2 1/2 men

Enjoyed it. I will be watching this season. Was never a Charlie Sheen fan and didn't watch it previously because I didn't care for him. When he was kicked off last season and word of Ashton Kutcher replacing him is when I decided to watch it on FX and they had marathons of the older shows so did some catching up over the summer. I think it's a nice change.:thumbsup2

Get rid of Jon Cryer. He was just trying way too hard tonight. Have Jake's buddy move into the beach house with Jake and Warren. Berta keeps them all in line.

The only time Alan is any good is when someone else is making fun of him. His soliloquy with Charlie's ashes stunk.

As a loyal fan of the show, I didn't think this one was very funny. Ashton did make it a little better (not a big fan of his) but his character seemed to me some what like a grown up Jake. I will watch again to see where it goes, but it seemed like they were trying too hard, particularly at the beginning of the show.

I totally agree with his acting reminding me of Jake. It's like he took acting lessons from Jake. All in all it was funny, I can't wait to watch next week.

I am a fan of 2 1/2 men but the verdict's still out for me with Ashton. I liked the fact that Rose was the one that did Charlie in. I hope the chemistry between Allen and Warren gets better. I didn't find this premiere all that funny.

As a huge Ashton Kutcher fan I thought I would have loved it. I guess I was alittle let down and didn't enjoy it without Charlie... I think they left the door open (for Charlie to come back if they can't pull it off without him) with having a closed casket wake/funeral. I wouldn't be surprised if Charlie isn't really dead - I think crazy Rose has him locked away.

DH and I thought the funeral was not funny. I think they were just saying mean things about Charlie to get even. I just don't like that they killed him, or that Rose did it and gets away with it.

Alan talking to the urn was nice. I didn't find Ashton funny.

I did laugh a few times, when Berta saw Ashton naked but not when they did it again with Judith, funny once not over and over again. I really didn't enjoy the show, just don't like that they killed Charlie. I will watch the second part next week and then decide if I'll keep watching.

I really enjoyed it. I agree the writers left no room for Charlie to come back and I actually liked that. I hate it when characters leave a hit show and find out life aint so rosie on the outside (pun intended) and try to come back.

Who is the actress who plays the housekeeper? I always think she has some great lines.

I guess I'm in the minority that didn't like it. I quit watching it last year, because it was the same old thing....Charlie boozing and womanizing, his brother be-moaning about something or another, and Jake farting.

I was looking forward to something new and fresh...and what do we get in the first episode? Ashton Kutcher's character getting drunk and having a three-some, and Allen making the crude comment about what he did after Ashton went upstairs with the two women. *Yawn* First episode, and already back to the same old-same-old.

I'm with you. I thought it was a snooze-fest. Probably the most boring 2 1/2 men I've ever seen.

I didn't think it was very funny, and I hope that the chemistry between Ashton and Jon Cryer gets better. I mentioned to DH that Warren seems like a grown-up Jake.

I really lost track of this show after the first season but watched last night to see what would happen (how could you not?!?!?).

The John Stamos bit was iffy, but the Dharma and Greg bit was hilarious! They should have put one or two more like that in. Same with the women at the funeral. Humorous, but could've used the more well-known actresses a little better.

Ashton Kutcher wasn't funny at all. Will need multiple episodes to decide if he's going to fit. I agree he seems to be an older version of Jake. However, as I stated in the beginning I don't really watch the show so it didn't do enough for me to watch more than 1 more episode.

Who here thinks that eventually they'll bring on Demi Moore to be the woman Ashton tried to kill himself over? Quick and easy cameo??

By the end of the show I pretty much had this opinion too. Why did they have to make Ashton a new Charlie? Doesn't make sense. I had hope that he was going to be a nice guy at the beginning. I agree that the funeral scene sucked. I just liked the cameos. CBS was smart though putting it on Monday nights. Its only competition is DWTS and I know I'm completely over that show. I stuck around to watch 2 broke girls because I wanted to watch the Playboy Club after and thought it was kind of cute. Two broke girls and 2 1/2 men are kind of simular because you can really tell they're acting and they have that canned laughter that tells you when you're supposed to laugh which is fine I guess. It's what they used to do in the 80s and 90s. I think audiences have gotten used to shows like Modern Family where they just do funny things and you laugh all by yourself without having to have them play the canned laughter. I guess time will tell if this show will make it. They're going to have to get smarter with their scripts to keep an audience. Especially if they ever put anything better than DWTS up against it.

That would be pretty smart of them. I'd watch for sure.

My husband and I have watched this show since the beginning. We had gotten bored in the last couple seasons repeating over and over each episode. We didn't know what to expect lastnight and good thing we didn't have high expectations. Neither one of us liked it really but hope that some chemistry can happen.

I told my husband it looks like Alan just got another son. I rolled my eyes when Ashton kept getting naked. I'm not sure that really helped anything.

I will confess that I thought all the women at the funeral were hilarious. We were trying to remember what episodes they were in.

I wasn't impressed with Ashton and didn't think last night's episode was funny. The opening funeral scene especially stunk. I hope it gets better. Oh and I was confused by the Dharma and Greg cameo because Jenna Elfman was on the show before but not as Dharma.

Her name is Conchetta (Conchatta?) Farrell.

We watched last night and enjoyed it, but I really think the remaining cast could pull off the show WITHOUT adding ANYONE to take Charlie's place. I like Ashton Kutcher though, so it'll be interesting to see how he does on the show as the season progresses. I agree with others that said they've left it open for Charlie Sheen to possibly return. So, time will tell.

I enjoyed it too. I must be in the minority because I found the funeral scene to be really funny. Between the women, his mother and the pharmacist I was cracking up.

I love Berta, she has some funny lines.

I haven't made up my mind about Askton's character, but he did seem like an older version Jake. I will give it a few episodes to see how it plays out.

Dharma and Greg moment was very funny!

DH and I felt about the same. The funeral and the cameos were funny, but the rest was pretty bad, IMHO. Next week is Terra Nova, so I think 2 1/2 Men will be out of the rotation, anyway.

We kind of stopped watching the past couple of years, only catching it once in a while. I think it was all downhill after Charlie Waffles, and the whole Chelsea business was really the nail in the coffin I think.

I think the show jumped the shark with the whole "Charlie gets engaged" storyline and haven't watched in a while. I watched last night and wasn't impressed; the dynamic between Alan and Ashton Kutcher's character just isn't that funny, and I don't quite see how bringing in a younger Alan (which is how the new character struck me, with all his moaning over his ex and hating his life) is going to be funny at all. I'm in the minority - I did enjoy the funeral scene, especially Rose's wide-eyed-innocent explanation of the accident in that sweet little-girl voice of hers. But I don't see how Ashton's character is going to be funny at all.

I suspect the show has lost/will lose most of its original fan base but will bring in enough new ones to muddle through a few seasons. It seems like people who generally liked Charlie's character and that brand of humor didn't care for last night's episode, while those who didn't care for the show with Charlie's boozing and womanizing are more apt to enjoy the "new" Two and a Half Men.

I think it's so amazing that people can watch the same thing and get a totally different experience. I'm glad...because can you imagine how BORING life would be if we all enjoyed the same thing.

I really didn't expect much at all...but DH and I were seriously rolling off the couch last night!! :happytv:
