I have lots of history with family members and cholestoral. I was on medication, but it bother my legs and arms so much, and I also have fibromyalia (spelling?) so it was terrible. I watch what I eat, I do way more exercise than I did 6 months ago, and I have lost weight. It is better, my ratio is better, and my triglycerides are WAY better. So, I guess it's all in my genes (no pun intended :teeth: ).

Take care of yourself while off to bring support to your friend. We are at that age that anything can happen to anyone of our loved ones.

Sending lots of pixie dust! pixiedust:

Wendy,
I too have fibromyalgia so I feel your pain (literally) Some days are not so much fun are they? I feel much better when I'm down to a healthy weight. I can't wait to get there.
Take Care, Renee

Just wanted to say good morning to everyone.

My weight loss efforts have been non-existent. I have been trying to get some exercise most days but not even always sucessful doing that. I have lost all motivation to lose weight. Maybe the exercise will have a side benfit.

Need to get ready for work. Will try to check back in later.

Hi Everybody!

Still no progress to report on the scale, but I have been hitting the TM like a fiend. 3 miles yesterday, and six the day before, plus six on Sunday. So, what have I learned from this little experiment where I'm not careful with my food but I exercise? For me, this is a great way to maintain. I can't make any headway with losses if I'm not working both food and exercise at the same time. Of course, I've always known that deep down, but who wants to admit that?! :rotfl:

After we return from our trip to Bermuda (we leave in 10 days! :sail: ), I will once again count points, and figure out how my exercise points are accumulating (without eating them!). I realized that I have to start looking up the values for foods. I had been eating monterey jack cheese sticks and assuming they were 1 or 2 pts. Turns out they're 3...not much overall, but if I undercount everything I eat...well, my lack of weight loss becomes a bit easier to understand. ;)

Kathy -- I'm really glad you checked in! :goodvibes I was wondering how you are doing. I'm determined to be able to do a half marathon some day, so I'm still working on increasing my mileage.

Wendy -- I lose the same way you do. Unfortunately, I lose quickly on top, and then it takes the bottom quite awhile to catch up. It figures, the fat I want to keep leaves, and the fat I want to leave stays just as long as it can! :lmao:

CJK -- Holidays are hard! Good job with sticking with your plan. It sounds like you are doing great! :thumbsup2

Tara -- You are the queen of activity! :hyper: I love how you have a great variety in your activities, so you never get bored. That's something I need to work on. Today's TM workout is a long walk -- to the Keira Knightley version of Pride & Prejudice. It's just over 2 hours, so I should get 7-8 miles, and I'll be smiling the entire time.

Renee -- You are on your way and doing fantastic! We are so proud of you! :sunny:

Dona -- Weighing less than you did a year ago is a big accomplishment. It shows consistency and continual effort. How's the planning for that trip coming?! :donald:

Linda -- Hope your feeling o.k., and enjoying getting ready for your DW adventure! :figment:

Jen -- How's school? Are you knee deep in activities already? I bet you are! :Pinkbounc

It's officially the dog days of summer. I ordered some pants and shirts for work, so now I have to lose at least 5 pounds. I'm happy with my shirt size, I'm easily wearing a 10-12, or medium (Did I mention I have not been blessed with an abundance of bust?! :sad1: ). I have to work on my lower half! I can and do get into 14s, but 5 pounds lighter they look good and are comfortable. Clearly I need an incentive, so it's going to be hanging in my closet -- now there's a reason to get my act together! ::yes::

Hang in there and we'll be buying cute clothes for Fall!
Maria

I feel like such a goof coming back with nothing. This summer has been absolute trash for my body. that's it. Plain and simple. I'm starting to bounce back from it. I had a measured amount of cereal (1.5 cups of Honey Nut Cheerios) for the first time in a while. I'm taking it slow but I'm coming back!! A couple of friends and I are doing a Pilates session tonight so I hope that goes well. I've got that want-to-be-healthy fire back in my belly!!!

School starts on the 23rd, but I'm already kneedeep in activities! Yearbook, work and personal things are coming up SO quickly!!! I've got something funky going on with my foot-there's a small painful bump that isn't a wart or a blister that needs to be addressed. Birthday Week is coming up too!are soon to be upon us. August 28 (mine) and August 31 (brother) My brother and I were born 2 years, 3 days apart, so we always have cake for a week and birthdays and friends for a week. We're coming up to the end of the season at my ice cream work so soon I will not have orange sherbet everyday!!!!

I've been doing okay-these past couple of days I've exercised...tennis and yesterday I volunteered at the Food Bank lifting and carrying boxes for people. That was VERY rewarding to know I helped. That's what I've missed most about the summer-I haven't had the energy to exercise! Summer was my springboard...and I've missed it due to ice cream job and backsliding, not to mention my bad Happy Mouth habit.

I think I am back for good now!!!

Morning All.

Just checking in to give you an update on my health. It has been determined that I have a "timing" issue with the electrical system of my heart (dont want to bore you with the medical lingo). I was born with this and it has just now surfaced. There are two methods of correction........medication for the rest of my life or a procedure where they go in through a catheter and fix the timing..........I am electing to do the procedure - fortunately I can wait until after WDW and DD18 going off to college. In the meantime I have been placed on meds and told I would be fine until September.

Otherwise life is just out of control between getting ready for WDW (next week - WOO HOO we get to see our DD22 remember she is a CP'er working at Epcot having a BLAST :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc) and DD18 leaving on Aug. 31 AND I am considering a career change.........too too much going on :):) but they are happy times.

I PROMISE I WILL BE REJOINING THE GROUP in September.

Congrats to all the LOSERS just making the effort is have the battle.

Long standing members - MISS TALKING TO YOU!!

NEWBIES!!!! Glad you could join on and looking forward to getting to know you.

Have a Magical Disney Day
Linda

Good Morning!

Let's all look forward to a great weekend, moving and losing!

Linda -- as always sending a copious dose of pixie dust your way! pixiedust:

Jen -- We're so glad to hear from you! Don't feel bad! You are back, and now you are ready to get going again. :thumbsup2

Are you smiling? I am, because I know as you read this you are thinking what a great group this is, and how we can do this together! :grouphug:

Maria

Oh yes! Today was one of those days, that even moving hurt. Losing weight has really helped, and watching what foods I eat. I am using over the counter pain relievers still, so I take that as a good one!

Pixie dust to you Renee!

Oh yeah! I had to go into the office today and order smaller slacks for work!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I was so excited with myself! Amazing what a pant size will do for you! Now, as mentioned, the shirt sizes can hold for now! :rotfl2: I know that's not going to happen!

Oh--I have a birthday outfit all picked out! I am 'geeked' beyond words!

Wendy

Linda, glad you have an answer, and a way to resolve it! I hope the meds are not too harsh on you! I have been on a few that really seem to make a body feel worse than it did before!

Pungodingy--I think it went easier when I started to walk a minimum of 40 minutes everyday. When I walked 20, I didn't see much, but when I was able to get up to 40, I would lose a couple of pounds at least every other week. It wasn't every week, but I pretty much hardly ever gained. Good luck!

Hey Jen! Glad to see your wonderful, upbeat postings again! I look forward to school starting, so we can get back into a better routine as a family. My children start the TUesday after Labor day. I am counting down the days, as they are, but for different reasons! :goodvibes

Great losses to all this week!

Wendy

Hi everyone. I tried to post last night before I went to bed but my internet went out just as I finished writing so I lost everything.

Linda I am glad that it is something that can be fixed. I went the medicine route since mine does not bother me all the time. Only when I am really tired or stressed or not eating right. I can now tell. Good luck with the procedure and keep us informed as to when it will be.

This has been a crazy week and a half. Ds and dh came home from camp so we are now busy working on ds's Eagle project. We spent 2 6 hour days cutting and removing overgrown shrubs from a cemetery. The shrubs have not been touched in over 10 years. THis is a very old cemetery dating back to the 1800's. THree people who are buried in here were in Ford's THeater the night Lincoln was shot. THe kids working on the project have been fasicnated with some of the dates. Especially when they see a list of children who never made it past their 5th birthday all from the same family. THis will occupy the rest of my summer. I need to go in completely covered up and keep my eyes open for poison ivy so I don't get reinfected. I am now on my second dose of steroids from four weeks ago. I am finally stopping all the itching.

I also had a p[hysical this week. FOr the first time in years my weight was down from the year before (14 pounds) but my cholestoral was up. Go figure. My doctor thinks it is heredity working against me. She has given me 4 months and we will make a decision about drugs. I am doing everything I can but we will see. I thought losing weight and exercising were supposed to help but somethings are harder than others.

I also had to go to a wake and a funeral for a husband of a friend. I went to college with her and she and I have been teacvhing in the same school district since we got out of school. I have gotten to be better friends with her in the last couple of years since we now both teach calculus and coach the math teams at our schools (she's at the other high school in out district.) He had been sick for several years but had taken a turn for the worse in the last 6 months. It still came as a shock for her and her two sons (23 and 20). She and I have both been married the same amount of years and I also have two sons a couple of years younger so it hit me really hard. I also found out the day before my anniversary last week so I think that it is why it hit me so hard.

My treadmill went out on me this morning. I had just done my first 15 minute mile and then the belt started to slip. I was going for 2 miles but had to stop. At least I got the warrenty when I bought it in Jan. time to call the repair guy.

My trip is in the waiting stage. Nothing to do but wait until I pack. THe only thing that I bought was a new suitcase. Penney's had a great sale on them a couple of weeks ago and a special 15% discount one Sundfay night. I was also able to use my son's work discount. So I got two pieces for $33. I also had a $30 gc from Mother's day so the two pieces only cost me $3 (not bad) I bought the ones that can be carried on but after this week I think that they willl have to be checked. The only other thing that I bought were my toiletries and unless I check them I think that they will have to sit home. I have to talk to my sister about what we are going to do but she and her family flew to Italy yesterday to see their college daughter who is finishing up her 6week summer program.

Well I better go. Hope everyone has a great week and I will start to check in more often.

I am finally back into the 170's. I weighed 179.2 this morning. Monday is usually my heaviest day of the week. Have to keep moving and eating reasonably.

Will check back in later. Work calls.

Congrats KAthy. I still have a way to go but I am impressed by all the hard work everyone does here.

Good Morning!

I made my TM goal last week -- 27.5 miles! I've got 6 so far this week, and my new goal is 30. We're busy getting ready for vacation, so it may be after we get back before I make that goal.

My eating is just horrible. I have to get it together after we get back. Let's just say I've done nothing to be proud of on the food front.

Dona -- Great job!

Kathy -- Slow and Steady wins the race, you are on your way!

Pudodingy -- You're making progress!

Let's have a great losing week!

Hey gang!! Whew! We're too quiet..well, me included!!! I have just let life take over and need to make a commitment to come on here atleast every couple of days and be inspired and encouraged by y'all!

For the good news! I made it all last week walking EVERY morning at 6:30 for one hour! YAHOO!!! Oh, I take Sundays off, though...and today my change was to add some speed to that walking and a bit of distance...I got up at 6:15 today, walked my dogs 2.2 miles and then turned around and did the same distance but faster! Food is my goal for this week as well..I had cheerios for breakfast with skim milk, roast beef sandwich and potato salad and I had 1/2 an oatmeal raisin cookie, I'm slimfasting for dinner because of the crappy cookie or I may just eat a good salad...I have some leftover from last night. My trip to London is 4 weeks away and I really have to get 10 pounds off or atleast walk some inches off this body! :)

Maria!!! 27.5 miles!!! That is AWESOME!! That sounds like a great goal!!! I am going to get that pace this week, are you tired on some days? Sunday just hit me like a brick from taking no days off...I'm hoping it gets better and I do need to cut out the diet cokes and sub in water...I'm sure that will help...but this week if all goes planned I should be able to get 30 miles in this week...3 miles at son's 3 football practices and 3-4 miles each morning except Sunday. I'll think of you if I wake up and say no...actually guys, I highly recommend getting a puppy. Now that she's used to walking every morning and my older dog...I get a wake up call exactly at sunrise every morning and they are RELENTLESS...they want to WALK!!! :) So I'll do it for them on days I don't feel like doing it for me! :)

Kathy!!! I'm going to send you a PM!! Look for it!! :) CONGRATS on getting the 170's!!! THAT IS AWESOME!!!!

Wendy!! Those pounds and inches will make you feel GREAT trying on once clingy clothes!!! I'm sooo proud for you!!! Keep it up! You're exceeding your goal!!! Do I have your weight loss updated right???

Pungo!! My tips for wanting to see the scales move are easy....move 30 minutes a day where your heartrate is above 130-140 or at your training rate...cut out refined sugar products for a week....stick to whole wheats or grains instead of white flour products...and don't eat past 7pm...that will get that scale moving!! Anyone else with some tips??? I know what to do, it's just hard sticking to it! :)

Linda!! Keep us informed on the date and procedure...you'll be in all our thoughts!!! I sure wish I had you here to housesit Cady when we go on vacation..how about we trade, I'll take Cody and you take Cady when we travel?? :) So great to see you knowing some answers and moving forward!!

Jen Jen Jen!!! You've got that FIRE :sunny: in your belly and it's not craving jelly, you'll soon see tight muscles because you know how to HUSTLE! YOu will make this the year you'll never forget!!! You can do it!! You'll feel much better having the extra "material" off and just envision yourself next year wearing all the cool summer stuff...while it's on sale now go pick out a DREAM outfit!! I mean it ! Go do it now! :) You're a CHAMP!!!

Renee...you are a soldier! Losing weight and fibromyalgia! You are a CHAMP yourself!!! How has your day been? Smile at yourself in the mirror today for me, heck EVERYBODY, when you go to the mirror today, imagine all the 150's team waving frantically behind you saying "YOU CAN DO THIS!!! You're A CHAMP!!!!"

Hope I didn't miss anyone! I skipped the scale today because yes TOM is at my door again! I get 17 days between cycles, I guess at 38 menopause will hit me early as quickly as I'm going through these cycles!

LEt's get the losing commencing!! :)

Tara

Thanks for the ideas to jump start the weight loss, but I have a question (that you may or may not be able to answer!) I have IST and am on meds to slow my heart rate down, so I usually cannot get my heart rate up (and if I do, I'm working against the meds), so, is slow & steady ok???

Pungo! I would definitely check with your physican who prescribed the beta/calcium channel blocer...he'll probably say something like this..."Start out with 15 minutes of non-strenuous exercise...a steady walk with no hills..." If you don't experience any episodes of fluttering or chest pain, then increase it about 5 minutes a week....start our 15 minutes 3-4x a week then increase to 20 the next and hold there for 2-3 weeks. Let your body adjust to the changes and see if it responds well. Drink plenty of water, too! Let us know what he says...you'll feel better hopefully by starting a heart healthy exercise!!!

Tara

Hi to all

A quick HELLO AND GOODBYE!!! Off to WDW to see DD..........Will be back soon and then it will be time to start moving and losing!!

Keep going - I will catch up!!

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Good morning everyone.

Since I am another year older it is time to get serious about getting this extra wieght off. My PCP told me yesterday, if I could figure out this weight loss issue, let her know and she could become wealthy.

To start off on the right foot:
Breakfast: peanut butter and honey sandwich, 90 cal light smoothie.

I have to get this weight off. None of my clothes are fitting confortably. Exercise alone is not doing it.

Have a great day everyone.
