A quick "Hi" to Everyone!

I've had a cold that knocked me flat, but I'm starting to feel human again. I'm really looking forward to getting back on the TM. I've been eating less, and using my weights! The Biggest Loser inspires me. I wish it was on every night!

I hope we're all up for a great weekend. Let's try to do one extra thing right each day, and then Monday we can all feel like Big Winners!

Maria

Hello to everyone! Had a crazy work week and even at one point had worked 30 hours in a 48 hour period! Yeah to 2 days off! Going to need it!
Good news is that I have stayed at my weight. Bad news is that I have stayed at my weight! Had to put off starting curves because of a problem with my fibromylagia. Really wipes you out! So, this week is much easier than last week, and the rain is still coming, but walking in the light mist ok. The dog isn't too wild about it. Trying to keep from getting on treadmill until weather is absolutely horrible. Other than not much news, there isn't much news. DS is concentrating on what colleges to apply to. We are excited about that. Although he is going to commute his first year to get the misc stuff out of the way. He wants to be an engineer. Chemical, and work at WDW. What a guy!

Well, sounds like the troops are looking for things, need to help!

Great losses to all!

Wendy

Good morning fellow losers.

Let's get started on our losing trainl and get this thread moving again. Today's plan is to walk for 45 min (not counting wu/cd) following my plan to get ready for the ATM race on Oct 8. I walked 10 Fri, biked 10 Sat and walked 3 yesterday.

Exercise is good but food could definitely be better. Need to get back to drinking lots of water also. Weekends are teerrible for water consumption. I do much better at work (maybe because it give me a valid excuse to get out of my chair).

The next couple of weeks at work will be very busy trying to get everytning done before surgery. I am more worried about the recovery from this surgery as my right are may be stabilized for up to 6 weeks. I can't write left handed and I can't take that much time off from work.

We need to get others posting also.

Have a great day.

Hi Everyone!

I just had a long post typed, and poof! So forgive me if this is short.

I'm hoping to get back on the TM today, and my eating has been good.

My goal is 5 lbs. this month, and I'm at 4 right now. Wish me luck! :goodvibes

Kathy -- Good luck with your training for the race! You are my idol. :cool1: I still want to do the Disney half, and I need to get my mileage back up. I was at 27.5 mi/wk, and I want to get there again and then go further.

Wendy -- I hope you are feeling better! Has your son narrowed his choices, or is he just looking at schools in Hawaii? :teeth:

Pundodingy -- So glad you're still here! :Pinkbounc

Coaster Addict -- Slow and Steady wins the race! :snail: You have the right idea. I get too ambitious and then defeated. Knowing this is not a quick process and committing is awesome!

Dona -- How's your foot? I hope you did go to the podiatrist and you are on to getting better! :cat:

Let's have an awesome week!

Maria

Good morning fellow losers.

Let's get moving and get rid of these extra pounds.

have a great day.

Hi everyone. My toe seems to be feeling better but my heels are tender. I must not be stretching as much as I should. I also am wearing crappy sneakers when I am in the cememtery for my son's Eagle project. I don't want my newer sneakers covered in dirt and possible poison ivy. I did get a new pair of sneakers over the weekend. I went up a half a siize but my toe has enough room to move around and I think that was the problem last week.

My eting has been okay and I have been working out this week. I even got in a small yoga routine last night.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning!

I finally got back on the TM yesterday! :woohoo: This was big for me. No coughing, and I was able to do 3 miles. It took longer than I would have liked, but I was moving!

Today I'm going to try to go just a little farther, just a little faster.

I'm also still working with the hand weights. I guess I need to have a routine. I just sort of stand there and do whatever I think of. I know that's probably not overly efficient, but it's better than not doing it.

I'm eating out for lunch, but at a healthy restaurant. They even bake their handcut fries! We're having chicken stir-fry for dinner, and I brought healthy snacks. I forgot my grapes, but I may have them as dessert tonight.

Everyone have a wonderful, losing day!
Maria

For several years there have been posts about reaching the one fifities
which isn't exactly Slimsville, but I've never seen a winners list.

Isn't there another way to lose weight beyond giving up snacks, running around the block, etc.? I have had great success with Weight Watchers and other methods.

Maybe the leaders of this thread might suggest an alternative as their systems haven't shown us much. Something new is needed or someone should slam the door as they waddle out.

If you don't like this thread you don't have to read it or write to it.

Everyone has a dream. You may never get there but if you don't dream you don't have a life. I may never get back down to 150 but I can dream. For me 150 would look thin.

This thread is to support people and life happens and we are not all perfect like you obviously are. If you have nothing positive to say (like everyone elsse on this thread) then don't come here.

Rosie....as a moderator I am in my full rights to delete your message as it does not meet the guidelines set forth by the W.I.S.H. board...but I see a bigger issue stemming here...

you need to find the JOY in losing!! How do you think we'd get over 3000 posts if we didn't find JOY in trying to reach a dream...for many of us it is a big struggle to get to the 150's! I think it is a big success to keep from going above another number....for some this thread has kept them from sneaking back above 180, 200, or higher....that in itself is a wonderful accomplishment...we are here to encourage and remind ourselves of the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle...some 150'ers are WW participants, some are Atkins followers, some are slimfasters, some are simply move more eat less....but we all got here by finding it hard to lose and this board is simply to keep our eye on the goal...There have been 150'ers who have made it and moved on....they are maintaining...go back through the multitude of posts and write to them...they are a great source of encouragment...but they never got to 150 with the attitude you have. So, here's some joy for you... :cool1: :cheer2: :grouphug: and a big hug to let you know that if you need a place to come and share your journey to 150 or wherever you'd like to be..then you are more than welcome!!!

I'm Baaaaack!!!! And ready to show my body a 150 fitness point! Our trip to England was very enlightening...not a fat person in London...you just can't find any! Unless they're all sitting in their houses and don't venture out...but you walk 10-15 miles a day in London, the food is too expensive to eat and you have some great fit bodies!! So, it inspired me to up my walking...I've been doing 2-3 miles about 4-5 times a week...but if Londoners can walk 10-15...surely I can do 5 miles more often! :) I started yesterday! I did 2 miles in the morning and 4 miles in the evening! :) YAHOO!!!!

I think if our country wants to battle obesity then they should redesign our cities and workplaces so that we're forced to walk! :) Just to go to a grocery in London requires over 2 miles walking! :) Not many have cars and it's too dangerous to ride bikes...it really was amazing, I was fit the last time I went to London and didn't really notice it...but boy it hit me being the only size 14 on the streets! :) I did run into another person that was maybe a size 16..she was from Knoxville, TN! :)

So all you 150'ers...let's make that number happen this year! I'm shooting for 5-7 pounds a month..might get 10 pounds off in October...vacation weight comes off easy...but I should be in the 150's if I keep up the walking and watch my food choices...it's all simple but we know how HARD it is! :) Bless Rosie for being cynical about the struggle...but that does no one any good..I'm celebrating that I've lost 60 pounds and kept it off for 3 years...I still have 30-40 to go but I have a GREAT attitude to do it with! :)

Can't wait to catch up with all of you! Any ideas on doing a weekly weigh in or any other suggestions to keep us making this great encouraging thread a positive way to mark our milestones?? Thanks!!!!

:sunny:

Gee, if he did end up there, I would have to visit all the time! That would be nice!

He wants to be an engineer. I really want him to commute his first two years, because emotionally my son is still young, in the sense that he is innocent? It is nice to have a teenager who is not jaded already. I think we are leaning towards Michigan Technological University for his final years, but we are unsure of the first 2 years. Hopefully Grandvalley State University, as it is only a 35 mile drive. Plus, while commuting, he is able to work and save all his earnings. His next investment is a newer car. When I went to college, I applied to one, and went there. So many choices. I will keep updates! Just as long as he secures his job at WDW when he graduates! :yay:

One more post for Rosie......while 150's may not be slimsville in your categorization...it does meet "a healthy and normal weight" for the majority of women whose height are 5'3-5'8....that was why the number was picked...150 is much healthier than 250 and is not longer considered overweight for the mean of women's heights in the US. It could easily have been called the "Weight within normal range" club...but that's much too busy.

Usually I am a mellow kind of gal, but with the post from last night from Rosy28A, I need to comment:

Weight loss is more than exercising, deiting, etc. It is emotional, especially when a life style change is involved. As proof, it is harder the older you are.

It is the emotional support, and the availability to interact here that makes a diffference for me. Yes, I could just get radical and cut it off, but those bad health habits would still be there. I am working on changing my life, not just my weight.

Yes I will continue to watch my diet, walk my dog for my heart, and buy smaller clothing. I find nothing wrong with that. As part of the human race, I am a work in progress, and will be finished when my life is done.

Ok--now on a positive note!

Still holding and enjoying life!

Thanks to all the W.I.S.H.ers!

Wendy

Good Morning! I'm baaaack! I have been lurking for some time now - glad to see some familiar faces still here. I am jumping back in the posting grove! :cool1:

I managed to get up to 215 this year...yes UP but I am now down to 180 and going for that 150 goal. Health is a big issue as my body shut down on me last month and I spent 8 days in the hospital. I am ALL about lowering the cholesterol and sodium intake.

Hey Tara, does this sound familiar....hon, I've been transferred???? We are moving to Arkansas...still in the SEC. Go DAWGS! No, not Hawgs. DH is already gone but due to health issues I'll be here through at least Thanksgiving so we are married by phone for now! :teeth:

Wendy you said a mouthful about the support here that is what it is all about!! :cheer2: :cheer2: It is a lot easier to lose when you have a support team than when you struggle alone!

I look forward to cheering you all on the journey! :grouphug: :cheer2:

Hi Ladies!

Gosh, I didn't realize we were bothering anyone with our little thread.

Well, it's been a huge help to me, so I am very appreciative of each and every one of you!

I punted on the TM yesterday. I guess my recovery isn't quite as quick as I had hoped. I was worn out, hopefully I won't feel that way again today.

Just wanted to say a very quick "Hi", and to post my appreciation for this thread. I was pretty stunned when I read the offensive e-mail. I think you are probably in a lot of pain if you feel the need to lash out and hurt others whom you've never even corresponded with. If that is going to be the tone of her posts, I hope she decides to earn her ears on other threads. If she's looking for support and encouragement, this is a fantastic place!

Hugs to Everyone! :grouphug:
Maria

Melissa!! We've sure missed your SEC heart around here! I knew once football fever kicked in and trying to avoid all the great tailgating munchies...we'd get you back! :) WAR EAGLE BABE! I am sooo sorry to hear about your health issues...nothing slams us in the face harder than an injury or health setback...Kathy, Dona, Linda, me...heck all of us have had to battle muscle/heart/joint issues...it makes you want to take advantage of the good days you have and realize how nice it is just to have a body that does what you want/need it to! I hope it all gets corrected soon...and take it easy with the move...Arkansas is a beautiful state (the farther West you go into it!) try and make it up to the Ozarks...I think Buffalo River and such...such a treat! My son is begging me to take him to that spot where the Ivory Billed Woodpecker was spotted...so if we head that way, I'll give ya a ring! Hopefully you'll be there in the New year!

Maria! You ROCK! Kathy! YOU ROCK! Dona YOU ROCK! Wendy!!! You fly like the whirlybirds! The Jen's, Linda's, and all fellow WISH'ers who know the struggle and keep helping us all stay on a good leg with where we are and push us to where we need to be...it's what it's all about!

I didn't make a walk today...I honestly tried but my 10 month old puppy has gotten way too strong and pulled way too hard today, made it about 1/2 a mile and turned around...so guess I made it a mile! :) So, I didn't give up, I hopped on my bike and rode for 30 minutes around the neighborhood...felt good to be active early. Breakfast was cheerios/skim milk, snacks today were 1/2 apple (dipped in a bit of caramel..that fall food section grabbed me!) few cashews, slice of sour dough bread, lunch was 1/2 ham/cheese and dinner was salad and pasta pesto (just 4 ravioli's with sausage) so I'm working it...just need more dark greens in there and I'd be rocking!

Off to sleep, still on England time and not getting much rest..3am is RISE AND SHINE time for me! UGH!

Let's get those pounds screaming for their ounces! :)

Tara

Welcome back Tara.

Good morning fellow losers.

Have a great day and keep moving. Remember to drink lots of water.

Morning all! Don't cha love the cooler temps and the crisp air! This is my favorite time of the year, it makes me want to hike in the woods.

Hope everyone is sticking to their plans - food and exercise! :thumbsup2 I am stuck at 180 so I am gonna try to shake things up a little bit and add a TM workout to my day.

Tara, have you gotten back on US time yet? You must thank the Tigers for croaking the Gamecocks last night... we heard the groan up here all the way from Columbia. :woohoo: HAHAHAHA! I can't stand Spurrier.
I'd love to have some company out in Arkansas...I plan on doing lots of exploring. Some new mountains to explore! The thing I loved about SC is the fact that I could be in the mountains in the morning and at the beach my lunch!

Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend! :yay:

Hi Ladies!

I was on the TM today and yesterday, and I can finally jog again. The cold is officially kicked to the curb. Woohoo!

I ate pretty well today. A bit more than I wanted to, but we'll see. Tomorrow I'll know how I did on my goal of losing 5 lbs. this month. I'll check in and let you know...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Maria

Mountains AND beach???? Ahhh, lovely! :) Let us know when you make the move to Arkansas! :)

Maria! Way to go on the treadmill! I'm getting prepped to take my dogs out for a long morning walk! Will move those muscles!

Kathy, you are soo right, I'm not drinking enough water! I'm sure that's not helping my appetite! :)

On to lose 8 pounds for October! Anyone else have a GOAL? I'm going to reward myself with fall pansies and mums if I do it! :)

Talk to you losers soon!
Tara
