If somebody's budget is that tight, they probably shouldn't be ordering soda from a restaurant, period. GAS IS ALMOST $4 PER GALLON! it's not about individual budgets. Do people really care so little about this that they're willing to waste their and other drivers' gasoline idling in the drive-through lane? The example in the original post is especially egregious - not because the customer ordered fourteen Happy Meals, but because they then went on to ask questions about the availability of additional items: "do you have fries?" (really?)


The OP was fortunate in that she heard this interaction and was able to get out of the line and go somewhere else. The drivers behind her? Not so lucky.
It's not about an individual's budget.
