So many websties out there and so many Red Herrings... take all of them with a grain of salt!

i want to say thank you to the person who posted above the cast member appreciation info as i fully intened to use those on my trip this time & spread the magic far & wide.
Thanks again to all & hope my post is ok ( im a newbie)

I made CM thank you cards to hand to CMs that made my day, since there are so many I gave out quite a few. Basically business card size with our last name and date of visit.

Forgot where I got this idea.

I posted this a little while back, but it is not my original idea. I got the idea, in fact, from a former CM who thought that the "pass-it-forward" concept works so well, especially in this instance. The small things can make a BIG difference.:flower3: It's nice to show someone how much you appreciate them and their efforts...

I have seriously been off the disboards for a very long time! I think fb and twitter have taken over my Disney fascination, meeting tons of new Disney friends on those two SM outlets. Nevertheless, I have been busy sending out the document daily.

Here's a new window story from DHS. I haven't heard it before, so I thought I would post it here in case you all had not heard it either. Enjoy!

*****

Disney's Hollywood Studios pays homage to classic Hollywood by recreating famous Hollywood landmarks, using billboards to convey messages from 1920's Hollywood, and by placing Hollywood movie making references throughout. Once such reference is the mention of the International Brotherhood Of Second Assistant Directors.

During the height of Hollywood popularity nepotism (the act of hiring family members whether they were qualified or not) ran rampant. Often the "not so talented" family member would be given the fancy title of Second Assistant Director and the responsibility of standing behind the director while holding their coffee for them.

The catch phase on the sign stating: "We're Standing Behind You!" was a reference to the job duties of the Family Member - Second Assistant Directors.

Pretty neat, huh?

Great story! I work in tv, and find this so amusing!
I've been off the DIS for awhile myself, but we're headed back to WDW in March, and I need to "get my planning on!"

Thanks, once more, for all the awesome work you've done to share these tips with us!

You are so welcome. I need to find the time to get back on these boards!

Here is one that I am sure many of you know but one I have not seen posted on this thread.

There is a lightedpurple cat hidden by cast members in different places every year within the Osborne Family Lights. Apparently it was mistakingly included when the lights were transferred from the Osborne home to WDW from the Osborne's Halloween decorations. If you are fortunate enough to visit the parks every holiday season, it is something for you to amuse yourself with, trying to track it down.

This is the link to another thread which has photos...

If you aim at the target on the robots left arm (his left....the one toward the back) in Buzz Lightyears spaceranger spin, you'll get 100,000 points per hit. The top of the volcano in the next room is 25,000 per hit - you can easily max out your score by doing this...that should impress your friends...

We parked at Epcot... went out the back entrance by France and walked along the river through Disney's Boardwalk to Hollywood Studios. It was a nice walk on a sunny day and took us maybe 15 minutes. We did this to break up the day at Epcot when we still wanted to see the "Reflections of Earth."

Also. Plan to ride at Hollywood Studios during non-Fantasmic show days. The lines are virtually non-existent.

:rotfl:

The ride stopped last time we hit this spot. My 3yr old son (with my help) repeatedly shot this spot (arm.) much to my wife's (in the other car) displeasure! :)

What I did not see mentioned...

* Now, in most of the earlier posts, before it got majorly OT, a lot of people mentioned that certain CM's seemingly went the extra mile and really made a special moment become a truly magical one. Here is one suggestion from a former CM turned author of "The Ultimate Disney World Savings Guide 2010" (a book that is online and therefore ALWAYS up to date!)

quote "Here's a neat little tip guaranteed to put a smile on your children's faces AND the faces of Disney World Cast Members (employees). Before your trip print out free Cast Member appreciation cards. (Google for free down loads)

When a Cast Member does something nice for your family, have your kids walk up and give him or her a card to show your thanks! Your kids will love it, and so will the Cast Member. It's something fun and free that will make your trip that much more fun (it's ok for you to give out a card too, mom or dad).

Go get your free cards now, and you'll be all set to tell a Cast Member whenever they've done a good job for you. Then just look for the smiles!"
end quote

You may even like to take this one step further, depending on how "magical" your moment was, and tell someone further up the chain about the great CM encounter you had. One way to make the MAGIC come full circle!

Have a magical day!:wizard:

We haven't done the cards (but I'm gonna check that out for April) but at least once a trip we go to Guest Services and give a compliment to a CM who has gone above and beyond in some way. The GS CM's always look delighted to take the report and we always hope it helps a CM get a little something extra or a promotion on the admin side of things. It always gives us a little extra pixie dust in our hearts to do it too! :wizard::thumbsup2

Is it the orange robot on your left as you enter or the big one on the right with the buzz saw for an arm?

I've been trying to beat my brother on this ride for years (note I'm 10 years older than him :headache:)

The first orange robot on your left. The trick is to start shooting at the far hand (his left hand) as soon as you get control of the car, before you even enter the room. The angle is difficult once you're in the room. SOmewhat easier to hit from the left sided seat

Subbing!
and would also love the list emailed to me.

Thanks!
