14 Happy Meals? Really?

That depends on how considerate you are to others, I guess. Ordering 14 happy meals is probably going to hold up the line a bit, wouldn't you think? And since we are on the topic, if you are order 14 happy meals, wouldn't common sense dictate calling ahead with your order?

Going inside there is more than one line, and others inside can choose another. In the drive through, there is just one line.

If I had a large complicated order, I would go inside.

You can call ahead at McDonald's? Really? You'd have to time it perfectly, since the french fries only taste good for a nanosecond after they're cooked. With Chinese food or pizza you can order ahead and get there 5 minutes late and it's still good.

I don't think that people in the drive thru are more deserving of short lines than other people.

What is it about McDonalds that brings out the crazy in people? I had a similar thing happen to me. We have that same set-up, where two ordering lanes merge into one paying lane. Well, one side usually is more backed up than the other, because for some reason, sometimes people don't understand that they can order at either one. So I drove around to the shorter lane...and got SCREAMED at by a women further back in the other lane about how I should wait my turn and it wasn't fair that I was cutting the line and blah, blah, blah. She literally scremed at me from her car a few cars back in the other lane. So I was supposed to wait in the longer line just because everyone else was too stupid to use that one?

I'm heading to Roncalli on Thursday...I hope I don't find that McD's!! :rotfl:

I'm LOLing that this thread is 17 pages........

OP you can bet if I was ordering that much food for that many people I'd be using the drive thru. There is NO way I could get that food out to my car after ordering it......
Why didn't you just go inside for your Diet Coke? That would have taken only seconds, and you had to go inside to get it from the gas station......

I'm not following what you're saying.:confused3

That's a line from a song in Pocohontas. (there's a typo in there so it looks weird) But I really don't get how that line has any relevance to this discussion.

There is no relevance, other than to tell us to stop being judgemental, hateful people. Based on other posts the poster has made they seem determined to make the DIS a happy, lighthearted, judgement free place.

I thought so. But I didn't want to be judgemental.

If I had to order 14 HAPPY MEALS I would go in! Folks r inconsiderate ordering multiple folks orders!!:goodvibes

I don't understand what you mean. You would rather have 14 individuals wait on line? I would think it would be quicker having one person ordering multiple orders instead of everyone ordering their own meal.

....I guess that I'm in the minority here....am I the only one thinking about the REPERCUSSIONS of eating 14 [cr]appy meals....my poor bowl....:scared:

wow 17 pages? LOL!

Anyway, I think it makes sense for the person to order 14 happy meals thru the DRIVE THRU. As someone else mentioned, how would you get all 14 boxes back to your car? Makes more sense to go thru the drive thru.

In line. :rotfl:

Now, can someone throw in a snowflake so I can hit my DISboards Bingo on this thread? ;)

Ok lets say about 4 or 5. Once you get into double digits, you are done. I do find it interesting, because I am trying to figure out who would be buying 14 happy meals, or 14 of anything, especially since not too long ago there was a thread about how people would refuse to pick up lunch for people at work. I have to say that I have never in all my 40 something years had the occasion to order 14 meals at place that has a drive thru. So does that answer your question?

So, 4 or 5 orders per car is the rule?

Good to know. So, it would have been ok if the woman had enlisted her DH and somebody else and taken 3 cars through the drive through? Car 1 and car 2 order 5 happy meals each and car 3 orders 4 happy meals?

That philosophy actually takes longer due to each car having to put in their order and each car having to take the time to pay. It is quicker for one car to do one order and one payment.

But I will remember "the rule" next time I have a large order. I will make sure I bring several cars to add even more time to the drive through. :rotfl:

Why bring several cars? :confused3 If you have the personpower to carry the fourteen meals and drinks - which obviously you would with three adults - take one car with three adults and go into the store to order.

It's not just the 14 orders. That customer then went on to ask - if I remember right - IF McDonalds has fries, and about chicken sandwiches (products?). Never mind that this information is on the menu board ;) it delayed the other vehicles in the drive-thru unnecessarily. Again, with gas fast approaching $4 per gallon, this seems to indicate a lack of consideration - for one's own finances (although if this order were for a daycare or similar, gas is likely a business expense) as well as other customers'. Especially on a lovely day like yesterday, leaning out the window and telling the driver behind you "I have a really large order" at least gives them options.

Which brings me to how the OP heard that other drivers order. I don't know why anybody is mentioning the scratchy speakers :confused3 You're allinvoking technology where none is required. She simply had her window open in preparation to order and heard the other customer's order through the air space between that vehicle and hers.

Simple science. Sound travels.

If somebody's budget is so tight that they are worried about using gas while idling in the drive through, I would think they would be prudent and park their car to go inside. They wouldn't want to take the chance that there is a mess up on an order in the drive through.

Personal Responsibility.

For those that insist that the drive through is for the convenience of the express order and that everybody else should go inside, just as many people can say that in reality, the drive through should be a convenience for large orders so as not to impact employees having to help you bring the orders out.

It can go either way. Until there is a sign that says "express lane", then large and small orders are allowed. One always has a choice and should make a decision whether they want to go inside and chance the lines or if they want to go through the drive through and chance the lines.

Personal responsibility.

I'm pretty sure they can package the meals/drinks to get them to your car, or you can make a couple of trips back inside to take the items to your car, or if you asked, I'm sure an employe could help you.
