ploy to get me to buy more CM stuff. I mean, what good is a free album if you don't have any pages to put in it? With my 50% off Mike's coupon, the book I bought yesterday was $3 or $4. I'll never get anything from CM that cheap!

And as for your newbie comment. All of us were newbies once, and for me it was just 2 years ago. It's actually fun for me to go back to the early pages in my books and laugh thinking, wow, I was so proud of myself when I did that and it stinks. I watch my scrapbooking style change and get better as the girls grow, so it's pretty cool. I think with a CJ, you'll get better quicker because you'll get to see everyone else style.

When I go to my crop on the 15th if they have the Disney Album would you like me to pick it up for you?

Question for you scrappers. Anyone have the CIS XXL tote? Its about time for me to get one since I finally have enough stuff.

I have the CIS XXL. Like Amy mentioned it can get heavy depending on what or how much you put in it. I received it as a christmas present last year and love it. I unfortunatly do not have a scrapbook room so I need to store most of my stuff in it and put it away in my closet when not in use.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

We returned last night from a great weekend trip to WDW to spend NYE. Friday we did the CP at Epcot - oh my this was amazing and the food at Chef's de France was spectacular as well. Saturday we eat breakfast at Cape May Cafe (love those characters) and then went to Epcot for the day. It was great (ok well not all of it as the food in morrocco did not like Matt at all and he was sick in the middle of the night). We stayed through the fireworks and yes, they do have a special NYE ending that includes a countdown around the world showcase. They highlight each country and state when they celebrated and then that country has special fireworks. The ending is the American Pavilion (I have photos on the camera at midnight that I need to upload) and is awesome - then they go back to the lagoon for the finale. We were on the lagoon between the US and Italy and although we did have a slight tree in front of us we also could see the MGM fireworks going off. Epcot's clock appeared to be a bit behind in their countdown but still very worth it. Sunday we slept in, went to MGM, ate at Sci Fi and then took naps so that we could return to MGM for the lights and venture to the MK for EMH till 2 am (ok it was open till 3 we made it till 2).

Hope your 2006 is magical!

Sounds like a great time!
I forgot that they do mini celebrations as New Years happens around the world.
The Sci Fi is Nick's favorite place to eat. He could sit there for hours watching those movie clips!
I can't wait to get back to the World. God October can not get here soon enough!

I just wish it would have said we sail next week. Good to know, though, that we are definately on the list. I feel more official that way.

Now that I've filled up have a page reply to so many posts I'll add my last 2 cents.

In regards to people who tell you wether or not it's a good idea about taking young kids on vacation blah..blah..blah.
I say "It's My kid I'll do what I want and will cherish the time we had together". Then turn back and say "to bad you will not have those same wonderfull memories"

Sorry it's just that it bugs me when people do things like that, especially it they don't have kids!

Thanks for the responses, but I feel that I must apologize for being slighty unclear...
They have no problem taking their kids to WDW, but think that a CRUISE is a waste. Something hypocritical about them... one of them goes on 2-3 cruises a year, and at least once to WDW.

I just thought it was in bad taste that when one friend was nervous about the cruise for one that young, and concerned a little about the cost... that the responses were a little on the rude side. I hate to put a dollar figure on how much this cruise is actually costing us, but we will enjoy it!!!

OK, My DB just got back from Hawaii, and commented that the lady behind him changed a stinky poopy diaper in the seat. That does seem a bit wrong, I think she should have gone into the WC or something...

First, I'll comment on the diaper changing. When we flew down for SSMC05, Julia needed a changing. So DH asked the flight attendant what is the "preferred" method. She told him to do it right there in the seat because it simply wasn't safe to do it in the bathroom, there isn't enough room and if we hit a bump.... Luckily, we were on a half-empty plane, so he brought her to the back and did the changing there. Em and I just sat and watched the Wiggles.

Going back to your friends--and is a cruise worth it. I've said this to several people, I think I even posted it on a thread somewhere, could have been your friends. For us, the cruise was easier than the land portion with kids. The entire time you are on the ship, you are literally 1 minute away from your room, for naps, changing, meltdowns. No piling back into the car, no trams, monorails, boats...just a flight of stairs or two or an elevator ride. Also, there are 900 million tons of food at your disposal 24/7--what kid doesn't like that? Food makes everyone happy! . And there's always something for a kid to do, even an 18 month old, even if it's just wandering the deck and watching the water....you'd be surprised how fun that is to a little kid. The whole time you are on the ship, you aren't waiting in lines in 100 degree heat. You aren't rushing to get to the next ride, figuring out where you are going to eat and how economical each choice is. If it wasn't enjoyable, think I would have booked another cruise with a 3 and 2 year old?

I can completely attest to sometimes having the need to get your child quickly to your room because of a meltdown. As ridiculous as it is, Emily had a complete meltdown in the middle of the Atrium stairs one evening over putting her shoe back on. I quickly swooped her up the 2 flights of stairs and back to our room to get her to calm down. 10 minutes later and she was fine. But, had we had to deal with that in the middle of MK, it could have turned out MUCH different.

Good morning everyone! Well since we don't have kids I can't chime in much on that subject. The only time I've ever shook my head as to why a family would bring little ones was I think on our May '03 cruise. There was one couple sailing with a toddler (I'd say 3) and triplets under the age of 1. It seemed from where we sat that they had no help with them and dinner each evening was them feeding the children and not getting to each much themselves. The children all seemed happy and content and the parents didn't seem to look strained but I don't think I could have done it.

Now what I can remember of SSMC05 - we saw happy faces on all the little ones in the DIS group. One of my favorite pictures is of Amy's family down on the dance floor and Madison playing with the streamers (it isn't a close up shot just a group shot but I smile whenever I see them in it).

Maybe some people arent up for taking small children and thats fine but I dont know why those people then want to give the ones that do want to take their kids a hard time.

It's a pity that we have to be subjected to that kind of judgemental behavior on the DIS Boards. It used to be such a nice place to come to for sharing information about and our love for things Disney. Now you have to be careful what you ask, because instead of just providing the answer, someone is sure to make a judgement about the question. It's one thing to say "I wouldn't take young children to the park" as opposed to "why would you want to do such a thing"? One is an opinion, the other is a judgement.

Sandy - very true. However I think that this behavior is not just on the DIS. I've seen it in both other online communities and in real life. Very sad.

Well my kids have been going on DCL since age one. They love it! My youngest can't remember his first and second cruise. (but he likes to know that he went and likes all the pictures to look at.) I say if you don't mind taking them , go have fun as a famliy!

OK guys, I'm in need of some serious pixie dust here. (and some prayers won't hurt either!) Bruce was getting Julia ready for bed on the changing table when she flipped around and head butted the corner of the table. She got the biggest blackest bruise on her head almost instantanously, it is so raised it gave me chills to touch her head. We've gone through the head injury route before with her, and didn't want to take any chances, so he's on his way to the ER with her. Of course, I'm here with Emma completely helpless and a nervous wreck. The general rule is if they cry for more than 10 minutes to go to the hospital, I think they were in the car within 5 minutes and she was still crying. I'm a nervous wreck.

Oh Diana, I feel for you. When my dd was little she was jumping on the bed and fell and hit the corner of her eye. That cut bled like she had cut her head off. My dh took her to the ER while I stayed home with our toddler son. Waiting to hear is horrible. Prayers and pixie dust are coming your way that everything will be ok and they will be home soon.
