20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

Dean and Barbara,

Thanks for the outstanding list! It will help us to find you guys when we get onboard. I've only been on these boards for a short time, but what a great group of people you all are. Thanks for making me feel welcome!

Best wishes for safe travels for everyone. Let's pray that none of us get snowed in. We'll see you all when we board. I think that we are supposed to be looking for someone from the DIS boards as we board. Anyone rememebr who we were supposed to meet?

If we miss you all, we will see you at the gathering at 3pm.

Mary Jo

Hi, Mary Jo-

When you board, look up to your left and Gary and Gail will be on the terrace welcoming our group. If Cheri and I get there in time, and after we make our own ressies, we will join them to wave at our new friends as they board.

Nice to see you back, macrhea. Look forward to meeting you on board!

Annie, have a safe journey and keep a close eye on Randy. Can't afford to be one short on our speedo and torque teams.

Cap

20 foot ethernet cable? Can you get high speed right in the room?

Thank you for the phone number and rate. Saves me posting the question.

Have to start packing, leaving Wednesday in case the weather gets bad.

dizmomof2 (Jen) - call me if your up.

Thank you for the list. Picked up some light green micky colour samples from Home Depot - they were all out of the true lime green mickey sample? Who would paint with that ?

Mike

Once again, I'm up late before a travel day. Pretty much everything is all packed. Need to write some addresses down for postcards, put in some loose ends. Thank goodness I'm reading the board tonight. I suddenly realized that I forgot to pack the little guys dress shirts, ties, and jackets! I bet I was subconciously hoping I could then order them tuxes. Oh well. Better save the $$ for frou-frou drinks.

I made a concious decision to overpack and it feels really good. Usually, I say I'm packing light and get all worked up about what to eliminate. I just sat there looking at it and thought, I don't want to think about this (ala Scarlet O'hara), I'll just pack it all. Phew, I feel so much better.

Reading Rendevouz - once I'm away from home I bet I could think of this a bit more. I'm not sure what free time I actually have b/c we already booked things on the sea days via the R.E.A.S. (Remember the code? - Romantic Escape at Sea for the new folks). So, I'm hedging on a committment here...just saying I'll think about it once I'm on the plane. If it doesn't come together before Saturday would everyone be ok with a message on their phone with a day and time?

Well, better get to bed. I'll be able to check in from the in-laws.

Juli

P.S. Didn't really have time to respond to all the great discussions. Hope everyone has a safe journey. Thanks so much to the co-chairs and friends that put together the list for us, organized get togethers, and kept us going the last few months. Looking forward to meeting everyone. I will definitely be wearing Lime Green when boarding the ship!!! Sure that will make it easy.

:teeth:

Okay I am up way too late doing laundry.
Here is a little Canadian humour for you all! enjoy and safe travels to the many of you that are on your way tomorrow (Wed.)

Three men were traveling and happened to meet at a bar in Ohio. One man
was from Texas, one from Florida and one from Canada. They got acquainted and started talking about their problems with their wives.

The guy from Texas began by saying, "I told my wife clearly that from now on
she would have to do all of the cooking. Well, the first day after I
told her, I saw nothing. The second day I saw nothing, but on the third day
when I came home from work, the table was set, and a wonderful dinner was
prepared with wine and even dessert."

Then the man from Florida spoke up "I sat my wife down and told her,
that from now on she would have to do all the grocery shopping and all
of the house cleaning. The first day I saw nothing. The second day I saw
nothing.
But the third day, when I came home, the whole house was spotless, and
in the pantry the shelves were filled with groceries."

The fellow from Canada was married to a woman who had grown up in Canada all her life.
He sat up straight on the bar stool, pushed out his chest
and said. "I gave my wife a stern look and told her, that from now on she
would have to do the cooking, shopping and house cleaning. Well, the first
day I saw nothing. The second day I saw nothing. But by the third day, I
could see a little bit out of my left eye."

Barbara,
Thanks loads for helping Dean get this list together! You did more than you are admitting to, and we appreciate it. It will help us to navigate all the hallways trying to get the red ties on the right doorknobs.... he he he...

Dean, thanks for the smilie link. It will come in handy.

To whoever said the lime green paint chips were gone, I bet it's all DIS'ers, we used them on our last 2 cruises and we weren't the only ones wearing them! I'll be wearing my big pin with the paint chip from last time, so you can recognize me.

It looks like there will be very few of us left in a couple of days, I'm always the last one posting because I don't have to travel far. It's just one of the perks of living here! Anyone who wants to move, I can tell you that it's the best thing we ever did!!!

ttfn, Renae

Annette,
Wow, you gave me a laugh at 2am! That's saying something::yes::
I have a sister who married a Canadian, and he had his hands full with a Washingtonian, just about the same way too.
I guess I'll try to get some sleep, I don't have to 'work' tomorrow, just work on my packing, clean the house, do laundry.... just the usual. Thank heaven we get a week with nothing usual!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hi ho, hi ho, there's only 4 to go!!

Good morning!

Here we go again. Wow, is it cold today. Air temp -15 with a very BRISK wind from the north. If it don't warm up some I'll have to get a robe to wear over the speedo.

Have a great day everyone.

Dean

Guess I'm the first up this morning!

At this moment I'm looking at more to do than I think I have ever had to do in one day.

dismomof2 - count the three of us in - I'll pm you.

Dean, a few pages back you so eloquently expressed how much this group has meant to you and I couldn't agree more. Over the past 6 1/2 months this group has become my family. Gary and Gail have become aunt and uncle to a couple of my kids! I know that a week of dining with Dean and Cheri and Matt will result in a lifelong friendship that I am looking forward to w/ huge anticipation. The last 4 months have been the most stressful ever in my life, but I've had this place to be at home and to relax and laugh. I honestly don't know what I would have done without all of you.

Like others of you, I'm thrilled that tomorrow morning I'm flying out of here and after I thaw out for a couple days, we're going to meet and be together for the best cruise ever! BUT I'm sad that this fellowship here will be ending. There are a couple solutions - we can move our gang to the community board and keep this up . . . OR you could all sign up for the 10-day Christmas cruise . . .OR we can all sign up (on board) for another cruise next winter. If we do the last, we can be right back on here the very next week and keep the conversation going! We just need to know what date we're doing next! Suggestions?

Anyway, I'll help w/ the book thing - talk to me at the meet, or look for me w/ Gail and Gary waving from the balcony on the left when you walk in.

I will be toward the front of the line - I will be in ALL LIME GREEN (t-shirt and capris) and Jill will have a lime green shirt on. We will have our Gary/Gail Special Hats on. Dean, Cheri and Matt - I'm saving you a space in line, find me!

One last thing: looking out the window today, I'm greeted by all white everywhere! But the forecast for tomorrow morning is cold and clear. Nikki, you nailed it!

Once I leave, I don't know when I can check in again. Maybe Jill can from Stetson. If you're there when we are and we'll be in the parks Thurs afternoon and Fri you can reach ou cell phone: 630/379-8214. (I'll edit that out before I leave tomorrow so write it down now!)

I'll be checking in today from time to time. Have a GREAT day of prep or travel or if you're already there - ENJOY!!!!

Hey Dean, are we taking the bus together Saturday morning? Beat ya there!! *snicker*

*PHEW* I always stunk at that forecast thing...I wanted to do research, you know...fly into hurricanes, that sort of thing...but I got one right! WHOO HOO!! Gold star for me...

*applies gold star to forehead*

I'm going out with a friend tonight, and then heading home to wrap presents for Tyler's birthday tomorrow morning. My baby is turning 10. That's SO upsetting, and I don't really know why. Then I'm packing tomorrow night and working 1/2 day Thursday, to get the final stuff going Thursday afternoon, get the dogs to the "pet resort" (I kid you not), get the crabs and fish to the neighbors, get a manicure and pedicure with DD as a special "girls only" evening, and then try to get to bed by...oh...SEVEN PM because we have to leave at approximately 3:30am to get to Boston for checkin!!! AUGH!!

Oh...and snow...tonight thru tomorrow...fun fun. *sigh*

Nikki, I have to leave at about 3:30 am tomorrow - it's brutal! I'll be thinking of you Friday morning. Wait a minute! No I won't I'll be SLEEPING at that time Friday morning:p ! I'll think about you tomorrow morning when I'm doing the same thing you will be doing, ok? Actually Friday morning Randy flies into Orlando at 6:30am from Seattle so, I'll be up pretty early picking him up.

It's just snowing and snowing here! What a miserable day.

I'm going to watch the Oscar nominations in about 1/2 hour then I have to get going w/ all the things that must be done today.

Karyn

I thought we were getting down to Disney early by leaving on Thursday, but was I surprise. Looks like most of you folks will take off long before us.

Well, I'll be checking the board today and tomorrow and give my 2 cents worth to keep up the trickle on the thread. Don't know if we can make 2500 without you all, but we can give it a shot.

Good morning! -- Here's to 2500!

Safe travels to everyone, and especially those of you who are leaving tomorrow.

We are not leaving until Friday evening, so I will check in again when I can.

We will leave tomorrow morning and head for Orlando . Will be at the Polynesian till Saturday morning . See you there on Saturday

Here I am, posting one last time before we leave... I just had to tell you that we woke up to -51 outside... of course, nothing is shut down, because they haven't caught on to that idea here... who would think that when it's that cold, maybe people want to stay inside... So, do you think we made the right decision travelling at this time of year? I mean we could stay here and freeze, or go cruisin and bask in the hot glorious sun... what do you think?

take care all, and see you soon...

I forgot to mention that I received the following message from our TA last night:

"Effective January 31, 2004, DCL has implemented the following policy: All men over the age of 40 are required to wear a speedo and toque in all public areas of the Disney Magic at all times. Failure to do so will result in the ship's staff having the ability to refuse service if they so wish."

WOW! The people at Disney DO read these boards....

We will be heading down to the AKL tomorrow AM - early.

More snow today, seems like I have been shovelling all week. Bring on the sand.

Kabuli1 - we'll see you with the rays!

Off to start packing. Starting to feel the pressure. The kids are home - snow day, school cancelled.
