11/26/2011 EARLY Bananahead reunions cruise

Greg,
I bet nobody ever askes you for encouragement about their fear of flying:lmao::lmao:

My friend who si a pilot for a major airline in CA told me its not even considered turbulance until their coffee cups hit the ceiling:scared1:
They just turn n the seat belt sign for the wimps in the mani cabin so they wont get sued.;)

Kathy

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I've been trying to decide which type of airplane to fly the family on to Barcelona next year for our Mediterranean cruise. I would really like to fly on that new double decker Airbus A-380, but its so new I'm not sure if I trust it yet?

I havnt a clue what type of airplane we w ill be flying to Barcelona on either.
I do know all the over seas flights are much larger planes for what i have seen on line. So thats good.
For now DCL is booking our flight which costs more but if we are late they will wait for us or fly us to the next port. Since we arrive the day of the cruise in Barcelona I dont want to take any chances.

However Greg is thinking of booking it himself, with the money we would save it would probably just about pay for an upgrade to business class which is what we want to do. I have been saving extra for it. He wants ot book the same flight DCL puts us on . He figures others will be on it so they will wait for us reguardless. But we wont know about airfare for quite awhile.
Tough decision for us. DCL uses Delta and American a lot.

Both are good airlines.

Hard ot know if you want an OLD but trusted plane that might be getting worn out or a new one that may not have all the kinks out of it yet??
I am NOT even going to think about that or I will be on a slow boat to Barcelona instead of flying.:lmao:

I've never had the cruise lines book our airfare before? We've always flown in the day before, so I was never worried about missing the boat.

Where we will be flying into Barcelona the day of the sailing maybe I'll have to check into airfare through the cruise line?

I always purchase travel insurance though that covers us for just about anything that can happen while on vacation.

Wish we could arrive the day ahead of time but cant get that much time off.
We will leave early to take one day to fly to Florida, then rest that evening and fly the next evening to Barcelona, so thats already an extra day for us.

For this trip we have travel insurance too,. Never bothered with it for just regular cruises.

The sun is out but the ice on the driveway is still frozen solid.

I guess 6 people here have frozen water pipes. They wernt smart enough to let the water drip:lmao: I was born and raised in this state and lived on Mt. Bachelor in Bend near a ski resort, I know about cold and freezing pipes!!

The host here calls me an OLD country gal ;) Just because when something happens I know what to do and it doesnt bother me. Some of these people dont have a clue what to do. I do sorta feel sorry for them but when they predict in the teens you should know to drip water or wrap pipes, something??

Oh well, nothing i can do about their problems. The hosts will help them and tonight they will probably freeze up again.

Later,

Kathy

Oh boy! Frozen pipes aren't any fun!

Yeah, you've gotta know the secrets of living in subzero temps to make it through winters around these parts!

We just got back from our 3rd Christmas party so far this month.

I really enjoy this time of year with all the family gatherings, parties and Christmas music. Its been snowing here that past two days, so its really added to the Christmas feeling. :cloud9:

Nicole just made me a nice cup of hot apple cider and brought it over to me here by the fireplace. Janel bought some really neat apple ciders that have different flavors....this one is hot apple pie and it sure is good. :lovestruc

I bought the kids a gingerbread house kit while I was in SLC a few weeks ago and we're going to start putting it together.

I'll check back later......

Those kits are really nice, fun for kids to do .
I have done them before too. They have one of a train too. Its cute.

Down to 22 now and heading for 14 by morning. We dont even get any pretty snow just the cold. Although now they are saying maybe freezing rain friday evening.:sad2: Glad I am not driving in it.;)

Have fun the the decorating.

I need to type more receipes for my DD.

Kathy

Whew! What a night!

I got Janel's and her sister's airfare bought for their flight down to Pasadena to the Rose Bowl, but then Chayce decided he wanted to go....so I booked another ticket for him.

I let Chayce go in my place because he's more excited about going then I am.

I just finished getting their car rental taken care of.....now I'm headed to bed. :faint:

Greg you'll be an expert at booking airlines after this and your cruises:lmao:
Maybe you should be a travel agent?? Then you could look at airline web sites all day long:woohoo:

Have you thought about where they are going to sleep?
You didnt mention a hotel. I imagine they fill up fast every year in the area.
Maybe they can just stand in line all night wating for the game like some do.:thumbsup2

Well everyone it was 14 this morning and is suppose to be down to 11 tonight:eek:
Friday later it will be freezing rain and then regular rain on saturday and sunday with highs in the 40's and lows in the low 30's.

We are going to need propane by the weekend for sure. I hate buttoning down the Rv to go get propane. Such a hassle but I will have to do it. I got spoiled when we went almost the entire summer without having to get some but we got propane the week after we got home from our cruise last month and already getting low again. Dumb cold weather!!

I think I will throw some sirloin steaks in the slow cooker today with some seasonings and let them cook all day until they fall apart nice and tender.
Plus the slow cooker will help keep the kitchen area warm.:goodvibes

Back later everyone,

Kathy

Holy crap!! :faint:

I started dialing Ticketmaster for Rose Bowl tickets as soon as they opened at 8am and also tried to book it online and when i finally got through at 8:11am all the tickets were gone!

I ended up going through a ticket broker to get the extra tickets, but it ended up costing me $300 per ticket! :scared1:

My BIL said he's still working on his end to round up those extra tickets for us, so if he is able to get them I should be able to re-sell these tickets pretty easy.

Travel agent huh? That's funny because I used to be one! :lmao: I actually still have my IATA card, so I gets discounts on a lot of things still.

Afternoon:

Ok, I'm just hoping to make it home from work tonite.....with all this crazy weather they are calling for,. We are getting snow, rain, thunder tonite?? Oh well......

Other than weather, not much is going on here......just getting all my details together for xmas eve and xmas day dinners....

Christmas eve: my ex-(Wally) and his family
Christmas day: my family....
thank goodness I have off the next day.....as I will be in bed till noon!!

Well have a good one all

denise:banana:

Woohoo!

I was able to get a hotel in Pasadena on the parade route just a couple of miles from the stadium.

I called yesterday and everything in Pasadena was sold out, but I called back today and they had a cancellation! :woohoo:

Hi Denise! Be safe!

Howdy Denise,
be careful driving. It is terrible all over the place.
Friday evening we will get either snow ro freezing rain or rain? What a safe prediciton the weather man made huh:lmao:
I hate the bitter cold we are having. Last winter was a bad one so this year should be more mild right? I wish!!

I have some beef in the slow cooker today. It helps to heat the place some and will make for a quick HOT dinner when Greg gets home tonight.
My potatoes are cooked, just need to reheat them and the peas and we are all set.:thumbsup2

catch y'all later,
Kathy

You are a very lucky guy. Hotels close to the stadium are impossible to find. its been on the news here about it. Still a few plane seats but they also chartered some extra jets for locals through AAA to help out.

Hi Kathy,

I guess great minds do think alike.....I've got a roast in the slow cooker also.

It smells really good! :thumbsup2

How your daughter and mother doing?

Rachel is not as paniced as before. I gave her lots of tips that i learned for feeding Greg and now that she feels she has a way to help she is thinking more clearly. If you feel you can take control of a situation you dont feel so desperate and then wont dwell on the worst that could happen like the doctor did with her. Her attitude really counts when battling this disease.

My mom is still with us but its hour to hour any more. my brother saw her yesterday and said she has a large crease across the top of her eye brows like she fell against a shelf and hit her head. She is not suppose to walk anywhere on her own, but it does happen. She is sneaky:lmao:

So nobody knows what happened and she doesnt remember. She appears to be ok with it, although we expect it to looked bruised soon.
You can still make her smile and laugh and she wants to see pictures all the time now when she gets visitors.
Her heart just keeps beating and by all medical reasoning it shouldnt be.
She was alittle more fuzzy mentally yesterday but she said she felt good.

If our weather clears some I will go to visit her soon. I am making out Christmas cards today and will mail her one. She loves to get mail.
My kids are sending her a card too. So that will be nice.

I was reading the literature Dan left for me from Brookstone and she fits all but a couple of the signs for end of life. 3 weeks ago she didnt show as many.

But as long as she is happy and not hurting I am glad she is still with us. I dont want her to get to stage 3 Dimentia. That is just no way to live. There is no quality to life then and she is getting very close to that stage.

I really hate the helpless feeling of not being able to do anything for her accept visit when i can. It hardly seems enough considering all she has done for me over the years.

Greg,
how cold are you guys today?
I think all our weather is from this one big storm and after we get it, it curves around to you guys and on across the U.S. to Denise and others.
I guess my chanting is working pretty good.

I did get a good one over on my brother today and will get my other brother after work.

I called Dan ( he just turned 65). I told him on the news they have been saying we should all check on our neighbors and the elderly so I though I should check on the elderly so I called to see how he was doing in the cold.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

ZINGER!! That got him good:lmao:

Kathy

What ever they are, don't count on getting paid off when we WIN. Shell fudged on us last time:rolleyes1
Gotta keep an eye on that gal and Mutt too.;)

Man, my reputation runs far and wide ...

OK, gotta start thinking about the perfect wager. I'm gonna need da Mutt for this and his evil mind.

That cracked me up about calling your brother to check on the "elderly". :rotfl2:

I'm glad to hear your daughter is feeling better and learning how to treat and control it.
I understand what your talking about regarding being glad your mother is still with you, but not wanting her to get to stage 3.
If very heart breaking watching someone you love go through that.
We don't want them to leave us, but in the same breath hope they don't have to suffer long.

Hey the Wild Woo of the West has appeared and her Mutt too:lmao:

I thought we scared you off.

You get Mutt to help and I'll get Jimmy too.
Just no more banana flavored goodies, they were just too tough for us old folks to chew up. No matter how long i boiled them:confused3

I am also going to call my other brother who just turned 60 and pull the same gag on him. I owe him big time for past pranks:lmao:
Revenge is sweet, sometimes;) I love being the youngest:lmao:

Jeff,
are you home yet?

I didnt know if you were coming straight back from the cruise.
Cant wait to see some photos and hear all about it.
When you get the time I did post a trip report on the Dis forum.
I put alot of photos in it.

Hope you all had an awesome time!!

I have been freezing thinking of all the nice warm places you were at. If we could have gone this week I wouldnt have froze at all.;)

Kathy

Hey Kathy -
We had a fantastic sailing. I'm still traveling though - in NYC on biz this week - so no time to download pics yet. We upgraded to a suite at the port and that was great and the weather was absolutely perfect once we left PC. Key West was beautiful. Grand Cayman perfect temps and warm water. Cozumel same thing and CC was gorgeous most of the day - a few clouds rolled in mid day but went away quickly. Days at sea were warm and the seas were calm the entire trip. Already feels like it was months ago. We booked a few more sailings including the Dream sailing that Brantley has booked. We may have to cancel our August Dream trip so we wanted to get a date that would work for us for sure.

Hopefully I will have some photos to post later in the week or next week.

Jeff
