Mary good luck today. You were the first thing I thought of when I woke up so I wanted to get on and send you a quick note.

I will check in later to see how things went.

Good morning everyone - happy Monday!

Thanks for the well wishes. Here's hoping they work and I can get chemo #9 today. Just to be safe if I can't I'm dressed so I can go into work. I'll update everyone either when I'm home (after chemo) or at work.

Chris- I am very sorry to hear about your grandpa, we will keep you and your family in our prayers.

Mary- Wishing you the best of luck today!!

Flo-WTG on the FE gifts.

Susan- sorry to hear of your friends misfortunes.

Mary thanks again for the countdown, I can't believe how close we are getting.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning and Happy Monday to all :)

We first started with DVC vacations when my parents bought at BCV. They wanted to provide the opportunity for everyone in the family to go on vacation. Prior to the DVC we had a couple of family vacations at various WDW resorts. My parents bought their initial points and have since added on a few times.

Skip forward a few years and I decided to purchase my own points to be able to plan smaller vacations. And by smaller vacations I mean not 10 - 16 people like some of our family vacations. That is fun and of course we do not try to plan everything together but it is nice to just be able to plan your own thing.

I love the DVC first because of the D in DVC. I, as most of you, am a Disney fanatic.

I love the DVC because of the flexibility you get with points versus other types of time shares and vacation clubs. I have several friends that have time shares where they get a specific week. WHAT?...a week that is it? And you have to go the same week every year. No thanks.

I also like the fact that I can leave it for my children. I made sure I put the points in 2 contracts so it would be easier in the future.

We purchase the annual passes and we always plan our vacations so that we get a minimum of 2 vacations for one year's pass. And, if you can get a good deal on airfare you can jump on a plane just about any time of the year for a long weekend at WDW. I feel we tend to enjoy our vacations more with time around the pool for the kids and just relaxing since we are not rushed to see everything in one vacation. Just knowing you are coming back again real soon.

I also have some friends and family that will pay to use my points so that is always nice if I have some extra. I always put that money directly toward the annual dues.

Lisa,

I give you so much credit for taking that night class and going after what you want. I can’t even imagine how it is going to be for you.

On the discussion part of the DCL there is a new packing list thread that may help you out the link

Hi everyone - first off welcome to Ginny! This is a great group and we love to see new people joining us.

Well the good news is I got to have my chemo this morning! Who thought I would be happy having chemo. :) White blood count went up a little but still low so when I get it taken off on Wednesday he's going to give me a shot to help boost the white blood clot. Also spoke to him about the cruise and if we don't finish up before then taking the two weeks off for it shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you for the greetings!!!

I'm looking forward to meeting ya'll! :)

Mary, I'm glad your chemo is continuing, I sure hope you feel OK. I'm really glad your doctor says the cruise will not be a problem:cheer2:

We are all rooting for you to beat this.

It will be. My partners birthday is just after the member cruise and we are staying concierge level at AKV then. We will be doing the sunset safari the day of.

I just went to the AKL in June and did the sunset safari. We loved the safari and the meal that followed at Jiko. Make sure you check your bill, they made a mistake and charged us the rack rate instead of the concierge rate. They corrected the bill without hesitation after we pointed it out. But I am always uncomfortable with doing that.

The Concierge level of AKL was great. Had I known that so much food was served, I probably would have gotten a studio instead of a one bedroom. We never used the kitchen in our unit. It was also a nice place to have a glass of wine in the afternoon and visit with our family. The concierge staff left us some wonderful gifts, (we were celebrating 2 birthdays). They were also great in being able to make any reservation we wanted without a problem.

Oh, make sure you ask for a savannah view room, our 1st room overlooked the pool, we were switched to a savannah view. Amazing.

Hi Ginny! Have fun on the August cruise, we'll see you on the Member Cruise!

I am with you about Sr citizens. We can't eat that late. On are past June cruise we got on the ship and asked to be changed. We got it on day 3 it was a 7 day. That is just to late for me. I like to eat and go to the shows.

I am early.

You could call DCL and be put on the list already and also keep checking to see if any one cancels with early.

take care

Count us in the senior(ish) circle, too. I say "ish" because, like everybody else who loves Disney, we're young at heart (I only wish my body could keep up w/my mind!).

Ravonne, we'd love to do the safari (either one), we just have been unable to get concierge level. Sounds wonderful. What did you have at Jiko? We've only eaten at Boma (love, love, love) and want to try Jiko some day.
