09/28/2002 Cruise

Well guys, guess what--my very introverted husband says he will consider going on some tours with other people! Amazing--last year he would not even go to one show with me or go to wine tasting etc. I had to go to the few things I did alone; and since he insisted on not bringing a sports jacket, tie, etc we ate at Topsiders for 5 nights. This year he will bring a sports jacket and he bought snokeling gear for us both and wants to learn how to do it and like I said is reading up on tours and may do some. My vote is the jeep tour in Cozumel. Although I would prefer the dolphin swim--Disney only offers the encounter--I rather do it some place other than Mexico in case we are delayed; Nassau would be fine, etc. The horseback riding seems a good choice too, but I have a little fear of horses since I was thrown at 10 and the horse chased me down after he threw me. Also the beach thing on your own sounds good and the state park in Cozumel sounds good. I can not get excited about getting in with stingrays, but I know I would not be afraid! If JOhn wants to, we will do this. So gang, I guess my super interverted husband will be social and let me stick the decals to a tee-shirt and meet with us all at 8 and go to brunch. I would have gone anyway and he probably would have joined me but have been real nervous before. Really this guy is so introverted it is a miracle I married him. Chloe and I are super-extroverted; Sam my golden retreiver is afraid of people like JOhn; Babe my Siberian Huskie is like Chloe and I - love s meeting people. So this will be interesting to see John interact with so many people. He did well when we went to China to adopt Chloe--there were 13 babies adopted in our group - some single Moms and some couples. He interacted fine, so he will probably do fine now too. He would kill me if he read this, but all be advised this guy is SUPER SHY! Thanks for making this cruise so much more enjoyable for me. I knew once I met you all I would not have to be alone doing things! I really enjoyed the cruise, but my husband would not do any activities and though I loved the beach, the only time he would go was Castaway Key because he had no other choice but stay on board and then he loved it.

As Rikersmom stated, we hope to get a few folks to help out with making the reservatios. My plan is as follows: Friday at the Raddison I will have a final count. (Right now it stands at 32) Assuming one person can reserve a table for 6, this would mean I would need 5 tables for 6 people, and 1 table for 2 people. SO... I need a total of 6 people on the reservation line. Of the 16 couples attending 10 are staying at the Raddison. So I hope to get enough volunteers to help out. My sister and I count for 2, I believe Papa, and @GoofyNut, have offered their help.Another 2. That leaves 2 more volunteers. I really don't think it will be a problem. NOW....whether Palo's will say ok to this is another story. We will just have to give it our best shot.

No documents here either. Last cruise, I never got them until about 3 weeks out but those were through DVC. This time I'm using AllSeason Travel so guess I'll just play the waiting game.

Ave I will be glad to make some of the reservations for Palo if you need me.

Turned the AC off since it is cooler. I hate being stuck in the house with the AC on, but when it is so hot don't have much choice. Since we are moving both sons into college dorms this weekend, hope the weather stays cool.

I'm just back from dinner with my brother, his wife and their daughter. We went to "The Bubba Gump Shrimp Company", in downtown Charleston. It was great! This is the last group to be leaving Charleston, after a week of company. It was great fun, and I am sad to see them go!

NOW....I can consentrate on the cruise!!! No docs yet, maybe tomorrow. Since I have not gotten them maybe I'll get a phone call instead (with an offer of an upgrade???)

13 days until the NASCAR Race at Darlington! Any other race fans? DH plans to spend Sunday in Key West looking for a place showing the race!Maybe ESPN will show it?

OK...it's now 39 days and I know some of you are waiting.........

Is your DH going to the race? Both my husband and I are into NASCAR. When my DH was in the service he went to a lot of the races, that was before it became so popular. Now the heat would kill us to sit out in the sun all day to watch a race in the summer. We need to do a night race or the Feb/march races. I have a tentative 4 day cruise booked (secret porthole) for 2/9 and then plan to do Daytona 125's on the Thursday when we get back. However, we are debating about doing the DVC members cruise, even though it is more points/cash. Still have several days to decide.

Glad you enjoyed the visit with your family.

Nancy, yes we are going to Darlington! We went last year and had a lot of fun. The year before DH went with a buddy of his.
THIS year we are going with his buddy, and buddy's wife! Now I'll have someone to shop with!
We are Mark Martin fans, and would love to see him win the championship.DH's DREAM trip is to go to speed week in Daytona. I DO like racing, but if given the choice of a week in Daytona and a week on the Magic........there is NO contest!
Maybe we will go one day either when the kids are older, or if the in-laws will mind them. I can't imagine trying to keep a 8 and 10y/o happy/entertained at Speed Week

TwinAve- I too will help with Palos. Will see you at the Radisson on Friday night. WE were thinking of "running" over to Magic Kingdom or Epcot. We have annual passes so want to get as much use out of them as possible!! Anyone elso going to be there that night? Then again, we may be so exhausted we will just want to get to Radisson and sleep. Ha, who will be able to sleep with the cruise the next day?

Mary--- We live within three hours of Dover and Pocono raceways and haven't been to either of those races. The older I get the harder it is to sit still in the heat, so that is why we haven't gone to a race. However, for the June Dover and June Pocono races the weather was great. I keep telling Norm we should do the Sept Dover race, maybe next year. If I keep that 2/9 cruise, we can do a little of Speed Week the 125's before going home. I priced the Daytona 500 packages and they are a little more than what I want to spend right now. I agree with you that I would rather spend the 7 days on a cruise. Enjoy the weekend race, I'll be watching from the comfort of my sofa.

If Beth decides not to do Capt Marvin, we might take the spot. Keep me posted.

Cooler weather here, so I'm off to take my walk.
