20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

Truly a pleasure, Kim.::yes:: Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Nikki-Officially we got 5" about 35 miles from here and now winds gusting 25-35 mph is really kicking it around. When are you leaving? Are you going to be able to meet Cheri and I for a "soda pop" at the Hyatt?
trink32.gif

Jen-(dizmomof2) I'll keep my fingers AND toes crossed for you that you have no problems. Where are you flying out of?

shingle-get plenty of shut-eye on the plane as you cross the big puddle. Rumor has it that Gary and Gail are real party animals. :teeth:

I've been packing all afternoon. Actually, mostly arguing with my kids :chat: about why they don't need 23 pairs of pants and 32 nail polishes for one week. And they will survive a week without a play station. Good grief. Did someone say you're not supposed to bring a travel iron? I can't possibly stuff all these clothes into one suitcase a piece and not expect to spend most of the cruise running back and forth from the laundry room to iron everything.

Dean - that was very well said. This forum has been a lot of fun. I've never been in a chat environment before. I think my friends here think I'm crazy (ier) - talking up a storm with a bunch of strangers. I feel like I know you all. Thanks for sharing your joys and sorrows and making me laugh out loud. Thanks for helping build up excitement about the cruise. ::yes:: This is my first ever cruise too, Dean.

Now, I'm not only looking forward to the cruise, but I'm looking forward to meeting all of you too.

To echo Dean, I hope everyone has safe, crisis-free trips. Stay warm the next few days. I'm looking forward to sharing a froofroo toast with all my new friends.

HI everyone,
I haven't been around much...had to shovel my way to the computer. :sunny:

I too am a bit intimidated by all of this bad weather...it seems to just keep coming and coming!!! We are in for a major ice and snow storm overnight tonight. Probably no school tomorrow which cuts down my alone time to get things ready to go. Oh well...will have to find something to entertain the kiddies!!

Just took my DD -7 to her first orthodontist appt. She is in for some major work due to her thumbsucking when she was younger. Yikes! May not be able to afford a cruise for next year after getting an estimate on the dental work...about $2000!!!!
And DS-6 also thumbsucked...the orthodontist is already smiling at the idea of having him as a patient next year!

I still have some last minute purchases to make for our trip but have not been able to get out to buy to them...I am really cutting it close now!
Maybe I can hitch a ride on a snow plow into town!!??:teeth:

Take care and I will probably check in tonight! I was to attend a high school rezoning meeting tonight however the snow may keep me in!

Everyone stay well and safe travels!!

Whoo hoo! FINALLY, after years of being last because my maiden name started with "S" and now it starts with "T", I'm FIRST on the list!!

GREAT list, guys, thanks!!

Thanks for the list Dean! What a lot of work!:D

Kabuli1 I just pm'd you.

Looks like a snow day for the kids tomorrow! Maybe DD will be able to finish her project!!!:cool1: As long as there is no snow on Friday we're fine.:smooth:

:earsgirl: :earsboy: princess: princess:

Wow, i started packing finally!! Granted that i'm nowhere NEAR finished, but i blame that on the fact that i have to get my Senior pictures taken tomorrow... So i can't yet pack those clothes, shoes, makeup, and hair products... But yeah, we have a SIX AM flight coming up on Wednesday! I have an overnight visit @ Stetson U. before i cruise! The weather here is incredibly snowy and icy and windy... and just FREAKING COLD!! Just think warm and sunny thoughts, right?

Oh where, oh where could my sanity be?
Oh where, oh where could it be?
With my suitcase half full
And clothes scattered around
Oh where, oh where could it be?

Dean --Thanks for the great list and for taking the time to keep such great records...I nominate you as the official secretary!
Have we created a name for our not so little group? Something about speedos, froo froo drinks, toques and just plain craziness??

I look forward to meeting all of you on the cruise.

:cool2:

I don't read all that much fiction, and I haven't read Mary Higgins Clark, but I mention it because she lives near me and does book signings quite often in the local bookstore. I don't know her, but I understand that her work is quite popular.

Cap,
Welcome to sunny Florida! You are the first, so I hereby welcome you with my version of an umbrella drink, either a yummy fresh squeezed lemonade or a glass of milk, made any color you want, even chocolate! I do put funny straws in them too. Come on over!

It sounds like you want to be in on this impromptu reading party, who else wants to join in? It could be a lot of fun, very quiet, but loads of fun, punctuated with the occasional belly laugh!

Renae

Hey everybody,
As much as I'd like to plan this party, I'll just have to try to make it there. With us working our week around my D IL's, I don't know what we will be doing when. It would be better if someone else did the planning and roping off of the secret verandah. If we did it on an afternoon of a sea day, then it wouldn't be in the way of a Palo Brunch for anyone, and it won't mess up dinner plans. Other than that, I won't be much help. Sorry! Just let me know when and where, and I'll try to be there.
Renae

Renae --I would like to join in for the group read.
I will come with journal and book in tow!
Just let me know where and when!
Have a good night!

Hey, what kinda party hall you running here, eh? Lemonade? Milk? You won't need an umbrella for those drinks - already rain diluted, humph, eh?.

Now what made you think you had offended ayone? As far as I'm concerned, you made my day many times! BTW, I still need to know if that link you sent for the smilies is a good one or if they 'ad' you to death if you use them?

It's raining in Orlando now, I think so that it can get out of our system before this weekend. I can't wait to meet all of you on Sat.

THIS IS GOING TO BE SOOOOOOOO FUN!:Pinkbounc :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :teeth:

Dean,
You deserve a standing ovation for that list!:Pinkbounc Wow! That's a lot of work! We will all be eternally grateful.

For those of you leaving soon, we will pray that you get good weather for the flight and clean roads if you have to drive. I'll be here with my milk mustache waving from the roadside as you pull into Orlando. You can't miss me, as I look like a Welcome to Florida road sign...

Renae

Hey, Renae-

I didn't mean to ignore you. It's just that old-timers disease I'm inflicted with, eh?

The site I use most often is www.emoticons4u.com. I haven't gotten a lot of popups ads from it. There is another one at click-smilies.com that is terrible for ads and pop-ups. I had to download spyware to get rid of the embedded codes. There is one more I have used called mysmilies.com that has a bigger assortment but not as many animated icons. It too has not left me with pop-ups.

Hope that helps.

I cannot take credit for this last list. Barbara did all of the hard work in sorting out the stateroom numbers, putting them into order, and then alphabetically listing the remainder of the names. Thanks, Barbara

Aww shucks, Dean. You're so sweet. You really did all the work. I just copied and pasted what you already had put together. You went to all the trouble of getting everyone's information together. You really are the superhero compiler. :smooth:

Our weather forecast is pretty iffy the rest of the week too. Looks like lots of the wet stuff :umbrella: in various formats. The bright side is that we'll all appreciate those blue skies, warm air and tropical breezes a lot more when we get there.

Hi everyone - we are leaving on Wednesday, so this will likely be the last time I post (otherwise I will miss the plane because I'll be busy reading all the great posts!!!) Randy and I are looking so forward to meeting all of you - you have all become friends over this past few months, and it will be great to spend some time together in person (although the virtual parties were great and perhaps we can carry on with them after the cruise!!) Thanks for putting together the list, Dean and for being a super co-chair of this thread... Gary, you did a mighty fine job, too!!!

Jami and dizmomof2 - I LOVE Mary Higgins Clark...

See you all on Saturday (some of you on Friday), safe travels to everyone!!!

Hi everyone,

I have been pretty quiet but I have been keeping up with the posts. I think for my job security it is good that I only discovered this board in the last week because I got hooked pretty quickly.

You are all such good friends already... I hope to catch up to you guys on board and be included....:

When I showed my DH the list and the different posts he thought I was crazy...Internet meetings.....I think I scared him LoL....

Well my dear southern neighbors, let me tell you that any pre-conceived ideas you may have about the weather in Canada would be totally accurate today. 45 cm that's about 20" of that white stuff with winds strong enough to shake my van, visibility is almost at 0. It's freaking cold eh!

I am panicking about packing. My god this cruising thing is a bit more challenging than resort life. Formal, casual,.....

I bought DH a "froufrou" drink shirt....I'll fit right in. I, on the other hand, will be happy to get into something that fits.

I am an avid reader too. My favorite authors are Meave Binchy and Jeffrey Archer. And I have a big weakness for hot romance novels too.

Well, we fly out on Friday morning....very early....too early as far as I am concerned.

One last question. What is a good night to book for Palo, I mean what or which restaurant should I not care to miss?

See Saturdays cruisers
