Good day to all!

It is Friday, and I am getting ready for a weekend of work. Sunday I am off, and the family and I are going to DH mom's for DS's 18th birthday. His birthday is Monday. I can hardly believe he is 18 and planning his first year at college starting this fall. Tomorrow night DD and DH are baking a gluten-free cake (so that I can have some) so that we can decorate on Sunday.

Well, DH is home for lunch, and I am off! Catch up on Sunday or Monday!

Wendy

Hi Everyone!

Just popping in to wish everyone a good weekend! I hope you all have a little time to exercise and to take care of yourselves.

I lost an hour today, so something had to go. It decided it would be my walk to get the heavy Sunday paper. I sent DH to the curb to retrive the paper.

----- Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $5000 per month.

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. Now she's 97 years old and we don't know where the hell she is.

The only reason I would take up exercising is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there.

I have to exercise early in the morning before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

Hello ladies, I'm back! School work has been keeping me pretty busy. I just wanted to stop by and say Hi before I begin my paper for U.S. History, blech! All is well here, spring break is next week and I think my trips to the gym will have to be sacrificed. I would prefer to go to have some time a way from the monsters, but I don't think I can afford daycare for all three. I bought a new pair of trendy type shorts that are a bit too small, they will be my reward for losing a few more inches. I hope I can wear them by summer. Have a great week, and I'll stop back when I can.

Thank you for the wonderful chuckles. They certainly helped!

Today is the day my eldest was born 18 years ago. Hard to imagine he is 18. Doesn't look a day over 3 to me! He is going to spend the evening with his girlfriend, since we had his birthday bash last night at his Granna's. DH teaches tonight, so we did it early. Oy Vey! Amazing how fast life goes.

Now, today is an amazingly warm day, and I will take a walk outside. The dog will love it, and it will certainly do wonders for the gloom that decends on all of us that live in the midwest without sunshine for 4 months. THe sun is not out, but the warmth will certainly confuse my mind so that it thinks it is.

Did do well over the weekend on diet. Did have gluten free cake, so all that I indulged in was calories, not bad things for my health. How can you skip cake on a birthday? I don't think I could ever do it! Well, maybe if there was some wonderful brownies that were healthy I would skip the cake. :rotfl:

I hope all are doing well. Oh--WI day--not much to brag about. Added half a pound. Guess it was the cake after all!

Off to do laundry before walking!

Guys!!! I'm BAAAAACK and with a vengeance and a horrible realization!!! I stopped coming here, I tried to catch up with life (homeschooling, move to another state 2 years ago etc.) but in the midst lost focus on staying healthy. I kept saying I'd crash diet to lose 10-15 pounds and then get on the scale..but I sabotaged myself! I went today to Kohl's to pick out some capri's for spring...girls, I really thought I could squeeze into 14's!!! The last time I bought pants they were 12's and even getting loose...in 12 months I've managed to put ON 40 pounds!!! I had put on 15 before that so I'm almost back to where I started when I went for my 65 pound clippie...I need to lose 40 pounds to claim it back!!! I feel like a big fat failure (meaning it literally not tongue in cheek) but I am proud that I finally got on the scale and stopped avoiding the facts. I have been walking a lot lately and will continue to do so...I am going to have to post weekly weighins until I hit 150's..there's just no other way to do it! I'll post my first official weigh on on Monday of next week (I weighed today but am hoping a lot is water/and afternoon weighing with all clothes) but need to get back under 200...I can't believe I worked soo hard to get to Onederland and let it just go away.

I turn 40 on September 13th...so my goal is to be at 175 by then and at 159 by New Years Day 2008...it can be done and I'm hoping y'all won't mind me jumping back in here to share the journey. I love you guys and know that I can't do it without you!

Thanks for letting me share my failure and future goals!

Tara

You can do it, Tara! I'm still kind of new here (not on the Dis, but on WISH) and this is such a supportive group. Take it one day at a time.

BTW, we homeschool, too. : )

Tara so wonderful to 'see' you again!

I was 45 last Sept 14th. I feel way better now than 5 years ago. It is the life style change. And the weight loss. You can do it! Just like riding a bike, we fall off, we get back on and cover lost ground.

Go Tara! You can reach your goals!

Hi Everyone!

This not having a computer at home is really becoming painful...dh says we should have it next week, definitely. I am going to be so grateful. I have too much work to do at work, and getting here to post is problematic.

I have really fallen off the exercise wagon. I spent a week not working out. I am determined today is the day I get back on the bike, and get back into my regular routine. That goes for eating, too. Daylight savings time always messes me up. It doesn't matter when I go to bed, it's going to take about a week for me to feel normal.

Wendy -- You must be so proud to have raised a competent young adult! That is a major accomplishment.:thumbsup2 It sounds like you are doing great with diet and exercise!

Kelly -- Another homeschooler, wow, you guys are awesome! I can barely handle correcting the homework. :rotfl2: I hope it gives you great joy.

Tara-- Hi sweetie! I am so glad to see you back here! This is your thread, you are required to post!:upsidedow I know things have been crazy, but we will support you. I am the queen of setbacks, and we are going to make great progress, you'll see!

Michelle -- I'm sorry you don't like U.S. History. We all have something we just had to plow through. It will be over before you know it! ;)

Rosie -- Thanks for the giggles! :rotfl:

Jen -- What is Tri M? I'm sure it's something that reflects all your stellar qualities! :wizard:

Nikki -- How's it goin'? Are you still loving Jenny Craig? :cool1:

Melissa -- I hope you're doing alright. We are all thinking of you.

Dona -- Are you ready for more sunshine?!:goodvibes

Linda and Kathy -- How are you both feeling? I hope you are having great health!

Here's a big :grouphug: for us all. We are doing great!

Are you still taking new members? I really need to get back to the 150's. I used to blame the extra weight on the 3 kiddos but I seem to put the weight on just fine myself. popcorn:: (seem to like to eat to much) I would love to join you and help cheer you on and feel accountable to a weekly weigh in.

Hi kkc Mom!

We are always open to new weight loss buddies! Welcome:welcome: and please post as often as you would like!

Maria

The little line does go below 170! I haven't seen that happen in at least a couple of years!! : ) I am now in the high 160s, inching closer to the 150s. I am so excited! :goodvibes

Hi, kkc mom!

Maria, I hope you get a computer soon. It's such a habit for me to pop into the Net when I have a few free minutes. It would make me nuts to go w/o the computer. That, and I'm watching for free dining offers like a hawk. LOL

Congratulations, Kelly!

You are doing great! I hope to get back to where you are much later this year. I'm finding I'm not doing many things I did based on computer reminders. I need the prompts!

I also can't check in to the DIS or other sites at night, when I need the eating support. It should be soon, and I can't wait!

I did get on the exercise bike last night, so I'm going to get back on track with my exercise this week. I feel like I need a radical new plan to get me started, but I don't think I have the fortitude to commit to anything yet. Trying to do WW on my own is not really working...

I hope everyone had a great night, and has a wonderful day!
Maria

Hello everyone!

Maria, you are right, I am proud of my son. I used to joke that all I wanted was to be able to take them out in public and not be embarassed. He is a good boy, and seems to want to stay that way. I will miss him when he goes off to college.

Kelly--great job! I haven't seen numbers under 200 since my oldest was 2. That was 16 years ago. I am less than 10 pounds away. I will get there!

Not much else going on. Tonight it is trying to snow/sleet. Pretty yucky since yesterday we were at 60 degrees. Mother nature sure does have a sense of humor!

Best to all!

Wendy

Welcome kkcmom

Hi everyone. I am finally feeling halfway human again and am back full time. The play is over except for the dinner Sunday night and I think I finally have caught up on my sleep from this past weekend. Between the cast parties and the late night and the time change and then being sick it took a toll.

I have gotten up the last two morning to exercise and I hope to have some time tonight to get a yoga routine in. Tomorrow morning no since I have to leave for a conference at 5:30 tomorrow morning.

Congrats Kelly on reaching that goal. I hope I am there soon but we shall see.

Maria I hope you get a computer soon. It really is a pain without one.

To everyone else, I hope you have a great day. Will check in tomorrow night after the conference.

Hello All

Dona, good to see you are back on track after all the busy-life. Sounds like you did have some "me" time for your health. Also sounds like you have fun with the play. DS did a play with church youth group. It was a game show theme. They had fun doing it. DD is doing the 5th grade play. She is a pioneer woman. Her show is the last tuesday of this month. I am looking forward to it!

Just a bit of chatting for me today. Did go to the allergist with DS. Looks like we have our work cut out for us. All the same things we had to do before. Only now I think we have to make it a life style for him. He at least understands more than when we went thru it all when he was 5. I really like his new allergist, and his office is very efficient. DS isn't feeling very well right now, he was having crazy reactions to the scratch tests and they had to stop them and give him antihistamine and steriod lotion. So, we have to do testing thru the 10 vials of blood they drew instead. Results take longer, but at least we won't get false positives. I am going to go and tuck him in and make sure he stays quiet. DD is home for 1/2 day and will make sure he stays quiet. Her conferences went great! She is wonderful.

Looks like I have hit my babbling quota. Off to the UPS store on my way to work.

great losses to all!

Wendy

Thanks!

Last night I had a dentist appointment and had to skip dinner before the appointment. I ended up grabbing an Arby's meal at drive-thru on the way home. I have to say that it was so good! But, today I will try to bike 8 or 9 miles to make up for that meal. : ) I've been steadily increasing my bike time since I started exercising and try to do 7-8 miles/day, 6 days/week. Yesterday was the first day I hit 9 miles.

I rented the Supersize Me dvd from the library but watched only part of it so far. It looks like it's a good thing to watch if you need a push to stay away from fast food. Of course, that guy ate nothing except McDs for 30 days so his fast food intake is excessive, but it still gives some food for thought (no pun intended).

We have a weird traditional St. Patrick's Day meal. It started when my kids were little, and they still ask for it every year. We make pasta and serve it with green butter, have Italian bread with green butter, and have a green salad. Dessert is also green. It could be jello, cake with green frosting, or whatever. They love green milk (ewwww....) and dh and I have a green beer. : ) So, that's dinner tomorrow. Sounds lovely, I'm sure. : )

I have some sad weight-related family news. Diabetes runs on my dad's side of the family. That's one of the reasons I want to get to the 150s and stay there. I don't want to be diabetic, and maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle might help prevent diabetes from setting in as I age. My grandmother went blind and needed dialysis toward the end.

My uncle has diabetes and has been fighting an infection in his leg for quite a while. Now his other leg (the "good" leg) has a super bad infection and it looks like they will need to amputate that leg. They are talking about a double amputation being an option. His kidneys are not doing well, either.
