2 1/2 men

I guess I'm in the minority that didn't like it. I quit watching it last year, because it was the same old thing....Charlie boozing and womanizing, his brother be-moaning about something or another, and Jake farting.

I was looking forward to something new and fresh...and what do we get in the first episode? Ashton Kutcher's character getting drunk and having a three-some, and Allen making the crude comment about what he did after Ashton went upstairs with the two women. *Yawn* First episode, and already back to the same old-same-old.

I agree...and worse yet, the same old-same old was funnier with Charlie than it is with Asthon.

As a loyal fan of the show, I didn't think this one was very funny. Ashton did make it a little better (not a big fan of his) but his character seemed to me some what like a grown up Jake. I will watch again to see where it goes, but it seemed like they were trying too hard, particularly at the beginning of the show.

I am a fan of 2 1/2 men but the verdict's still out for me with Ashton. I liked the fact that Rose was the one that did Charlie in. I hope the chemistry between Allen and Warren gets better. I didn't find this premiere all that funny.

My husband and I have watched this show since the beginning. We had gotten bored in the last couple seasons repeating over and over each episode. We didn't know what to expect lastnight and good thing we didn't have high expectations. Neither one of us liked it really but hope that some chemistry can happen.

I told my husband it looks like Alan just got another son. I rolled my eyes when Ashton kept getting naked. I'm not sure that really helped anything.

I will confess that I thought all the women at the funeral were hilarious. We were trying to remember what episodes they were in.

I kind of agree with these posts. I do like Ashton Kutcher, but it seems like he plays the same kind of character in everything he does. He does seem too similar to Jake, like a few other posters mentioned. I will watch a few more episodes and see if I like it any better before I give up on it.

I was switching between this and DWTS. Can someone tell me how/why Rose killed him?????

I watched out of curiosity, but won't be a regular viewer. My favorite character was Ryan Stiles anyway. Whatever happened to him on the show?

Like most everyone else, I'm on the fence about the show now. I was getting tired of the same type of humor and was hoping it would be a little different with a new character. I was a little disappointed that it didn't happen. I was also getting tired of Alan being such a loser and an idiot. I was hoping that a new character would allow Alan to be a little more normal and not so neurotic. I wish they would tone him down a little and have him stop being such an idiot. It's getting a little old.

I think the writers don't want to veer from this, so the new Walden has to be one to get women, have money and have lots of luck so Alan can still remain the loser. They have to have someone almost the complete opposite of Alan because they still want to keep Alan in the loser role. Walden may end up being nicer than Charlie, but I think the writers will still want to have the "opposites" dynamic with the 2 characters.

There were no laugh out loud moments for me, but I will say that I laughed a lot on both episodes of How I Met Your Mother!

She never came out and admitted it, but she mentioned at this funeral that he was killed by falling onto the tracks of an oncoming subway after she found him in the shower with another woman a few days after they were married. Then Berta said something about you never cross a crazy woman, so everyone pretty much assumed Rose killed him.

He was on the show last night. Still married to Alan's ex I assume.

I loved last night's show. I think the character Ashton plays is awesome. He came in humble and I think he'll be likeable. Of course, Jon Cryer will feel inferior but he doesn't make him that way, it's just how JC is the uber opposite of him.

Loved the funeral, not half as bad as his ROAST, though!!! Now THAT was hysterical!!! :rotfl2:

That was fast! 22 minutes and it's all explained. Well, I liked the beginning til Ashton's character scared Allen. Not much chemistry with Allen yet.

That was exactly when I switched it off.

And that will be the first and only time I've watched that show.

I have all of the seasons of 2 1/2 Men on DVD. All except the last season. It was awful. But last nights show went back to its original formula! Before last night Ashton Kutcher was Michael Kelso to me. I could never see past That 70's Show whenever I saw him on screen. But last night I saw a completely different role. I was impressed!:happytv:

I loved the funeral. Seeing Charlie's bowling shirt and cargo shorts hanging up was so funny!

I felt just the opposite. I felt like he was just an older version of Kelso.

I wonder if Rose is still going to figure in somewhere, maybe begin stalking Warren?

I'm with you. I thought it was a snooze-fest. Probably the most boring 2 1/2 men I've ever seen.
I agree very boring and almost as funny as an episode of Friends  (just so you understand the best description I ever heard about Friends was six people in need of a smack in the gob)

I thought the funeral scene was not funny. I did like how they introduced Warren. There were some funny moments last night, but something was lacking. We'll keep watching and hope for better writing.

I watched out of curiosity, too. But I have seen many episodes over the years.

As long as Chuck Lorre is alive, Charlie Sheen will never be able to return.

Did anyone else catch the MAJOR symbolism of when someone knocked on the window and Alan got scared and threw Charlie up in the air and when the ashes came down, you saw Walden for the very first time? Out with the old and in with the new.

I think Walden is likable. I did not, however, like the fact that he said he loved the house and was buying it. That was too easy, the writers should have come up with something a little more creative than that.

Also, you know how Chuck Lorre always writes something after the end credits and this time it was cans? I tried to think of what that would mean and the only thing I could come up with was the fact that Charlie had been canned.

And I cannot for the life of me remember where this appeared, but I think before the show started, there was a graphic that said "Charlie who?" Ouch.

I wonder where Rose fits into the picture. And I liked the fact that John Stamos was talking about the threesome and how he and Charlie ended up...well, ended up together. That was a zing at Charlie Sheen, I think. They wanted the audience to think his character was involved in bisexuality and that was the last time he was mentioned.

I like the idea of Demi making a cameo. If they don't do that, that is a major missed opportunity.

I thought the funeral was right on. It was alot like other funerals on the show & each charater stayed true to who they Are(were)

Did anyone catch the cans at the end where Chuck L. normally puts some words?
I took it as "Canned!" (Charlie fired...)

I think it might have to do with the rant that got Charlie Sheen fired. http://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/celebrity/Charlie-Sheen--116876493.html

“I’ve spent next to the last decade effortlessly and magically converting your tin can into pure gold,” Sheen said, addressing the producer. “And the gratitude I get is this charlatan chose not to do his job, which is to write.”

This used to be DH's favorite show. So we have watched previous seasons and reruns. DH was at work, and hasn't seen it yet, I recorded it for him, so he will see it tonight and see what he thinks.

I liked Charlie, so I kind of missed him, thought some parts were sad. Like when Allen was talking to his ashes. But, I have always thought that Jon Cryer and the other actors were just as funny. I like Ashton Kutcher, haven't figured out his character yet, he kind of reminded me of an adult version of Jake. I think the show has potential, if the writing is good. I agree with PP, about it being too easy that Walden is buying the house, jmo.....so I guess now he is going to let Allen move in, because he helped him through his crisis. :confused3 Time will tell where this goes.

You don't like Friends?????!!!!!!!!!!! Now...that's just crazy talk!!!

By the end of the show I pretty much had this opinion too. Why did they have to make Ashton a new Charlie? Doesn't make sense. I had hope that he was going to be a nice guy at the beginning. I agree that the funeral scene sucked. I just liked the cameos. CBS was smart though putting it on Monday nights. Its only competition is DWTS and I know I'm completely over that show. I stuck around to watch 2 broke girls because I wanted to watch the Playboy Club after and thought it was kind of cute. Two broke girls and 2 1/2 men are kind of simular because you can really tell they're acting and they have that canned laughter that tells you when you're supposed to laugh which is fine I guess. It's what they used to do in the 80s and 90s. I think audiences have gotten used to shows like Modern Family where they just do funny things and you laugh all by yourself without having to have them play the canned laughter. I guess time will tell if this show will make it. They're going to have to get smarter with their scripts to keep an audience. Especially if they ever put anything better than DWTS up against it.

No canned laughter - studio audience. They laugh at the funny parts, so does the home viewer (usually). Modern Family doesn't tape in front of an audience, so you have to guess where to laugh ;).

Her name is Conchetta (Conchatta?) Farrell.

We watched last night and enjoyed it, but I really think the remaining cast could pull off the show WITHOUT adding ANYONE to take Charlie's place. I like Ashton Kutcher though, so it'll be interesting to see how he does on the show as the season progresses. I agree with others that said they've left it open for Charlie Sheen to possibly return. So, time will tell.

I like Ashton Kutcher, but I think the show would have been fun with Herb moving into Charlie's house.

For the record, the character's name is Walden - not Warren :). Walden Schmidt. And IMO, he's more a naive Charlie than an adult Jake. MicroSoft doesn't pay someone with Jake's intelligence $1.4B ;). And yes, I know that's just a sitcom storyline.
