Hi everyone - first off welcome to Ginny! This is a great group and we love to see new people joining us.

Well the good news is I got to have my chemo this morning! Who thought I would be happy having chemo. :) White blood count went up a little but still low so when I get it taken off on Wednesday he's going to give me a shot to help boost the white blood clot. Also spoke to him about the cruise and if we don't finish up before then taking the two weeks off for it shouldn't be a problem.

HOORAY, Mary. I am so happy that things went well for you...we can't do the cruise without you, so good news all the way around!!
Thank you for the greetings!!!

I'm looking forward to meeting ya'll! :)

Ginny

Hi, Ginny, welcome to the group! This is a great bunch of
I am new to the member cruise group, and so excited to be going on this one!!! WOO HOO

Long day today at work...so tired...need a vacation...so less than 9 weeks, I think I can make it!

It is another beautiful day here in PA, no humidity, nice breeze and temps in 50-60 range at night...unbelievable. This is my ideal climate, but a first for PA...usually we have weather just like Florida, only not as hot, but humid UGH.

Susan

You won't believe this...you know how a toddler will be found wandering the streets and it is on the news and you think...what fool would be such a lazy good for nothing to not know their child was outside of the house?????

Well, blush blush, I had Cameron over who is 2 and he doesn't talk much, well he talks a lot, but it is just baby talk...and Makayla who is 4 was playing with him in our little grandkid room upstairs. My daughter Kelly (Makayla's mom) and I were in my room on the bed looking on the laptop and talking...Cameron kept coming in and saying "bye bye" and then he would laugh and run into the kids room with Makayla and slam the door...over and over and over...

Well, the door bell rang and the dog was barking...Kelly said, I am not going to answer the door, let dad get it...dad was in the basement...it rang and rang again...I said, Kelly go get the darn door...OK...

She came upstairs white as a ghost..."Oh, my God, it was Cameron...he got outside and was ringing the doorbell"....I nearly had a heart attack!!! He could have walked away or anything...he doesn't talk or he would have yelled, "Grandma let me in"....Kelly said, let's not telling anyone...well, I told everyone or else Makayla would have blabbed it...

So, now I lock all the doors when they are in the house...

I am a bad grandma.

Evening everyone!

Glad to hear you had a great day Mary with getting your chemo and all. That is one more session down.

Welcome to Ginny!!!! :yay: Glad you joined in.

Thanks to all for the prayers about my Grandpa. It is so appreciated.

Susan - you are not a bad Grandma, kids are just quick. But I am sure it was scary for you. Glad everything turned out ok.

Silly question . . . Is AKL the only one with a conceirge level? And what exactly is that? :confused3 Not to seem, duh, but I have not really heard about this. And that is the only one I see right now with one. Is it really worth the extra points? I'm not sure what it all entails. Any one with knowlegable information about it would be appreciated.

Thanks and have a great evening. :flower3:

Yes AKV is the only DVC with concierge and it only has 5-10 rooms (5 2 bedroom lockoffs). Concierge level gives you access to the concierge lounge with has a continental breakfast, snacks during the day, hors d'ourves in the evening and dessert at night.

Did anyone see my question yesterday - has anyone been to the new restaurant in the Contemporary called the Wave?

Susan,

How scary! :scared1: It amazes me what a little one can do. So glad all he did was go out side and ring the bell.

Take care

Hi Susie...

My son was a Cast Member in the Disney College program and he worked at The Wave. Its located on the lobby floor of the Contemporary. The cast there is very friendly and nice. The food had generoud porportions and was flavorful. The Desserts where wonderful !

I had the lamb shank and i did not need a knife as it just falls off the bone it is so tender.

Bon Appettite !

Hi everybody! I'm new to the thread and I'm trying to catch up on reading the thread.

My husband and I are taking an Eastern 7-night in August and I've been wrapped up with getting ready for that cruise and didn't think to look for a thread for the member cruise.

Ginny

Wow, it sounds great! Thanks - I feel better about having a reservation there now. :)

Susan, you have to remember that stuff happens. All the time. The other day DGD1 was here. I walked into the kitchen, turned around quickly to go back into the dining room, and bam, hit my poor baby in the head w/my knee. I didn't hear her and I had no idea she was right behind me. Talk about feeling lousy! So yeah, stuff happens. The bad is when we don't learn from it. So now we'll lock the doors and look when we turn around. :thumbsup2

Concierge level has been at the deluxe hotels. There is a floor dedicated to concierge level guests, with special access to that floor only by those staying there. The concierge is costly...we did this at AKL prior to it becoming part of DVC. You are met at the door by the concierge staff, you have a special check in area, where you don't have to wait. There are beverages available all day long in the lounge. The concierge staff is there to make your dreams and wishes come true to the best of their ability. It is a relaxing atmosphere in the lounge. There is breakfast served, including juices, coffee, oatmeal, dry cereal, danish, bagels, fruit, and some other nice things. AKL has a cappacino machine available all day long...self serve. There are snacks out during the day and evening, and then there are horderves (can't spell) from the restaurants served in the evening...some are great, some not so great, and all kinds of imported beer, wine and liquors. It is really very nice. When we stayed there, we asked if the concierge staff could arrange for DH to be the Veteran of the Day in MK...the VOD is honored during the flag ceremony every day at 5pm when the flag is taken down...and DH did get to do this...he was so honored and it was so memorable for us. They will get you reservations at events and restaurants that have no availability, or do have availability...and they are just nice people. Our staff was mostly college kids, or kids who had graduated hoping to get into other positions in WDW. Our personal concierge person selected gifts for us...a wooden giraffe and a Mickey in safari gear, AKL pen set in a nice case, and he also took us to see the suites at the AKL where the celebs stay...really nice person. When we check out, there is a gift waiting for you of bottled water in a bag with a nice note. Each night your bed is turned down and there are chocolates and a little African proverb on your bed.

I would love to stay at AKV on points in the concierge...when paying cash it is really pricey...we did it once when my uncle treated us to a vacation, but it was a once and done dream...that's it.

The GF, Poly, BC, BW, YC, CR, and WL all have concierge level rooms.
Hope that answered your question...when you stay at the AKL in concierge, you can sign up and pay for the early morning sunrise safari, which we did. I think it was $65 or a little more per person. We were taken by a private bus through employee entrance to AK, and went on the safari...a slow trip prior to park opening. We stopped along the way to take pictures of all the animals and the tour guide gave us all kinds of information you don't get when you ride the regular safari. It was wonderful. And then we had a huge buffet breakfast inside a private room at one of the restaurants in AK.

Another question - has anyone ever done the kayak and hiking excursion on CC? and if so what did you think of it?

We've booked the kayaking trip for DH, DBFF and myself while DS is booked with the tenn Wild Side program. I hope that is fun for him, and the other should be right up our alley, but it's new to us.

I always wanted to do the banana boat, but too scared I will drown!!!

Where is the food better at CC? On the adult beach or the family beach?
The two times I went to the adult beach, it is so rocky in the water...so I think I will try the family beach this time. I nearly killed myself trying to walk with my old knees...wonder how the $50,000 ones will work for me!!

ok, we are getting close, Sue, who will get the next ones?
