Poor food signage on Castaway Cay/Lookout Point?

I have listened to a Disney Cruise podcast (forget if it was DCL Duo or DCL Podcast) and one of the guests was saying that the signage for food is very poor on the islands and it wasn't particularly clear that some of the venues all make the same food.

Looking at the maps, I'm a little confused by the comment of "you can get the same food everywhere so you don't have to wait in the big line at the buffet" - I see there's Cookies 1 and 2 on CC and True True 1 and 2 on Lookout. Are there other places that serve the same food as the buffet? From the maps, all I see other than the buffet places is bars/drink places.

We are a family of 5 with 3 young kids so what will probably happen is one of us gets food to bring back to the family at the seating area or on the beach.

I've heard the birds can be bad because obviously they want your food.

On Castaway Cay, both Cookies 1 and Cookies 2 serve the same food. The adult area did serve a bit of a different menu but not sure now that there is a new adult buffet area. There are many seating areas around both food area to eat which are under cover. I don’t suggest taking it to the beach.

Birds were terrible at SBB in July. Watched birds swoop down and eat whole plates of food. Not a single bird in October at SBB. Not sure what DCL did to run them off, but they were gone.

If you can’t find the food, just ask someone. They will help you. We had zero issues finding the BBQ as first time visitors to CC and LP.

Yes they are all the same on Castaway Cay for Cookie 1 &2 and Light house.

Mostly BBq type things. They give you a big tray and utensils to carry to go in and get your food. Soft ice cream and chocolate chip cookies are out in the middle . So is the drink station so you can get that anytime with going into lines. They also have a fruit stand at the two family ones.

Lighthouse buffet only has one family buffet but 2 large sitting area. Do the same. Only difference is you don’t go though a building it is windows for each item. Hamburgers, hot dogs at one and chicken etc at another. Don’t forget to go to the side it has huge bowl of rice and sea food and other stuffI think that they put in bowls. It is where some workers are stand handing out stuff. Again soft ice cream out in the middle. No soft ice cream at adult buffet.

You will see the picnic tables in big areas. Not hard to find the eating areas. Light house you will see the big overhead things where the buffet is.

If you can eat lunch at an off time you'll have an easier time finding seating. We couldn't find anything and ate on the beach...which i don't recommend because of the birds. But the birds have also been pretty pushy at the tables too

Best place to go for lunch is the ship, unless you like food that has been cooked hours earlier and left in a warming draw and then served lukewarm

I am not sure, but I think that most of it is cooked on the ship first, years ago the food was cooked in front of you on the island

In the past you could find your way to the BBQ from the smell of food being cooked, that cooking smell is now missing

They were most certainly cooking on the island when I was there in March. Grilling hamburgers and hot dogs right behind the buffets.

I have always found the food at Castaway to be quite good. Lookout was also good the one time I have been there.

We have only one cruise under our belts so FWIW -on Castaway we found a table that was not under the pavilion (only table left once we got our food) and we just went through the line with our kids and placed a cloth napkin over our entire tray and the birds were not a problem at all. It was kind of a game to reach in and grab something under the cloth before a bird could get it hahaha. If we needed to go back to the buffet or drink stand we just kept the napkin over our trays and the birds left them alone mind you we had someone sitting there as scarecrow guarding. Its an adventure!!pooh:
