2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006 Part 2

I am finally done with our 2005 scrapbook. 54 12 x 12 pages covering our June trip to WDW, our road trip to the DVC Member Cruise, our quick November weekend for Food & Wine Festival, and our December trip to Disneyland. I'm so happy that is done! Now I just need to reclaim my dining room as a dining room. :)

Wow Mary! That's great! Now just think . . . you can start on your 2006 scrapbook! Annmarie

WOW Mary!! That's awesome!! I'm in awe of you!! I'm so behind on my scrapbooking, but I'm still in the process of getting all of my supplies organized too. But, at least I've been working on some different circle journals, so I have been doing some scrapbooking, just not my scrapbooking.

Good for you Mary! I am gonna work on ours again tomorrow and some on Monday.

Thanks Soo much for all the Birthday Wishes... You know I never relized till today that I never put my name on my stuff... Oops.. For those of you that don't know it's Jennifer... All the Birthday wishes were great... I went back home for the day to see Family and then Came home and had a Carvel Ice Cream Cake... But it wasn't a Whale like you guys were talking about it's a face called Cookie Puss... I have no idea were that name came from, but it was right there on the box.... :rotfl:

Well Gang I'm Back from my Mini-Meet with Diana & Karen!
We had a GREAT Time!!
We had a nice dinner at Carrabbas with some very nice conversation.
Then it was off to Karen's House since she is de-cluttering the house to get it ready to be put on the market. Well let me tell you Karen was so funny. She was not going to let Diana or myself leave empty handed in the least!
Diana and I followed Karen to her house in my little Saturn and the car was much fuller when we left. She was so funny about showing us the stuff that we could have if we wanted it.

Yes we did take pictures and they will be posted soon!

Stacy, Karen & Diana - SO glad that you guys had a good time tonight!!! I'm glad to hear it!! Can't wait to see pictures!!!

Jennifer, it's funny you should mention that you never mentioned your name. When I saw your birthday, I thought, I wanted to use your name in my wish but didn't know what it was. So, I did a search and still couldn't find it. I eventually gave up and just wished you a birthday greeting using your screen name. I'm glad to know Jennifer wasn't hidden someplace in a post I just didn't look at.

Glad you had a good birthday. Another mention of Carvel Ice Cream -- I think that's the second time this week. And, the second time I've ever heard of it. :smooth:

I'm glad you had fun.

And, Karen, that's one way to de-clutter the house -- pass everything on to friends. :thumbsup2 ;)

We did have a great time. It was great to see Stacy again and Karen was so great to give us presents! My girls have gotten a few new toys to add to their collection!

MaryJ--I got your circle journal today. It is awesome!! I would never in a million years believe you've never done this before!

Warning--this is the longest post in the entire world, but it does have some important information, so read on!
***T Shirt Information***
Good Evening Member Cruisers!

As promised, I have done a bit more research on the t-shirt situation and have come back to you to report!

First, I know we are all very excited about Mary’s latest design, but I’m still going to keep the design voting open until April 1st. So get your creativity flowing!! Just keep in mind the copyright rules I posted last week: We cannot include copyrighted images in any of our designs and that includes any Disney characters. Even if we create a design that looks similar to Mickey Mouse, we technically own the rights to the artwork or drawing, but we do not own the rights to utilize the likeness of Mickey Mouse or any of the gang. Therefore the use of Mickey for sale of merchandise infringes on the rights of Disney.

On April 1st, I plan on setting up a public poll for the design choices. We will be voting on a front design (which may be used as a design for a polo shirt) and a back design. I plan on making the poll public, so not only can we see who voted for what, we can ensure that non-member cruisers votes are not counted.

I have not received any feedback yet from Cafepress or Zazzle customers, but I’d still like to hear from anyone with any experience, good or bad.

Here’s the information I’ve compiled so far:

Cafepress—
--I set up a shop with the different designs and products available for purchase.
--This shop can be set up so there is no markup (profit) above and beyond Cafepress’s normal charge. So I will not be making anything off this venture.
--We will have own shop url, where you can come and go as you please and buy whatever you’d like. However it will be private, meaning it is not able to come up by searching. You will need the url to get into the site. I do not plan on posting the url here on the DIS, so it will be only available to people who request it. (I’m trying to make it so only member cruises can buy these shirts and we don’t see them being sold on the street corner or ebay for someone else to profit off of.)
--You pay Cafepress, they ship to you. Any and all customer service/shipping issues go directly to them for handling.

Pricing and Shirt Selection— There are other items available to purchase, my research was only shirts right now.
Basic White T-Shirt $13.99 Sizes Child S-L and Adult S – XXXXL
Lime Green T-Shirt $14.99 Sizes S – XXL
Baby Onesie $7.99 Sizes 6mo – 24mo
Baby/Toddler T-Shirt $7.99 Sizes 6mo – 4T

Shipping starts at $4 plus $1 for each additional item.

Zazzle— This is set up a bit differently
--One option is for everyone to get a copy of the designs chosen. You can go to Zazzle with that image, and make whatever you’d like. No online shop at all.
--The second option is for me to create a shop, BUT it looks like the shop has to be public, and I think this is something we need to avoid.
--You pay Zazzle, they ship to you. Any and all customer service/shipping issues go directly to them for handling

Pricing and Shirt Selection – There are other items available to purchase, my research was only shirts right now.

Basic White T-Shirt $14.95 Sizes Youth XS – Adult XXXXXL
Lime Green T-Shirt $17.45 Sizes Youth XS – Adult XXXL
Baby Onesie $ 16.95 Sizes 6mo – 24 mo
Infant T-Shirt $ 12.95 Sizes 6 mo – 24mo

Shipping starts at $6.48 plus 49 cents each additional item

I think we should be able to do an informal vote here, just by posting your preferences.
That’s all I have right now, but feel free to ask any questions.
Remember, we are accepting designs up until April 1st!

First of all, thanks to Diana for all the information! Boy, you've done a lot over the past few days.

Anyway, I only have experience with Cafepress. We used them for our CKU scrapbooking event in Nashville last year. Very similar to what we are trying to do, we held a "contest" to decide the winning logo. Then, our list moderator created a "shop" and we all purchased our items. I didn't have any problems with their products or shipping. And, as far as I know, no one else in our group did either. And, as a matter of fact, we plan on using Cafepress again this year for CKU.

Plus, the prices that Diana collected seem to be better from Cafepress.

Great information Diana! I don't have personal experience with either, but after looking at both sites my vote would go to cafepress. What I like about them is that they offer things other than just t-shirts. I've seen other cruise groups that have offered coffee mugs, journals, bags, etc. I would love to have a journal and also a holiday ornament with whatever design we choose.

Diana - I have one request for whichever shop you set up. You listed prices for a basic white t-shirt but when you put up the final shop can you also set up an ash colored shirt. They usually are the same price as white and I prefer them to a pure white shirt. Thanks!

That brings up another question - If we do not like the color selected by the group: Can we request the images from Mary so that we can use another online company to get the tshirts made? I have tons of grey and don't wear white as well

From what little I've seen of Cafepress, the shirts can be setup in any of the colors available.

And, good referrals go a lot further than some BBB site. I too vote for Cafepress.

When we went on the Repo cruise VERANDAMAN set-up a shop with Zazzle. We had no problems! We were able to pick different colors, styles and sizes. There was one lady in our group who had a problem with shipping or something and decided she would not order from them again. I don't remember ANYONE else having any problems.

I know we had another t-shirt design on that cruise and it was set-up through cafe press. We did not order any of these shirts. When I looked online you could choose t-shirts, hats, bags, etc. I do not remember anyone complaining about this company.

I would say set-up with whom ever is easier to work with and has more options as far as colors, styles, sizes, etc. etc. Cafe Press was less expensive as far as product and shipping.

Thanks for taking on this endevor Diana :grouphug:

A couple of people addressed this, so I'll answer it all here with one general response. The ash grey shirts are the same price as the colored shirts, 14.99. I used lime as an example, but grey is available, and I do plan on adding it to the store. Also once the store is set up, if you see an item on cafepress what you would like, I can always add it to the store, it's not a big deal. I didn't want to list every item they offer, because there are hundreds, but they also have coffee mugs, tote bags, stuffed animals, even underwear that can be designed with the logo.

Sorry guys, I'm really not trying to overpower the thread with t-shirt information, I thought my post was pretty long! ;)
