HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

We returned last night from a great weekend trip to WDW to spend NYE. Friday we did the CP at Epcot - oh my this was amazing and the food at Chef's de France was spectacular as well. Saturday we eat breakfast at Cape May Cafe (love those characters) and then went to Epcot for the day. It was great (ok well not all of it as the food in morrocco did not like Matt at all and he was sick in the middle of the night). We stayed through the fireworks and yes, they do have a special NYE ending that includes a countdown around the world showcase. They highlight each country and state when they celebrated and then that country has special fireworks. The ending is the American Pavilion (I have photos on the camera at midnight that I need to upload) and is awesome - then they go back to the lagoon for the finale. We were on the lagoon between the US and Italy and although we did have a slight tree in front of us we also could see the MGM fireworks going off. Epcot's clock appeared to be a bit behind in their countdown but still very worth it. Sunday we slept in, went to MGM, ate at Sci Fi and then took naps so that we could return to MGM for the lights and venture to the MK for EMH till 2 am (ok it was open till 3 we made it till 2).

Hope your 2006 is magical!

Julie, it sounds like you had a wonderful time. :cool1:

If I would have known you were trying to nap, I would have been happy to provide you with the wake up call. :rotfl2:

No t-shirt ideas, but I do have a small rant...

I was just on another thread where someone was concerned about taking an 18MO and a 4YO on a cruise. They are friends, and some of them frequent cruisers. They started telling her things like "I don't know why you are bothering, the kids won't remember." and "The people in the cabins next door will aprecieate not having a screaming child at 2am..."

I guess it sort of struck me in the wrong way, We will enjoy the cruise, and get lots of pictures.....

Oh well, Cindy, Amy... You have done this before. Can you give me any advice for my friend on the other thread???
[/rant]

:jumping2:

Cindy feel free to borrow "my" line whenever you want! :)

As for the ebay auctions - how rude! Guess the person wasn't creative enough to come up with something on their own so they stole yours. Glad to hear it was fixed.

Hey all, and Happy New year.....

I will admit I have been buried at work and have been dreading the 500 gazillion pages to catch upon, so I guess I will just ask if I have missed anything... maybe someone will take pity on me and give me an update.....My Dis Time is quite limitted now, at least until inventory is over with next week, and I will be trying to keep up....

\BTW, Robin got the e-mail, I didn't.....

Oh well...

See you around...
:jumping2:

Hi David.

The big talk was about the tshirt design. Some creative people are working on a design and then it's going to be posted so we can all vote on which design we like best. Unfortunately, I'm not creative so my input will have to wait until vote time.

Wooops, I see Mary already answered.

Good to see you David! This thread is kind of like a soap opera (in more ways than one) you can not watch for weeks and tune back in and be caught right up!

:rotfl: :rotfl: You are so right!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Maybe I should write an episode for this thread. :rotfl2:

pssst, David, I'm the one with Walker who is 5. Your 1/2 right, Amy has two little girls and Diana is the other one with the two little girls.

I didn't get an email! It's weird because I always got all the other cruise news emails from DVC. Thankfully, Amy sent me a copy. Thanks, Amy!!
I had this in reverse! I never got the emails for the other cruise at my primary email address, so I finally emailed MS and asked them to send them to a different, less used address. They came through fine there. Imagine my surprise to find the email in my main box today, but nothing in at the second address! :confused3

You're very welcome!!!

Thanks! I never even thought of having to lift it, lol.
I didn't either, but I'm glad someone mentioned it to me. I know that when I get my CIS Navigator filled, it's already very heavy to lift. I can't imagine if I tried to cram even more stuff in a bigger one.

Isn't that the truth!?!?!? You can go on vacation, get busy with life, and come back here and you can catch up in NO time!!!

At least you made it there this trip. One of my all time favorites. We'll be there in March. I'm looking forward to it -- as much as it's my favorite, it's my children's least favorite. Go figure. :confused3
We took the girls to Cape May a few weeks ago in early December and we had a great time for dinner. I'm sure that they would LOVE the character breakfast.

How cool is that!!! :cool1:

Sorry, Mary, I couldn't resist. I just borrowed your line!!!

Better than "borrowing" your ebay listing. Can you believe someone had the audacity to copy not one but two of my listings --- picture, words, paragraphs, everything!!! The only change she made was to some of the color.

No problems, though, it didn't take ebay long to pull her auctions. :teeth:

Hope it's not someone on this thread. :earseek:
I'm glad that ebay pulled it! That's not right! If you're going to sell on ebay, at least come up with your own pictures & descriptions. You can use others to model yours, but don't copy it word for word!!!

:jumping2:

Well, that's EXACTLY what I did this past member cruise. I had an 18 month old and an almost 4 year old and we had a blast. Now, my 4yo remembers everything, and even talks about it today. She can't wait to go back to "the club". As for the 18 month old, do those people that say those types of things NEVER go anywhere but home. I mean, heck, if they won't remember, then why take them to visit family, why take them to the zoo, why take them anywhere. They won't remember!! For us, it's about family time together! Sure, Madison may not remember, but we're having fun in the moment. And, we'll have pictures to show her when she gets older. Emily loves looking at herself in pictures and loves the stories that we tell her about what she has done.

Tell you friends to not worry about it and enjoy a family vacation together!!!

Well, here I am, talking to myself. You guys have all left!! Oh well, shows how lame I am?!?!?!?

The guys are here installing my new bar countertop. :cheer2: :cheer2: I can't wait until they are finally finished. The guys installing it are awesome, but the company that they work for is awful!!! They are horrible about communication, and have lied to us SO many times. They called us last week to tell us that we were on the schedule for first thing this morning, around 8am. So, at 9am, they still aren't here. We call only to find out that they are working on something that "came up". Give me a break, why didn't you at least call me!!!! Oh well, it will be over soon.

I saw that Cindy pointed you in my direction already so I'll add my 2 cents. First of all, no matter what it is, people feel the need to judge others. I'd tell your friends it's none of anyone's business whether or not their kids will remember....they as parents will remember and if you have any sort of heart at all, the joy on your children's face will bring tears to your eyes. That's really all that matters.

As for the screaming kids at 2am....not every kid screams at 2am, in fact MOST 18 month and 4YO don't scream at night at all. And in my vacationing experience, I've heard more loud, boisterous adults than kids.

My biggest suggestion to your friend would be just go with the flow and try not to go commando and schedule every minute. As a parent, I've learned to pick my battles, and this continued on the cruise. The hardest part on the cruise for us was dinner. Neither one of the girls wanted to sit and wait, so we took turns and made frequent walks into the hall to look out the windows and stuff. That worked well. We also had great table mates who were quite patient! So definitely recommend that they surround themselves with people in their same situation who won't be put off by kids and your friends will be comfortable.

Diana - I couldn't have said it better myself. The first time we took the family to WDW, my youngest was 2-years old. She had a blast in Mickey's Starland and remembers it to this day. Whether it's her real memory or her memory as she has heard us tell about it, who cares? We had a great time seeing her joy and the trip lives own in pictures and memories.

Exactly!!!!!

I think small children can have a good time on a cruise or vacation. They may not remember it at a later date, but at the moment they were enjoying themselves. I'm sure it's a bit of extra work for the parents, but if you're up to the challenge - go for it!!!!

Our 2 youngest were 5 months and 2.5 years on their first trip. No screaming or yelling from either of them. No my youngest doenst remember his vacation but 1 he was free so who cares, 2 we loved seeing his reaction to lights, characters and the rides he could go on and 3 he loves looking back at our vacation pictures seeing what he did on his trip when he was a baby.

Maybe some people arent up for taking small children and thats fine but I dont know why those people then want to give the ones that do want to take their kids a hard time.

Hi Everyone,

I'm out here lurking, hoping that I'll be part of the group come October. I am wait listed as of last week. I've never been on a MC and had no idea that it sold out the day reservations opened. We've been on the Magic 3 times, including the FL-CA cruise. You'd think I'd know wouldn't ya?

I hadn't decided to go until last week. My oldest son, 23, will be joining me. He's never cruised before. Our younger two have been on the other cruises with us and want to stow away, but not this time. We are actually going back out on the Magic the week after Thanksgiving '06 so they aren't being deprived in the least.

So here's hoping we'll be on the ship with all of you.

Juli

Welcome Juli!

Hopefully you'll get that lucky phone call. There was a gentleman on the last cruise who was on the waitlist who got called 2 weeks before the cruise so be prepared for that possibility!

Well just got back. Had a great time at WDW. The trip home ended the ear with a big bang! I recked my car in Atlanta. Went over one of the curves you can't see around. Traffic was stopped. Not enough time to stop. I did a job on a pick-up trucks bumper. :earseek: My van will be going in to the body shop on the 9th. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy New Year!

Welcome back!
Glad you had a great time at WDW (how anyone could not I don't know?)
Ouch on the fender bender. :earseek:
