Just a quick hello to everyone. My ds's Eagle Project is keeping me pretty busy. 5 1/2 hr yesterday and another 5 hours today. Not to mention all the prep work I do so that the house can run while we are so busy(Someone has to supply the cookies and brownies). Hope everyone is having a losing week. I will check again when I can.

Hi Ladies!

The closer I get to my trip, the less interested in weight loss I am. It's sad, but true. Plus I have a killer sore throat and TOM, so that's not helping! I promise that after I get back, I will be focused on weight loss, eating right, exercise, and posting! :goodvibes

When I get back, I expect to hear about fabulous losses! I'm expecting one pretty quickly, because I will not be laying on the pink sand beach anymore, I'll be hitting the TM going for that 30 mile goal! :thumbsup2

Let's enjoy the end of summer and plan for a svelte and healthy Autumn! :grouphug:

Maria

Have a great trip Linda!

Maria, when are you going? I sure wish I had a trip to WDW in the works. With DS's senior year, we are just focusing on getting ready for colleges!

Tara--my loss is really 7 pounds, but that's ok! Gives me the incentive to be at 9! :yay:

Not much else to chat about, have been busy with work and such. I have a more normal schedule next week, where as this week I am on later and it really confuses me. After 20 years, you would think I would either get used to it, or not have to endure it. Oy Vey!

Sending lots of good wishes for the weekend for everyone. I have been doing ok on the diet. Much better than last week! But we all fall off the wagon now and again!

Hi Wendy,

We leave in 3 days for a cruise to Bermuda! We are very excited. It's a non-Disney year for us -- no flying, we just drive 10 minutes to the port and we're all set. That's what sold dh on the trip -- not having a flight after we disembark.

I promise to try to have a little restraint -- I'm only eating things I really like! :mickeybar

Maria

One last post before we leave...Everyone have a great week with wonderful losses. I'll be back on the 27th, lamenting my weight gain and ready to recommit to a new, svelte me for Christmas! This is our year, let's do it!

I'm off to cruise to Bermuda tomorrow!

Hello Everyone,

We leave for Disney in 42 days. I am so excited. I am not sure if I am going to make my goal of 20 pounds lost by the time we leave but I am okay with that. My biggest goal is to steadily lose the weight and keep working on committing to a healthy lifestyle. My DD is 13 months old and I want her to grow up confident but I also want her to think that being active is a way of life not a chore. When she gets older I plan to take her hiking. We live in NH, if we don't hike that's like a sin!! :rotfl: Anyway as for me I have lost 8 pounds now!! :thumbsup2 I take my daughter for a walk every morning, unless it is raining and there was one day where it was 85 before 8am, so we only went around our street and that was more than enough in that heat! So we walk about 2-5 miles every morning and it feels great. She loves the outdoors and all the interesting things to see and I love that I am working out every morning. I also started using the fitness center at the hospital where I work. I am on the night shift so around 4:30am I use my 1/2 hour "lunch" break to go lift weights in the gym. Not only does this help me get through the last 3 hours of my 12 hour shift by getting my blood pumping and my adrenaline going but also 3 early morning's per week I am spending 30 minutes lifting weights. It really feels good that I am working out as much as I am and my husband is starting to notice the changes and keeps giving my positive reinforcement which is great. :woohoo:

Just wanted to tell everyone out there that you are all doing a great job. Even one little change can bring about a major one. Even if you don't have time to put aside to work out just think about taking a short walk each morning or afternoon. That is how I got started and now on most days I walk 4-5 miles. But even just taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or parking a little farther away and walking into the store or work, or when your at the mall, go the long way around to get to the store you are heading for. My other favorite quick tip. If you are a TV-holic in the fall like I am try doing push-up's, sit-up's, lift free weights or walk in place during commercials. During one hour of TV you can fit in approx 15 minutes of work out time. If you do that every night you will start to see changes and you may even keep going once the show comes back on. :)

Take care everyone and keep losing!!!!

Hello all! Had a great weekend. Did work pretty hard, but that's what we do!

Well, Maria is off to her island vacation! Waiting to hear the great trip report from Linda from WDW!

We do have a small trip coming up! To Frankenmueth, it's about 4 hours from where we live. It's a small town that fluants it's German heritage. It's wonderful. My children love it, the hotel has 5 pools, an indoor mini golf, a huge arcade, and they have an outdoor shopping area within walking distance that was designed by Disney. They even put on laser show at the end of each day. Very cool!

Great losses to all this week!

Oh! Tara, had a weight loss of half a pound this last week! Yeah!!

Wendy

This week has not been the best-it was Party Week at my house. My brother and I both have August birthdays during school and it's easier to celebrate while summer's still in. I'm DETERMINED to do it this year!

Guys I have gained lost the same 4 pounds all these 10 weeks!! Enough of the insanity!!! IT's down the hatch with these pounds!!! Anyone else feeling my anguish? And ready to knock this cycle into overdrive? I leave on vacation in 3 weeks...I hope to be 10 pounds down by then so I'll have a total of 14 pounds down by the end of the summer challenge...then it's off to a Christmas challenge or Halloween....maybe shorter goals are easier??? :)

Jen! You CAN do this and you HAVE!!! So we know you have it in you...I had my cheerios this morning...I had to cut out honey nut...I just love it too much so I premeasured a serving size of cheerios and skim milk and it's not much!! :confused3 But, I'm trying to make two meals a day be under 200 calories and with 2 snacks during the day (carrot sticks/apples/cheese/nuts) my dinner needs to be under 600...so I'm shooting for that...it's all about putting less in than you're putting out...so let's get moving our bodies so it will use more fuel! :)

Wendy! YAHOO On the loss!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: That's GONE FOR GOOD!!! Where do you live? That German town sounds sooo cute! Wishing I were with Linda and Maria right now....bet they're having a BLAST!!!

Kathy!!!! :artist: Happy Birthday!!   I'd paint a beautiful picture for you if I could!!! Hope you learned the trick to birthdays...eat CAKE! :) Just kidding...how's the walking going? When is the race you're training for?

I did my walk with the dogs this morning and I'm watching my friends 4 children today..they're moving next week and she's driving to the new town to paint their bedrooms...we'll miss them so I don't mind spending a whole day with them...plus they have a baby and I get my baby fix! :)
they're here! Better run!
Tara

Okay, confession time!!!!!!!!!!!

I've shyly crept away from this thread because I was too chicken to stand on the scale!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, that changed last week. I finally stood on the scale and was shocked by what I saw! The number was about 10lbs higher than I expected - and this is after 2 months of losing weight! Eek!!

So.........based on the number that stared back at me, I had 30lbs to lose to reach my initial goal. I'll reassess my plan once I reach that goal. So, I'm now down 2lbs so only 28 to go! I wanted to be at goal weight by our trip, but it looks like that's not going to happen. But, hopefully, I'll be fitting comfortably in my size 10 shorts by then!

Thanks to everyone for posting and for being so motivational!!! We can all do this together!!!!
2lbs down..............28lbs to go!!

This thread has been very quiet this month.

I have been very busy with son's Eagle project. We have a break day today. I am taking him for a haircut and getting one for myself also. Then I have to pack and get ready for my trip with my sister. We leave tomorrow night for a long weekend in DW. We have no plans except to have tea at the GF on Monday. I know I have to buy my younger son a Yeti and my husband some antenna toppers. My older son has not told me what he wants and if he doesn't do it today I probably won't see him before I leave. He is not seeing me off at the airport since he is starting to celebrate his girlfriend's 18th birthday. He has taken the entire weekend off from work. Friday he is going with her family out to dinner. They are going to the beach and boardwalk on Sat and then on Sun he is taking her into the city to see the Staute of Liberty, Elllis Island and then to a museum by central park. (I got a couple of dvds (with the price tag still on) for my birthday)Too be in loveand young.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be thinking of you all as I walk around the parks this weekend. Will see all you guys next week.

Hi Tara! Yes, Frankenmuth is a quaint little town. It is about 1.5 hours north of Detroit Michigan. Here is a link to go to the Chambers of Commerce site. Neat place. We have gone every summer for 3 years. We also go to Mackinaw Island every summer. Great place. But you are right! WDW or Barbados would be better!

Enjoy looking!

Wendy

Pungodingy is down 5 pounds!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc YAHOO!!!! Way to go Pungo! With all the possible excuses to not lose and you DID you should be soooo proud of yourself!!! WE ARE!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

CJK....girl I am right there with you...I have been doing so well on the walking but my eating is not in losing mode so I lose the willpower to weigh...I am weighing this Monday FOR SURE! And am sticking to my plan until our vacation on 9/12....cheerios and skim milk for breakfast (measured out for a single serving)...snack is either carrot sticks/apples/fruits of some sort/nuts...slimfast for lunch..need to finish out the cans in my pantry before we go...and a healthy dinner in moderation...I'm just going to live like that until I get atleast to 169....how many days will it take??? I am making my walks most mornings...I missed yesterday but did it M-H and will walk a long walk this afternoon..plus I"m in spring cleaning mode...I hate to come home to a disorganized home so today I'm organizing all the laundry/drawers and dust bunnies will be BANISHED!! :)

I'm not getting notices when someone posts...I got 6 notices today but they were posted on Tuesday...is that happening with y'all????

Will move forward and we need to make a little noise to get these pounds off!!

Here's my pet peeve of the day (care to share your own?)...I bought a pack of Always pads for TOM...haven't used that brand in awhile (on sale) as I peeled it out of the package and was about to remove the liner to adhere them to my undergarments I was THROWN OFF by these words staring back at me (in English AND in French) "Have a Happy Period" repeated over an over on the strip....what numskull (am I guessing right it could be a man?) writes "HAve a Happy Period" on a sanitary napkin...

Have a great losing day!!!
Tara

Hi all,
I started out to read all of the back posts until I realized just how many there are! So I hope it's OK to just jump in.

I took off 40 lbs in the year after my divorce. Then fell in with a bad-eating crowd and pretty much put it all back on over the next two years. This spring I got tired of taking clothes out of the closet and not being able to wear them because they'd gotten too tight, so I started to crack down on what and how much I eat. Also moved to a neighborhood with a nice park nearby and have been out for a walk every day since early July. Happy to report that, with all these efforts, I'm *nearly* back down to my previous "low" point. Tipped the scales this morning at 196.5, which is a huge psychological milestone, as I'm sure you all know.

Previous low weight was 189, so a few more pounds to go there and something in the 140-150 range is my final goal probably (more concerned with size and shape than actual numbers.)

I figure hanging out here is probably a better bet than hanging with my other friends Ben and Jerry...

Hi Coaset Addict!

Yep, been good friends with Ben and Jerry as well! I do miss them emotionally, but not physically! :rotfl:

I am off for our short vacation. I am only 50 minutes from my exercise challenge, and I know I will hit it while gone. We walk for hours--with window shopping in between. Plus they have 5 pools at the hotel. And a treadmill!

Well, I hear the god of packing calling me. I sure wish it was the god of being thinner over night!

Hope everyone has some great plans for the final holiday of the summer!

Great losses to all!

Wendy

Yes! Come on in Coaster!! You're in the same boat as a lot of us! It's been awfully quiet around here...vacations and school starting back up but I promise we'll be there losing! I hit vacation in 10 days and am trying to get 5 pounds off by then...I've been walking 40 minutes and riding my bike 30 every morning! It makes me feel so much stronger...just need to cut the eating junk out! :) Then I should feel HEALTHY! :)

I'm running around like a chicken without a head lately, when I try to post the weigh in chart I get error messages or it takes too long to load...so if anyone has weight to post losses this week...just let me know and I"ll update it as soon as I get more than 2 minutes at the computer! :)

ON TO LOSING!! Move those bodies and watch those food choices!! We'll hit 150's!!!

Tara

Hi Everybody!

It's taken me a few days to get my bearings, but I'm back and ready to jump on the serious weight loss wagon ::yes:: . What does that mean? Writing down and planning what I eat. No eating in bed. No eating after 8 p.m. Back on the TM. This is my ease-into it week. I hit the ground running tomorrow! :thumbsup2

Bermuda was absolutely beautiful. What a lovely island. Wonderful people, great shopping, it really is paradise. :beach:

So, here's today's plan so far:

B:Shredded mini wheat w/milk
S: Raisins
L: tomato, mozarella salad
S: popcorn
D: Lentil soup
S: mini fudge stripe 100 cal cookies

I know it's carb heavy, but I have yet to get to the grocery store to replenish my fresh fruits and veggies. Next week, I will make a conscious effort to cut those carbs!

It has been quiet here this summer, but I predict we're all about to get really serious when we try to fit into those autumn clothes! :rotfl:

Tara -- I can't believe you leave so soon! I'll happily do a multi-day challenge with you to kick off your trip right. How many is it? I can hold it together for 3 weeks! :goodvibes

Wendy -- I hope your vacation is awesome! Have a wonderful time! :simba:

Coaster Addict -- You are my neighbor! Seriously, I live in Orient Heights! This is not the best area to lose weight in. Way too much yummy takeout! But we can do it! :bounce:

Dona -- Hope you had a fantastic time at the World! :stitch2: I'm already starting to think about planning our trip next summer. So far I've just worked out the number of nights at various places (WDW, Universal, relatives), but I'm hoping to put dates to it this weekend so I can start looking for deals!

CJK -- I go back and forth with the scale. When I am doing well and losing, I am faithfully weighing. When I'm not...you get the picture. I guess that's one more commitment I need to make -- I will weigh at least once a week. But not on Monday morning! :sad2: That is never the best day for me, and I think that's why I don't do it. I'm committing to Wednesdays. I will weigh next Wednesday morning!

Jen -- I hope your birthday :bday: was awesome! How old are you now? You are growing into a lovely young woman before our eyes, and we are so proud of you!

Gracer -- You are doing great! Thanks for all the encouragement. We all need it, all the time! :wave2:

O.k., Who else wants a fresh start for September 1st?! I'm taking this opportunity to pull it all together, get organized (isn't that what all the fun, new school supplies are for?!), and go for it! This is the Christmas :santa: where we get the family photo taken, don't cringe at seeing the relatives, and look forward to January 1st, because we already have a great head start on that lose weight resolution. Who's with me?! :dogdance:

Massive :grouphug:
Maria

I'm with you Maria. My doctor has given me until Dec to get my cholestrol down and I picked Sept 1st to start.

Worfiedoodles,
I just moved in May, so I haven't discovered the takeout places yet...probably just as well. It's a great part of the world for an evening walk, though! :cool1:
