Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

Glad to hear you're doing well, and that the pregnancy is going smoothly. Enjoy your baby shower! I hope that you'll have the chance to post some pics of the nursery, but if you don't we'll understand. :)

Happy Anniversary Ron and Mel! Can't believe how quickly the last year has gone :goodvibes

Good to know you & baby are doing ok :goodvibes , I can imagine you are looking forward to maternity leave now!

Emma princess: x

Happy Anniversary to you guys! I hope you have a fabulous time at your baby shower. Can't wait to see the nursery! Make sure to get some rest before baby comes. I hear it's the last real rest you'll get for a long time ;)

So happy that things are going well! I know you are getting so excited about Claudia's arrival:goodvibes

Happy Anniversary and can't wait to see pictures of your baby shower:goodvibes

Happy Anniversary! :goodvibes I can't believe how quickly mine and Miguel's first anniversary is approaching as well. This first year really has flown by.

I can't wait to see pictures of the nursery! :woohoo:

After two days of intense Dis reading, I'm FINALLY caught up with all my subscriptions. Phew! :woohoo: I even managed to reply to most of them. :thumbsup2

I'm just about to start replying to all your posts here, but before I thought I'd finish my life update. I left out a few things that have happened/are happening in my life. First, about a week and a half ago I did a maternity photoshoot. My dad gave me a lottery ticket for Christmas and I won a little bit of money, so I decided to splurge and get an expensive photoshoot with a photographer whose work I love (as opposed to getting it done at the mall's studio). I also splurged on getting my hair and makeup done by a real professional. The photograph retouches every pictures before giving them back, so in about 3 weeks I should be able to see them. Yay! :cool1: Some are showing a little too much for a message board, but I'll post the ones I can. :rotfl: In the meantime, here's a pic I took myself of what my hair and makeup looked like at the end of the night.

While we're at it, here are the latest bump pictures. They were taken last weekend, at 33 weeks.

Now on to the things I'm looking forward to in the next 6-7 weeks:
- My Baby Shower tomorrow!!!
- A weekend up north with BIL, SIL and our nephew
- My brother's wedding
- Visiting the hospital
- Giving birth. Okay, I'm not actually looking forward to THAT part, but I am obviously very excited that we will get to meet our little Peanut soon.

I love how you say you did not get a lot of pictures of the safari and the Lion King, and then post a lot of pictures. It is relative though. DH does not like taking a lot of pictures, so I was disappointed when I arrived home to see how he took so few or none at times where I would have taken 100 or so. He was in charge of the camera anytime I had Connor, which was most of the trip. You got some great animal pictures. How cute is that picture of you and Baloo! He looks so happy to see you, lol.

I did not even know Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger had a picture place at AK, so that place must be more hidden than you say. You got great shots with them, so it is good you waited for their water break.

Love your Kali River Rapids Photos. I have never seen anyone get action pictures of it before. Your camera is awesome. We got so wet last time we rode it that we skipped it all together last trip. Unless it is really hot outside, I am cool with skipping it every time. It is cool that you played in the Boneyard. Looks like you had fun.

Well, I said *I* did not take a lot of pictures. But turns out, Ron picked up my slack. :rotfl: Sometimes he's all about taking pictures, and will take lots. Then other times he's like Crap and won't take any, or barely. :confused3

Baloo was really sweet. Tall, but a great hugger. :thumbsup2

The first time I went to AK in 2009 I also had no idea that Winnie and friends had a meeting place. Then I kept seeing mentions of it on other TRs and strategy threads, so I researched it more. Seriously, it is so well hidden that you most definitely will past right in front of it without seeing it, unless you know it's there. When you are walking from Discovery Island towards Dinoland, there's is a little path to your right just before the bridge. You can not see the meet and greet from the main path, so your only indication is a tiny sign. I guess it helps with keeping the line short!

I love my underwater camera for all the different kinds of pictures it allows me to take. Glad you are enjoying them too! :goodvibes

I loved exploring the Boneyard. I'm a kid, what can I say. Though I am looking forward to having a tiny toddler so I can go down the slides with her without feeling too bad. :lmao:

I have been lurking on your report for a while and decided to finally say hi. I am really enjoying your report. I have to say traveling with a baby is super easy. My oldest took her first trip at 11 months old, my soon-to-be middle child took her first trip at 3 and a half months old (July) and a second one at 6 months (October) and a third one at 8 and a half months (December). I'm due September 11th with baby number 3 and we will be arriving in Disney on October 5th. Traveling with babies is easy, it's when they get to be toddlers and don't want to ride in the stroller. Can't wait to read more!

:welcome: Glad you got out of lurkdom! Thank you for posting about your experience on traveling to Disney with a baby. Though you are way braver than me, going less than a month after giving birth! All these posts are making me feel more and more confident about traveling with Peanut next January. I keep seeing your TR titles and they have caught my attention. I should really stop and go check them out.

Could not agree more!!!!! My oldest DS got harder the older he got, and is just starting to get easier now that he is 5. When he was 3.5 he made me carry him through every line in the heat (June/July) trip. He would not let my DH or SIL carry him. Only me!

Yeah, I can see how a toddler might be harder than a baby. Though I have a feeling Connor won't be as difficult as Xander when he gets a littlle older, based on what you have said of him. :)

I fell behind in all the Dis weirdness, but I'm caught up now!

We're not big show people, so we've always skipped FOtLK, but it's a must for this trip. I've never read a TR where someones says that they wish they had skipped it.

Where did you find the Jungle Book and Pooh characters? We didn't see any of them! I did see recently on another report that Russell may be out at AK, so I'm really excited for that!

Sorry Ron wasn't feeling it. Blase is blase in English too :rotfl:

How is the pregnancy going? Feeling good, getting excited, have the nursery done?

Don't feel bad. Between the Dis weirdness and my crazy busy life, I fell even more behind than you! Gosh, I can't believe you had time to go on a trip AND come back while I was away from the Dis! Did you end up making it to FOTLK? Though I guess you might make me wait for the TR to find out. :rotfl:

I know it's a bit late for your most recent trip, but in case you still need the info, here is where I found the characters. Winnie & co I explained just above to kmedina. As for the Jungle Book, they were just off the path to your left when you exit Africa and walk towards Asia. Like a little side path. Was Russell there in AK?

LOL, I didn't know blase was the same in English and French. Thanks for telling me. :rotfl: And yeah, it was a low day for Ron. We still enjoyed our time, but as you will see it did not get much better later in the day... :sad2:

I talked a bit about my pregnancy in my life update above. It's going very well, for the most part. Of course I have small issues, but overall nothing bad. I'm really enjoying being pregnant, and as much as I can't wait to meet Claudia, I'm also not ready to give up my belly and feeling her move inside me.

Your AK day looked like so much fun! :cool1: I love all the pictures with the characters, they are so cute! I wish I could ask Tigger if I could bounce with him, but I'd feel too stupid! :rotfl2: I haven't been on Kali River Rapids in years, I'm too afraid of getting drenched!

Yes, despite Ron's lack of energy, we did manage to make the most out of our time at AK and had fun. I think in hindsight though, we could have had as much fun and done as many things had we slept in that morning and made it to AK later. Ron probably would have enjoyed it more.

I'm really shy usually, so I'm surprised I got the courage to ask Tigger to bounce! I'm so glad I did, as it was a lot of fun!

I love being drenched, so that's why I love KRR so much. In fact, when there is a storm and it starts pouring rain, I've been known to step outside and stand in the rain, just for the heck of it. Or splash in the puddles, though I haven't done that since I moved into an apartment on a big boulevard.

I'm all caught up on your updates, Mel! They were great as always! I love the pictures you got on Kali. That is definitely a perspective we don't get to see often! All of your character pictures are adorable! I especially love the Pooh photos. He is just too cute. :cloud9:

Yay for thinking about your next trip! I hope you all make it back to Disney soon! :woohoo:

Thanks! I think I'm all caught up with your updates as well!

I love my picture of the wave in KRR, but I think next time I'll try doing a video. That should be fun too! Especially since it's so hard to time the photo perfectly.

Pooh really is adorable.

We hope to make it back to Disney soon as well! When we left Disney in 2009, we never thought in a million years that we would be back just 2 years later. We thought it would take another 5-10 years. But we did go back, and planned on making a WDW trip every 2-3 years. But now with this 2013 trip, it would be less than a year and a half after our Disneymoon! We are so excited! :cool1:

Hope everything goes well with the rest of your pregnancy and the ultrasound reveals she is fine. I hope you get to stay at AoA too and post lots of pics for us. Glad that you are almosy done working and the countdown to meeting Claudia is getting closer. Do not worry about posting too much toward the end of your pregnancy. I was so exhausted by the end of mine with Connor that I rarely logged in. I like to call that period one of my mini vacations from the DIS.

I hope so too. I saw my dad yesterday and told him about the possible problem with the baby. We're not that close, and he usually seems pretty indifferent about everything, but my brother told me that later that night he went to see him and looked very concerned that something could be wrong with my baby. He was even worried that my ribs sometimes hurt when I sit for too long. I was very surprised to hear this, but I guess it's nice. :)

I really really really hope we get to stay at AoA as it looks so freaking awesome!!! For sure if we do I will take (and post) LOTS of pictures.

I'll try not to worry too much about not posting often. Though I would like to finish my TR before she gets here. That, and FINALLY do my Disney photobook! We'll see how I feel after work is over.

Glad to hear you're doing well, and that the pregnancy is going smoothly. Enjoy your baby shower! I hope that you'll have the chance to post some pics of the nursery, but if you don't we'll understand. :)

Thanks! I feel very lucky to have such an easy pregnancy. I know it's not like that for a lot of people. Hopefully my luck has not run out.

I uploaded the nursery pictures to photobucket, so maybe I'll be able to post them tonight.

What they said. Nice to know your okay and stuff.

:rotfl2: Thanks, and stuff.

Happy Anniversary Ron and Mel! Can't believe how quickly the last year has gone :goodvibes

Good to know you & baby are doing ok :goodvibes , I can imagine you are looking forward to maternity leave now!

Emma princess: x

Thanks! Can you believe we both forgot our anniversary, until I saw the date on Facebook around 2pm? :lmao: Plus, our weekend is so busy doing things separately, we won't even get to celebrate until god knows when. But it's so true, this past year has flown by! I think having the Disneymoon three months after the wedding made it seem like we celebrated even more. Then the pregnancy. Wow!

I am so ready for maternity leave. I like my students, but I like sleeping in even more. ;)

Happy Anniversary to you guys! I hope you have a fabulous time at your baby shower. Can't wait to see the nursery! Make sure to get some rest before baby comes. I hear it's the last real rest you'll get for a long time ;)

Thank you! I'm so excited for tomorrow! I'll come back and let you guys know how it went. And yes, I have a feeling we won't be resting a lot starting very soon. Though hopefully having big sister around all summer will give us some opportunities to nap...

So happy that things are going well! I know you are getting so excited about Claudia's arrival:goodvibes

Happy Anniversary and can't wait to see pictures of your baby shower:goodvibes

Thank you! It's funny though. As excited as I am to meet Claudia, I'm actually not in a rush at all for her to arrive. I'm still in the "want to enjoy every minute of my pregnancy" mode. Starting with the baby shower. Maybe I should give my camera to Ron's DD and put her in charge of pictures, if I want to have something to show you guys...

Happy Anniversary! :goodvibes I can't believe how quickly mine and Miguel's first anniversary is approaching as well. This first year really has flown by.

I can't wait to see pictures of the nursery! :woohoo:

Thanks! Yes, the year has gone by so fast!!! Soon it will be your turn to celebrate one year of marriage. :goodvibes

Don't miss my two "Life Update" posts above.

BABY Update - Nursery

As promised, here are the photos of the nursery! My friend and I worked really hard all weekend to get it done. Ron helped a bit with the painting, but it was soon obvious to me that he had no interest nor talent in this, so I let my friend do the entire second coat with the roller. She would have had to go over his job anyway. :rotfl2: DD13 and I were in charge of all the corners, boards, trims, etc.

My friend almost singlehandedly painted the flowers. I would have helped her, but we only had one small artist paintbrush. (well, I had another one, but I did not know about it and only found it by mistake a week later. Oops!) She finished at 10pm on Saturday! Then the next day we went shopping for decoration things, Ron and her put the crib together, my friend took charge of all the drilling and screwdriving and nailing (Ron and I are useless with tools), and finally we put the finishing touches with the decoration. We finished at 9pm on Sunday. It was a long weekend, but so worth it! And with that, no more writing. The pictures will do the talking!

The flowers hand painted by my friend. They kinda look like clovers, but they are actually Hibsicus (Hawaiian flowers), just green.

And a close-up

I'll show you general pictures first, then go into details.

022.jpg

The crib area

015.jpg

The glider and dresser/changing table

021.jpg

018.jpg

This empty area next to the crib will probably hold some sort of toy organizers.

025.jpg

The other dresser

023.jpg

And now for the details. Above the tall dresser. My friend bought me this light-up ladybug as a baby shower gift (she won't be able to attend) while we were out shopping for decoration items since I mentioned how much I liked it. It can light up red, green or blue, but Ron and I prefer blue.

035.jpg

Shelves above the glider. The little teddy bear was given to me by a student.

029.jpg

I've had these paintings for almost 10 years now and am delighted that they fit so well with the nursery. They are reproductions of artwork from my favorite artist. I have them as puzzle, but they look even better on the wall.

028.jpg

Of course I had to have a little Disney in the room! These are wall decals.

026.jpg

Bed canopy. I'll most probably remove it once Peanut starts standing up in her crib so she doesn't pull on it, then put it back in once she's old enough to understand not to do it.

032.jpg

Bed spread and fleece blanket. It doesn't show, but we actually forgot to buy the mattress. Oops!

033.jpg

031.jpg

And finally, two pictures of me enjoying my newly finished nursery. :goodvibes

043.jpg

047.jpg

Hope you guys like it as much as I do! Even Ron, who is not fond of bright colors and would leave everything white if it were up to him, actually really likes the room.

You look very beautiful all done up, not that you do not all the time though. I love your bump photo. Compared to where I was, you do look small for 33 weeks. You're a lot smaller than I am though, so I am sure Claudia is fine. The nursery is gorgeous. It is another reminder of how much I need a daughter. The flowers are very lovely. Glad that your nursery is set before the baby. DH still has not put together Connor's crib. Xander climbed out of the crib at 12.5 months rendering it useless. Connor may not get one before he is too big for it. Oh well. Glad Claudia's is ready.

Girl, you and your friend did a fantastic job with the nursery! It's so pretty and I am sure that little Peanut is going to love it. Not much longer until you're posting pictures of your precious baby for all of us to see.

Nursery looks good all it's missing is the baby. Which you'll get to see pretty soon right? Ya know what they say? You never forget that experience when a child is born. I hope that experience becomes quite memorable to you and stuff.

The nursery is really pretty and very soothing! I love the colors and the Disney pixie dust sprinkled inpixiedust:

Good for you spending some winnings on a photographer! That's awesome and your picture looks so pretty:)

Wow! Your nursery is gorgeous! I have to admit, I remember when you first mentioned those paintings (Sorry I am a lurker coming out of hiding!), and I couldn't quite picture how they would fit nicely with a nursery, but you more than pulled it off! Love the little Tinkerbell touch as well! The ladybug fits perfectly.

And that is funny about the mattress...is the baby sleeping in her room right away or in your room at first? We never bought our dd's mattress until she was about 3 months old, since she was in her cradle in our room anyway! lol...

My mom told me she was small for both her pregnancies, so I'm not overly worried. A little part of me is though, of course.

Thanks. I'm in love with the nursery! It's so much more fun to decorate for a girl. There just seems to be more choices, and you can rally be artistic. If I had been waiting on DH to do the nursery, I think it might have ended up like you. I'm so thankful that my friend offered her services to do it!!!

Thank you! I will never be able to thank my friend enough for all the work she did.
Should be about 6 weeks before I can post pictures of Peanut. I wouldn't mind 5 weeks, but please not any sooner. ;)

Thanks. My friend said the same thing, it's only missing the baby. :)

Though I have been told and "know" in my head that it will be an incredible experience, I cannot wrap my head around what it actually feels like. I can't wait for it to happen. Okay, not true, I can wait another month or so. ;)

Thanks! I could not do the room without at least a little Disney in it. And I received a few Disney themed gifts, so it's even better.

Speaking of gifts, I received a free photo session for when the baby is there. Photos are not included, but it's still nice.
If you think that picture of me is pretty, wait until you see the ones taken by the professional photograph!

Thank you! and :welcome:

I have to say, I too had no idea how I would manage to fit those paintings, and was prepared to just hang them in the living room. Turns out the colors are just perfect to fit in the room. I'm super happy about that. Obviously Tinkerbell had to find her way in there. Actually, my baby shower was kinda Tinkerbell themed. :goodvibes I don't know why, but I feel Peanut will be more of a fairy than a princess girl. That's not to say we won't spoil her like a little princess though. pixiedust:

I have no idea if the baby will sleep in our room. I know I don't want her to sleep in there for too long. I'm an extremely light sleeper, so I might just end up putting her in her room very early. I'm also concerned about heat/air conditioning, so I need to speak to my doctor about what she suggests. I'll probably just see how it goes, and not have any preconceived opinion on what to do. But anyway, we bought the mattress today so we are okay. :thumbsup2

Cannot wait to see the pictures of your photo shoot. And you look amazing BTW. Pregnancy definitely agrees with you.
The baby room looks great. I always thought blue for a baby girl nursery was such a cool idea. ;)

Q

You look beautiful! Can't wait to see the photo shoot. And the Nursery is very sweet. I like that you left lots of wall space for baby pictures ;-)

I am an extremely light sleeper too. I woke up every time our DS made any sort of noise- a yawn, a coo, or even rustling moving his limbs. Our DS was moved to his room after about a week. It was the best thing we did! Everyone rested much better! Just do whatever works for you!
