Nasty storms rolling through. Not sure if I'll make it back for chat.

Would a non DVC member be able to buy points from a DVC member to for this cruise? Are the points for this cruise any different than normal DVC points for hotels? :confused3

I'd have to say I doubt it.
Manly because this is a special cruise and it sold out on Dec 3rd, the day you were able to book. This is only the thitd cruise they have done like this so it's almost like a coveted thing just to be able to get onboard.
The points are MUCH more for the cruise then any of the resorts.
Hope that helps.

Hi everyone,

It's been a while for me and I haven't kept up at all with this thread. Congrats to everyone for the celebrations I missed. Chris, I hope all went well with your CAT scan ( I only read this last page) and Mark I have pictures from MH but it may take me a little time to find them.

That's because I have big news, I moved to Florida over this past weekend. I now live in Lakeland, FL. I leave wonderful NJ behind and am content to get my NJ fix while watching Sopranos (please don't tell me what happened tonight, the Holiday Inn doesn't have HBO) and visiting during the holidays. I move into my apartment this Thursday.

I'll write more as the week progresses. Is anyone in WDW right now that I can meet up with? Please let me know.

They could rent/buy the reservation from someone who may be cancelling.

The points for Cruises in general are more than what you would pay in cash.
This cruise is a little higher but in the past Disney has given us guests and gifts and just made the member cruise worth the points.

Congrats Jeff! Chris grew up in Lakeland, and we both went to college in Lakeland at Florida Southern. Chris' mom, brother & aunt still live in Lakeland. It's a nice place to live.

Good morning everyone - never did make it into chat last night.

Jeff congrats on your move!

You are not kidding!!! Did you see how many tornado watches were in effect during the night? It's a good thing I slept through all of them. :faint: :faint: :faint:

It's foggy here this AM. Strange!!

Definately a wild night. Central Illinois got it much worse than us. Yes the fog was strange this morning. Seems to be burning off now. Off to work I go!

Congratulations to Matt on the 3.6 GPA - That is a great accomplishment! :woohoo:

Jeff, I'm so jealous of you and your move to Florida. :sunny: I'm sure you will be very happy. Now you can be one of those who tell us how nice your winters are now!!!

Chat was pretty quiet last night - I stopped in for a minute while at the baby's house and then again when I got home. Karen and Jeff (Copper3) were there but I was dead tired - I don't think I've been that tired in a very long time but I do have a good excuse, besides being old, I did spend most of the weekend helping the kids with the new baby. It's hard to type on a laptop when your eyes keep closing.

Jeff - again congrats on your great move to Lakeland. I, too, am one of those that wants to move to Florida someday soon.

Glad everyone made it thru that crazy night of storms safe and sound.

Congratulations to Jeff and Matt.

Nothing new here except the crazy weather. We are now under a tornado watch until 4 pm and a high wind adv. tonight. It is supposed to be 70 today (only 55 now so I don't think it is going to make it) and snow tonight. We have had a few days in the 50's and I was getting used to that. The rest of the week is only in the 30's. I really need to move somewhere warm.

We are back from Sonoma/Napa :thumbsup2

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa was very nice. I am calling later to find out what kind of pillows we slept on they were FABULOUS! I figure the cost of the room with tax compaired to the points we used came out to about $9.75 per point. Good use of points IMO. We would have never spent the money. The room was nice, but not breath takingly spectacular. I think I would have been dissappointed had I spent the over $400 per night using cash. The bed and pillows just made you fall asleep. The wine reception every night was nice and the complimentary bottle of wine in our room was pretty good.

The weekend was fun! We decided we like Sonoma better than Napa because it is less expensive to taste the wines and the restaurants we less expensive as well. We went to some of our favorite wineries and discovered new wineries we like even better. Spent way to much money on wine, but what the heck! We had a nice weekend!

DD won 3rd place in Sparring during her karate tournament this weekend. She usually wins in weapons and form so the sparring trophy is a first for her. She was the lowest ranked belt out of the girls she was competing with so I think she did GREAT! :cheer2: She is a blue belt and was competing against brown, red, black belt recommended and black belts. So, coming in 3rd against higher ranked competitors is a huge accomplishment. She wants to compete in the next tournament next month. She loves getting those trophies!

I hope everyone else had a good weekend! I will try to catch up on my thread reading later today.

It sounds like you had a fun weekend.

Congrats to your DD. That's Awesome! :woohoo:
Sounds like your had a good time this weekend, that's great.

Jeff - Congrats on the move, I'm so jealous!

Mary & Cindy - Glad to hear you weathered the storm. Sounds like you guys have some funky weather going on there.

The weather is wet and rainy here tonight DS & I are just going to snuggle up with some coco and good books until bed time. Jeff is in Manhattan and did some shopping at the Disney store on 5th Ave. He was going to buy me a set of mugs that when they are stacked on top of each other they make a complete picture. He sent me a pix message on my cell phone. They looked pretty cool. Oh and he also saw Tyra Banks and sent me a pix message of her.

Jeff---congrats and good luck with your move. I can't wait for the day I can say I live in Florida!

Julie--you've got one smart hubby to be! Congrats to you too Matt!

Roxann--Welcome home, glad the trip went well! Congrats to your DD!

Wow, that's a lot of congratulating!! :cheer2:

Let's see, I haven't been around for a few days, but here's my crazy weather story for the day! When I got home from the Y, I swore I was going to get back to posting on the thead....so I make the girls lunch and BOOM, it was the loudest noise I had ever heard. I had to look outside because I swear it was an explosion or a plane crash in the backyard. We live very close to the ANG base, so planes fly low overhead all day long. The entire house shook, it scared me so much the hair on my arm was standing on end. I call my old lady neighbor and she laughed b/c usually it's her calling me scared about something. We decided to wait until the noon news came on to see what it was, it was like 11:45. So the noon news comes on, nothing. But about 10 minutes later.....again, this time even louder. Then the power goes out. Turns out it was thunder, and the second bolt of lightening hit the transformer on the next street over. No power for 2 hours. Then the power finally comes back, after I'm twiddling my thumbs while the girls napped, I get all excited to get online and 15 minutes later, the cable goes out. That means no cable, phone or internet. I was beside myself! :badpc: So about 5:00 everything comes back and it's been good so far, but it just started thundering/lightening again, so I'm off for the night probably. :furious:
