Who invited Milton to her 21st Birthday?? An October 2024 Trip Report---UPDATED September 9th!

That is not a Vulcan "Live long and prosper" gesture.

Wait... wrong franchise.
:rotfl:

I didn't even notice he was making a hand gesture!

Such a good ride. Remember when it was the premier ride in the park and you had to run to get to it (and get paper FPs)?
Yes! Back when I read the Unofficial Guide from cover to cover and learned I had to run there with everyone's cards in hand to grab our FP for the day! I really loved running from FP machine to FP machine! Definitely got all my steps in back then!!

Cute shot!
or something!

And you're saying the hurricane isn't there yet?
:rotfl2: You would think but nope!

I prefer the 1st floors on the resorts with outside corridors. I like being able to just walk out the door and go, and not having to climb stairs at the end of a long park day.
Another good reason! This is a very nice perk!

Such a nice resort. :)
::yes::

Young brain memories are the best.
We had those once...I don't remember where I put mine :confused3

I'm sure many people have October birthdays.

🥳

Or... go solo... more often...
good plan!

Once in a blue moon a synapse fires.
Haha!

Oh yes. No fruits, vegetables, meat products... Some exceptions, but when asked "Are you bringing any food into the country?" it's easier just to say (truthfully), "No".
Snacks are okay, but... I don't want to just eat candy or chips for my meals.
Sure...just grab a bag of skittles and some Reeses peanut butter cups and you'll be good for a 2,000 (3,000??) mile ride!

Miss that.
I really loved running from FP machine to FP machine! Definitely got all my steps in back then!!
And got multiple rides in too!

Yikes! Have you actually done that? I thought you flew down!

I'm here!

I know that hurricane all too well. Wasn't sure if it was going to affect my cruise I had set.

Have done that at least twice. But usually fly. I don’t often want to use 4-6 days of Disney vacation just driving.
Yikes...that is a long haul! Mike doesn't mind driving and wants to drive out West at some point. I guess I would if we were retired but yeah, spending 4-6 days of your precious vacation time just for the drive sounds pretty terrible :sad2:

Hello! Thanks for joining! You were on a cruise during Milton?? That's crazy! Did you miss your ports? I think the cruises can be more accommodating because they can kind of sail around them but I know just recently the Eastern Caribbean turned into Western because of a hurricane. I can see how that might be disappointing to some people, though I think I'd be happy just to be safe!

Sometimes I like a road trip.
I’ve driven to most states. I’ve been to California a couple times but not driven to it. Haven’t been to the east of New York State yet. Don't think I’ve driven thru New Jersey. (Came close; went from Philly to Delaware.) Same with South Carolina, close but don't think so. Not sure. Been to Alaska but not driven there (but hope to.)
And while I’ve driven on three different Hawaiian islands, of course you can’t drive to them.
Driven through the rest, I think.

I'm excited you'll be writing about your trip! That was a long drive down, but I love the idea of being able to wake up and drive the last little bit of the way to WDW. I really don't like flying, but I do like getting there faster. I bet it was nice to enjoy the time together, just the two of you, before everyone arrived. I'm excited to read about the rest of your adventure...even the Milton parts!

You've seen more of the US than I have!

Hi Jackie! Thanks for joining! It was nice to have a couple days to just get settled in and do what we wanted!

WINE BAR GEORGE REDEMPTION?

After walking around checking out the resort (which only took about 5 minutes since it's so small :-)) we took the boat down the Sassagoula to Disney Springs. By far, this is the superior way to arrive to DS, beating bus, car and rideshare.

I love how even Disney Springs gets decorated for Fall...
IMG_5151.jpeg

we headed over to one of my favorite spots in all of Disney, Wine Bar George. Mike has mixed feelings about this place since the very first time we went we sat outside on the upper patio and the sun was beating down on him and he was literally sweating so much it looked like he was running a marathon. I thought it was hysterical but he thought he hated WBG because of it! (I'm going to have to look for that pic because it's so funny!)

Since then we went back for lunch one time (insisting on sitting inside in the AC) and he got a chicken salad sandwich that he really loved and because of that I got him to try again on this trip but little did I know they don't serve the chicken salad sandwich at dinner. It's on a very specific lunch menu during the week. Uh oh...would he hate WNG again? We'll see...

We got the
House-Made Meatballs
triple cheese polenta / tomato sauce
IMG_5156.jpeg

Artisanal Cheese Board
four artisanal cheeses / condiments
IMG_5157.jpeg

Sangria and red wine, I'm guessing Cabernet...
IMG_5163.jpeg

Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites
tomato nage / pecorino
IMG_5164.jpeg

and
Burrata with heirloom tomatoes / fresh corn / local sourdough
IMG_5166.jpeg
I absolutely loved everything. My favorite is the Mac & Cheese bites, they are just about perfect.
But did Mike love it or hate it? He actually liked it well enough though he tends to like an actual meal more than a bunch of small plates whereas I love a little of this and a little of that. Plus the food and Sangria is soooo delicious here. I will definitely be back...with or without Mike! :rotfl:

On the way back to POFQ, the hot air balloon was in the air and looked so pretty.
IMG_5169.jpeg

We called it a night after that! We were planning to get up early to move to BCV and rope drop our favorite park.

That's next!

EPCOTTIANS

We were all packed up and heading out of our room at POFQ by 7am...IMG_5176.jpeg

We drove over to Beach Club and left the bags in the car and walked over to EPCOT...

We ended up where I always end up...on the railing on the left side of the crowd to wait for Remy...
IMG_5180.jpeg

By 8:26am we were walking into the ride which was fun, as always.
IMG_5190.jpeg

After our ride we headed to my favorite QS in EPCOT...

IMG_5201.jpeg

We had gotten the DDP for the one night stay and used it for WBG and then we had 2 QS meals left for this day so we ended up sharing a meal and also shared a Mimosa which I normally would not have gotten but was delicious...

Everything there is so good, you can't go wrong!

Mike and I have that Parisian Brunch reserved for our upcoming trip in October and I hope it's just as good as this...I have seen some pretty good reviews so far which is encouraging.

Afterwards, we walked over to two of the best rides in EPCOT...
IMG_5213.jpegIMG_5215.jpeg

Haha...they couldn't be more different!

Mike doesn't go on Guardians so he poked around the shops and went to Club Cool for some drinks.
And I can't remember what song I got but I'm sure it was fun!

EPCOT continued in next post...
