Hello,

I have not posted in a very long time. Just wanted to find out more about a waitlist question.

My family is getting together at WDW from Dec. 7-Dec. 14th and we originally booked at SSR. Dh, dd, ds and myself are meeting my parents and brothers and their families. We are using :1- 2br, and 2 Studios. On May 14th I called and asked to be put on the Waitlist for VWL. Today I rec'd confirmation that 1 of the Studios has come thru - woohoo!!!! (This reservation was originally only for Dec.7-Dec 9, however) I did not receive a phone call from MS only a letter.

I have not heard anything about the other studio and the 2br. We really wanted to stay together, so do I call and ask why it wasn't all put through together or wait it out. I noticed on the DVC member website that the original reservation for the 1 studio at SSR has been cancelled. So now if the other rooms don't come through my family will be split up. Yikes what do I do!!!

I don't know if you can make multiple room waitlist requests in an "all or nothing" kind of request. Even if you can, I'd say your chances of getting all three villas at that time at VWL are extremely remote.

I'd try to re-book the VWL studio at SSR and enjoy the trip from your home base. I just don't think there is a real good chance of getting the other studio and the 2BR at VWL for that time period.

That's what I'd do. YMMV. :)

I guess I agree with Granny...(but part of me thinks that you'll be OK, waitlists do come through, even at VWL, even in December.) If it were me, even if I had to borrow the points, I would book an SSR studio, keep the VWL studio...and wait until a date that I could live with, to see if the other 2 rooms came through at VWL. I am assuming that this VWL studio is booked for the entire time you want. If you haven't gotten the entire time, then I wholeheartly agree with Granny! I am also assuming that some of the original SSR points are current use year and could be banked into next year to "replace" the ones you borrowed when the other rooms come through. I have a complicated point history as you can guess.

Have you been to SSR in December? The nearness to DTD is a plus, there are many community groups that perform at DTD and there's lots of holiday spirit in the air.

I hope you get what you want!

Thanks to those who have replied. I did not think of things that way. Here is another gamble I have. The reservation that did come through may eventually be cancelled anyway. My brother and his family may not be able to come. I have told them to let me know by the end of July so I can actually bank those points. But knowing my brother he'll say he's coming and end up cancelling. I guess I could just sit it out for now and see what unfolds. If they end up coming ... good for them they can stay there then we can get to see what the wilderness lodge is like, since we have not been there yet.

Mary Ellen...good luck to you. Both on your waitlist fortunes and your brother.

I'm afraid that I haven't had as much luck as others with the waitlists...I've only tried twice and got nothing either time. So my advice is admittedly biased.

And there are many, many stories here of people who have been left holding the bag by family members who just don't understand that cancelling DVC trips is not like cancelling a hotel reservation. Please make sure your brother knows what he will be doing to you if he cancels out at a late date.

I hope everything works out for you. :)
